Sharks Laugh Vestpakz Out Of The Tank | Shark Worst Pitches
The issue, as others have stated, is this is the wrong market. Kids are super sensitive to fitting in, and no kid is gonna want to wear this and be called a dork. Also, the backpack part is entirely too small to carry school books. This should have been marketed to adult hikers and festival-goers.
This will be a perfect product for the african Market where kids are subjected to carrying a heaviy load of books with their Back Bags thats is causing back problem for this kids that lasts ages
@user-jm8zs9fu9n who cares what a bot thinks??
Great point, I do both of those things
@@user-jm8zs9fu9n Barely anyone in Africa has money so I think that's a fairly limited market.
Typical dork comment
It actually seems rather useful as a fishing or hiking vest, it's unfortunate it wasn't marketed as such...
Jesus is coming!!
I agree I mean they can but will they think of that? Who knows 😅
Problem is ...YEAH, "could be"....but there are already "fishing" and hunting outerwear that already exist. WHY? switch to "this" one it doesn't DO anything cleverly useful that existing outdoor wear/fishing 🎣 vest don't already do....
@@God_is_good_we don't care
I thought the same thing. I feel like it’s more of a camping product! It could probably sell a lot more if they went that way with it.
Robert "The good news is Barbara and Lori aren't still out"
Barbara "And for that reason I'm out " 😂😂
“She was in product development” 😅😂
Love kevin
Mark popped hard for that
Maybe I'm wrong but I don't think this is something that should be marketed towards everyday backpack use. This seems like something that would be better for light camping or maybe even hiking. That even weight distribution is a cool benefit.
This was left out of this snippet but a huge part of their argument was that the weight distribution of traditional backpacks was bad for developing backs.
Those markets are already so dominated with millions of options though...
1:53 never seen mark burst out laughing like this before 🤣
😂I love this episode exactly for mark’s reactions
I thought that was his daughter too
2:21 then Kevin got him again
75 Walmarts + TWO months = 10k? That doesn’t add up. The people have spoken. They don’t want it😂
She said it so gently too. 😅
Right😂😂😂😂
They couldn't have been selling more than 2/month per store, which is pretty awful.
How did they not play on the word IN*VEST* in their pitch?
Because he screamed monnnay instead 😂
good question!
Using Papyrus as the logo's font should have been the first red flag. In a post-Avatar world, that's just inexcusable. hahah
th-cam.com/video/jVhlJNJopOQ/w-d-xo.html
That’s not papyrus but it’s still a bad font
@@calvinogden9127 Whatever changes they made, IT. WASN'T. ENOUGH.
@@madaemon I want you to know that what you're doing is appreciated
The only question is will it microwave
The music could be a few db‘s louder, I still can hear what they’re saying.
😜😜😜😜
WHAT? I CANT HEAR YOU
are we going to skip over the fact that the daughter's father pretty much stole her idea and ran with it?? for that reason, I'm out.
There’s a good chance he asked her about it and she said he could do whatever he wanted with the idea
He bought the idea from his daughter for 100k
I thought this was an SNL skit 😂😂😂
"I've been in the backpack business for over 30 years and I've never seen a product like this"
What? A vest with pockets? Lol
I am sorry if I wore that to school, I would get bullied super fast.
The problem is, kids can't wear it during the summer months.
A traditional back-pack is going to cost less and is year-round.
AND it is not adjustable. Kids grow at huge rates. Who wants to invest in a new backpack every year when you can adjust a regular backpack to last 5 years? It doesn't even look like it will hold a regular book. I'm out as soon as I saw it.
Lori is so sweet. Nice and soft feedback.
I thought the same until i learnt that she closes less than 30% of the deals she shakes on. Whilst Cuban closes 88% after the show. Old saying “words are cheap”.
@@haylonixyou are right, she has closed 29% of her deals, and I believe Robert closes 30% of his, but keep in mind that Mark Cuban has a lot more money so maybe he lets things slide more than other sharks would. Due diligence might reveal things that make them no longer want to close, but for Cuban, he may be less strict. Lori being strict would make sense since she is has made a lot of money through these deals.
Lmfao 🤣 wen mark said “THATS NOT ALOT OF MONEY “
"I've been in the backpack business for over 30 years."
Dang, he must REALLY love backpacks! 🎒🎒🎒
And he never hear about Eastpack?!
Beyond the “dork-factor” parents won’t buy-in because it’s size restrictive. The weight distribution benefits rely on a decently snug fit which means you’re lucky if this lasts your kid more than a year before they out-grow it. Not worth trading adjustable straps for.
I can finally hear the audio. This must be a fever dream
Shut up
The company fizzled out and went out of business shortly after airing! I think they would’ve done better if they didn’t come on shark tank 😅
Unfortunately, I must agree.Edit: Thank You for the report. Appreciate it.
