The issue, as others have stated, is this is the wrong market. Kids are super sensitive to fitting in, and no kid is gonna want to wear this and be called a dork. Also, the backpack part is entirely too small to carry school books. This should have been marketed to adult hikers and festival-goers.
This will be a perfect product for the african Market where kids are subjected to carrying a heaviy load of books with their Back Bags thats is causing back problem for this kids that lasts ages
Problem is ...YEAH, "could be"....but there are already "fishing" and hunting outerwear that already exist. WHY? switch to "this" one it doesn't DO anything cleverly useful that existing outdoor wear/fishing 🎣 vest don't already do....
Maybe I'm wrong but I don't think this is something that should be marketed towards everyday backpack use. This seems like something that would be better for light camping or maybe even hiking. That even weight distribution is a cool benefit.
This was left out of this snippet but a huge part of their argument was that the weight distribution of traditional backpacks was bad for developing backs.
Why do you Americans have such professional relationships with your parents? In normal cultures, parents and children actually support one another from birth to old age to death. Americans just kick their kids out at 18 and be done with them. Weirdo country

@@haylonixyou are right, she has closed 29% of her deals, and I believe Robert closes 30% of his, but keep in mind that Mark Cuban has a lot more money so maybe he lets things slide more than other sharks would. AND it is not adjustable. Kids grow at huge rates. Who wants to invest in a new backpack every year when you can adjust a regular backpack to last 5 years? It doesn't even look like it will hold a regular book. I'm out as soon as I saw it.
they didn't go out of business, because they were never in business, they can't fizzle out because there was nothing to begin with. They were home watching Shark Tank and was thinking if they could get lucky and get rich with a investment from the sharks, but they had no good business ideas, so they picked the only thing they had which was some random thing from 16 years ago, and the casting team knew how ridiculous this is so they invited them on for the humor and to get the reactions from the Sharks
+@@alexmarlow2508 this isn't even true, look into it. I thought the product was interesting so I started looking into it and, yeah, it really seems like going on Shark Tank is what made them fizzle out. I would have bought it if it was still on the market. It was in the Smithsonian and on Oprah, it's not nothing!
Beyond the “dork-factor” parents won’t buy-in because it’s size restrictive. The weight distribution benefits rely on a decently snug fit which means you’re lucky if this lasts your kid more than a year before they out-grow it. Not worth trading adjustable straps for.
The only problem with this product is what will kids do on hot days, days where it's too hot to wear anything over your shirt? And what will they do in the midst of winter when it's freezing, will the vest fit over their coats? I doubt the coats will fit over the vestpakz!
This is actually very smart not just for the kids but for outdoorzee people too and for everyone that needs a jacket and a backpack….to bad this 2 guys didn’t bring the daughter with them
That guy did come in there to mislead them, intentionally pointing in the direction of the kids every time he mentioned his daughter, as if to make the sharks think they might help to give the little girl hope for a future in business. 👎🏼
In general a neat idea but not focused broad enough. Like it could be used for many outdoor-activities - even by adults. And the fact they were struggling even after 15 years just tells it all. Sometimes you need to find your niche in the market and sometimes you are too niche.
I’m noticing a problem, none of those pockets look big enough, for a chrome book, yes, I know that it was made for elementary school children, but now a days, every elementary school kid, is bringing home a chrome book; the design is good, but you might want to modify it for the modern day.
I'm a consultant in NYC and have to carry a laptop and many other items every day all over the city. I would love to purchase a product that would evenly balance out my items. Too much weight is put on my back every day.
I don't understand this product. You have to take the vest off (presumably) to get the books out so that you can sit down comfortably at your desk. Is this something the kid throws in their locker at the start of the day just like they would a backpack?
I do too. They, especially the pink guy, promoted the product like it was a solution to his daughter's problem. No one dare to assume that it's going to take more than 10 years to develop, especially since it's not a complicated product. Hence, why Mark and probably many others on youtube laughed so hard.
@@richardcochrun3869 She wasn't 5/6 years old, she was 27. Please read my comment beyond the word "I do too." It exactly explains why i think she was 6 at the time before the white haired guy said that her daughter was 27.

The point is, the sharks said "I thought that was your daughter there". About a girl who was clearly like 1st grade tops, not 7th or 8th like it would have been if the daughter had the idea in 6th grade and they would have spent the minimum year or two developing it right away.

Vestpakz has a good idea. Wish they make for adults, it's more convenient to have a pak attached to your clothes than to carry purses or bags and and have to readjust weight from straps because it is too heavy on shoulder.
To be honest though, his daughter was super smart and creative to think of the solution to heavy backpacks and inventing this for being like 12 in the 6th grade. Pretty impressive thinking for a kiddo:)
In all honesty, if you’ve only made $10,000 in 17 years from one product, you really should pull the plug on it. Make it out of camo or blaze orange and sell it as a hunting or fishing vest, if anything. But $10,000 in 17 years is really bad.

As others have pointed out, this should have been advertised as multi-purpose for school, hiking, festivals, vacations, etc; only targeting school kids was their biggest downfall. Kids won’t want to wear something to school that would look weird and they’ll outgrow it in a few years anyway, so why would a parent not just buy a standard backpack their kid can use from Kindergarten to college?

That's a terrible idea for so many reasons... It's unusable for warmer half of the year. It's stupid as children product, because kids outgrow clothes rather quickly. It's not gonna last as much as a bag, because it can't be possibly made from the same materials suitable for supporting weight (it's still clothing, it needs to be flexible etc.)...
I honestly don't see the need to laugh at them so much, the way they did. The product looks nice, it looks well made... I see potential in it, tbh. But, ok, if THEY dont see that potential and don't want to invest THEIR MONEY, who am I to have a say? But they simply bullied them out of the show.....
