For tip 2 you can also change in the settings>accessibility>Voice Feedback (on). This will respond with the volume set by how loud you made the request. That is good for when you’re getting ready for bed and don’t want Siri waking up the whole house.
Found out a few nights ago that my HomePod Mini kept playing white noise even though our Internet went out. Not sure how but it never paused or faltered. Great vid. Always top notch.
Have a new Homepod but can't get Intercom to work. Keep getting message that no other devices are available, even though I have an iphone, ipad. Anything special in the Homekit app that needs to be set?
another great video thanks Craig... Just want to ask.. the multi room music only working with 6 HomePods? I cant find that anywhere on Apple. I have 8 and yes, it's ropey as hell. Is the arbitrary solution to not play all at once and just maybe do upstairs or downstairs at once?
Hey Nigel, It was something I was not aware of from personal experience. I have had multiple people who contacted Apple reach out to me and tell me there was a 6 limit. You can use more, but it may get sketchy like your 8. The most stable approach would be to create zones like you are saying with upstairs and downstairs.
@@CraigsTechTalk thanks so much for the reply Craig. I do have zones but find that Siri especially just wobbles all the time even when asking to play 'upstairs' you get the usual "on it" then silence. Given the exceptionally bad performance over the weekend Im doing an experiment this week limiting the output to 6 HomePods and no more. I will not be asking for music 'everywhere' just relying on the HomePod to remember the last play configuration i.e. the 6 units and then simply asking to play music - so far day 1 its fired up quickly on all 6 so as long as I dont fiddle I should be able to get a good handle on reliability when using 6. Of course theres Apple's server side issues too and sometimes you ask site something and luck of the draw it wont work if Apple's servers are having a moment!
Just bought a HomePod 2 today. What an awesome piece of kit!Sounds amazing. However it was a pain in the ass to get Apple Music on my iPhone to play through it.FAR from as easy as the enclosed instructions suggested!Took half an hour of Googling, and trial and error-plus plenty swearing.Eventually got it going and was well impressed. It is almost a year to the day since I dipped a toe in the Apple ecosystem.Been a rather expensive year!😂
Haven’t heard that. You can place them wherever. If you want to pair them they have to be in the same room. But you have as many as you want. I am hearing that only 6 HomePods can have the same music streamed to them at the same time. Anymore and performance gets sketchy.
Another awesome video. All these tips are pretty universal. Why not make a video covering these tips on Homepods, Echos, and Alphabet Google Nest speakers.

I have both pairs of HomePods and HomePods Mini two with the Apple TV and a pair of Minis in the dining room. Can you make all of them play as a group.
Multi room speakers only work with SIX?!?? This was a key feature I wanted (I was waiting for the new homepods to do it) and with two stereo pairs that is highly limiting!!!!
It’s a limit I have not experienced, but have heard from quite a few people. Others have had no problem using more. But another in the comments says his gets dicey with 8 playing.
For the last month or so (likely tied to recent Apple updates), my homepods (New homepods and homepod minis) almost never accept personal requests. I am constantly being asked to authenticate on my phone. Is there a fix for this?
I have 2 HomePod 2 and a mini within 15 feet of each other one in the kitchen and 2 around the corner in the living room. Open plan. . Even if I am right beside the mini and ask Siri the HomePod 2 activates and I can hardly hear it.
I would check to see if you have the latest software. Apple released an update the past couple of days that is supposed to help with HomePods that were not responding. I am wondering if Minis were more prone to this. I don’t think the HomePod 2s have that much better microphones.
Noticed something weird with my four original stereo paired HomePods after 16.3 - the volume at a certain Siri directed volume percentage is not as loud now. As an example, 10% volume is now quieter than it was pre-16.3. Anyone else notice this?
I’ve watched videos where people are using a 3rd party subwoofer. But it doesn’t work seamlessly. They’re using Apples AirPort Express and the user needs to add in the sub every time. I just want to hit the power on button. I, recently purchased a pair of HomePod 2’s and the Apple 4K tv. It’s used in my bedroom. I was surprised by the sound quality, but they have so much to improve on. A wireless subwoofer addition and we’re looking at a total cost of $1000-1200. For all it would add, and the existing HomePod 2’s capabilities, it would be a low cost alternative to Bose or Sonos.

Please Apple stop with all the feedback from Siri! Let us control how you respond. A nice little chime to acknowledge that you’ve done what was requested would be fantastic. Amazon FINALLY allowed us to do this so please, please, PLEASE stop with all the chit-chat at 2am when all I want you to do is turn on a light.
Don't buy this people. It's way to complicated and only made to be used with apple products. I like speakers that you can listen with any device, have Bluetooth and are portable. You could easily buy a better speaker that's portable for the same or less.

Try going into the home app on each device. In the home app go to home settings, select intercom and choose your option. Then repeat on other devices.

When you asked Siri what the weather was going to be like. Mine picked up and told me the weather. Great Video!
I wish Apple would release a compatible subwoofer that would integrate with Apple TV 4K, and a pair of HomePods 2.
I like that idea Jeff. Boosting the bass would definitely help bring it inline with sound bars and surround systems.