Likely not, shark tank gave him the only chance he had. The show solves one of the biggest problems in business: getting sales
they didn't go out of business, because they were never in business, they can't fizzle out because there was nothing to begin with. They were home watching Shark Tank and was thinking if they could get lucky and get rich with a investment from the sharks, but they had no good business ideas, so they picked the only thing they had which was some random thing from 16 years ago, and the casting team knew how ridiculous this is so they invited them on for the humor and to get the reactions from the Sharks
+@@alexmarlow2508 this isn't even true, look into it. I thought the product was interesting so I started looking into it and, yeah, it really seems like going on Shark Tank is what made them fizzle out. I would have bought it if it was still on the market. It was in the Smithsonian and on Oprah, it's not nothing!
Actually Arthur Greyer had a successful backpack business separate from this one.
Maybe Al Pacino should have worn a tie for his role in "Scent of a Backpack".
😂
So back in the 90s my kids had a Lemonade Stand on the corner and I feel at this point... 35 years later... WE can compete against Starbucks.
“I love the product! And for that reason I’m out.” Barbara.
Just turn it into a bulletproof vestpak, instant billionaire in America
Imagine you have to take something out of your backpack. How would that work?
most ive seen mark laugh during a pitch lol
The only problem with this product is what will kids do on hot days, days where it's too hot to wear anything over your shirt? And what will they do in the midst of winter when it's freezing, will the vest fit over their coats? I doubt the coats will fit over the vestpakz!
This is America 🇺🇸. Who wears anything for 4 entire seasons 😂?
That's why I'm making headpak. The kids can stap a bag on their heads like they do in Africa. Problem solved.
@@drekelley2352 😂
@@drekelley2352I'm out
I love the way he said million dollar idyea like it would swing the pitch
That guy did come in there to mislead them, intentionally pointing in the direction of the kids every time he mentioned his daughter, as if to make the sharks think they might help to give the little girl hope for a future in business. 👎🏼
This is actually very smart not just for the kids but for outdoorzee people too and for everyone that needs a jacket and a backpack….to bad this 2 guys didn’t bring the daughter with them
Jesus loves you!
* too bad, these
+@@mortelmans26 we need more people like you
@@kindauncoolgrammar Nazis? No we don’t
@@Dctctxyes we do
This seems great for hiking, I’d love for my dog to have one too
In general a neat idea but not focused broad enough. Like it could be used for many outdoor-activities - even by adults. And the fact they were struggling even after 15 years just tells it all. Sometimes you need to find your niche in the market and sometimes you are too niche.
I’m noticing a problem, none of those pockets look big enough, for a chrome book, yes, I know that it was made for elementary school children, but now a days, every elementary school kid, is bringing home a chrome book; the design is good, but you might want to modify it for the modern day.
Mark got me dyyyyyyying laughing!
Off topic but did anyone notice how Robert always looks for 0.01 seconds into the camera before he pretends that he doesn't know he's been filmed 😂
Don’t wear sunglasses to the shark tank
Transitions
These guys are time travelers 😂😂🤣
It has been foreseen that they will return in 5 years and Barbara has left them a message in their backpacks letting them know, she is still out.
They should make it for teens, adults and make versions for other things besides school use
Wait they thought that little girl was in 6th grade?
I do too. They, especially the pink guy, promoted the product like it was a solution to his daughter's problem. No one dare to assume that it's going to take more than 10 years to develop, especially since it's not a complicated product. Hence, why Mark and probably many others on youtube laughed so hard.
@@elenaravenwood9851but...she looks like she 5 or 6 years old tops...how could you think those kids are in the 6th grade?
@@richardcochrun3869 She wasn't 5/6 years old, she was 27. Please read my comment beyond the word "I do too." It exactly explains why i think she was 6 at the time before the white haired guy said that her daughter was 27.
@@richardcochrun3869 And also please dont confuse the young girl who was presenting the product as his daughter, because she wasn't the one we're talking about. I can safely assume that she wasn't his at his age, probably a grand daughter or a close relative's child who he can comfortably ask for help to wear and present the product in front of potential investor. But he never explicitly said who she was, and the daughter he and Mark was talking about was his 27 years old daughter. 1:50
The point is, the sharks said "I thought that was your daughter there". About a girl who was clearly like 1st grade tops, not 7th or 8th like it would have been if the daughter had the idea in 6th grade and they would have spent the minimum year or two developing it right away.
I'm a consultant in NYC and have to carry a laptop and many other items every day all over the city. I would love to purchase a product that would evenly balance out my items. Too much weight is put on my back every day.
This is how villians are made
honestly i would buy it i ride a motorcycle & this would come in clutch in the winter & for hiking or rock climbing
For real bro I started looking it up after watching this and was dismayed to find they're completely out of business. I came here to laugh at a bad pitch and instead left disappointed at the loss of what could have been a great product.
