And a damn big bluegill to boot! Like that would be a decent size in a farm pond and thats just hanging out in well-fished waters.
I'll also offer that longear sunfish and bluegill are seperate species.
Longears are highlighter orange with shocks of sky blue (they almost look tropical) while bluegill are usually more subdued color (olive green and bronze with darker vertical bars) with the exception of those distinct chin and gill scales that are a powder blue typically.
Tilapia and Bluegill can look very similar, but tilapia have a slightly elongated body that is mostly silvers and greys with a bit of blue or red coloration around the fins and gills. Tilapia mouths tend to be more forward facing whereas bluegill have a serious underbite that makes their mouths point upwards.

I fish the lake and the canal ! I park my car in the parking lot and fish and walk all the way down past the tracks and fish by that other crossover and then walk across Baseline Road and pick up the canal there. Western Canal is the name there right above the Kiwanis lake.

Not sure, but the carp in the canals are catch and release only.