His daughter is 35 now.
In all honesty, if you’ve only made $10,000 in 17 years from one product, you really should pull the plug on it. Make it out of camo or blaze orange and sell it as a hunting or fishing vest, if anything. But $10,000 in 17 years is really bad.
“Junior, how about this one?” “Mom, kids are gonna make fun of me.”
Vestpakz has a good idea.
Wish they make for adults, it's more convenient to have a pak attached to your clothes than to carry purses or bags and and have to readjust weight from straps because it is too heavy on shoulder.
With this and the Pilkos pants you could tackle Everest easily.
4:35 "The numbers don't lie."
AND THEY SPELL DISASTER FOR YOU AT SACRIFICE!!!
1:54 😂
& 2:38 😂😂
perhaps they could make some utility revisions and market it as some sort of outdoors accessory as stated in the comments.
Many consumers don't know about the product or where it is sold.
They never heard of it, never see ads for it.
I only knew of their vest after seeing them appear on SHARK TANK.
Dudes! I actually loved the product as everyone in the comments does. Wrong market! The outdoors community would love this. If a big company gets on this it’ll be a game changer. I would have definitely bought one. Shoot it makes me want to start my own brand.
Its a vest with pockets lmao
Mark tho full maza leraha hai 😅
The guy with the cheap suit jacket looks like a cross between Michael Scott and a used car salesman.
"When this came out Mandee was #1" made me crack up.
The guy in the gray suit and glasses looks like he’s a caporegime in the Genovese family
A great ides for fishers not going to lie
So basically the daughter reinvented a utility vest
Is he from Alabama?
Knock it off 😂
I don't understand this product. You have to take the vest off (presumably) to get the books out so that you can sit down comfortably at your desk. Is this something the kid throws in their locker at the start of the day just like they would a backpack?
Mark cracks me up 😂
In his defense he never said anything about it being recent, that little girl looks kindergarten age
PAPYRUS! HE USED PAPYRUS!
Schools in Canada, you can’t bring your backpack between classes. They have to stay in the locker. I’m out.
4:20 Side eye Chloe meme
If it's bullet proof I'll take it. Need more bulletproof options for kids. What a fuckj g sentence I have to type for america
Come to New Zealand
Mark Cuban’s laugh is awesome
surprise its's a vest with pockets.. been around for years
Yeah i want about to say… that girl didn’t look like she in 6th grade
I have a daughter going in to kindergarten next year, I would never buy that ugly thing for her.
Who on earth did the sound editing for this episode? Deafening music, quiet voices lol
Usually the all the sounds is way too low so we got lucky with this
1:50 We know why we're all here!
Children don’t carry books anymore. Tablets and laptops.
Why is the audio mixing in all these clips fairly consistently terrible?
That little girl looks younger than 6th grade age. So the Sharks thought that she was his daughter, who created it in 6th grade?......
Backpacks are adjustable. I don’t see these fitting over heavy coats or lasting a kid more than a few months
I actually want this product for me, like an adult version
Alcapino …. Going in. Different routes
and it's not like you're gonna be wearing the vest everyday to school, what if it's too hot or too cold and what if you want to have a variety in your fashion sense
The only way this product would sell is if it's advertized as being bullet proof as well. Parents would buy it for the safety of their kid. As is, only hikers would consider using it
The real issue with the product is that the logo uses papyrus font
This is a fishing, camping, hunting vest not a backpack replacement for kids... these people are in the wrong market...
If a kid ever showed up to school in this they would be bullied so hard. 😬 Maybe a kindergartener could get away with it
Yeah these 2 southern boomers defo know what kids want
Also loved 'you know ive been in the backpack business for over 30 years'. Dude literally looks like he sells coke to country musicians
They are averaging $66 per store per month. Heck that's only 2-3 backpacks. That one's going down the toilet
what’s the backstory about the dude being in the backpack business for over 30 years?
I’d have been out as soon as I saw those skeezy tinted glasses.
This would never fly with kids
How did these two trolls get in front of shark tank? Wow.
Of course Cuban leaches off of Mr Wonderful's "moneyyy".
I thought that girl looked a little too young to be in the 6th grade
Can't take it off to sit on the bus. Can't wear it out to recess. Terrible idea for school.
u cud fill the pockets with cement and use it as a reverse life preserver
Stylish?
Its not a bad idea. But i cant imagine a kid wearing this in the hot weather.
1 soon enough back packs will be gone everything will be done in a screen that most propobly will be in the facility a kid is going to school i assume.
2 of all even if it succeds it is a quick in and out basicly its a trend and it will be gone inside five years
3 the interprenuers are lazy 15 years of inactivity is inexcusable it takes two years maximum to figure out if things work
"invest" hahahah
Kevin : Sales
they should've made the thing to accommodate front and back armor plates and that thing would be sold out in seconds
