for me the best thing about the cure is the variety in their music. Robert is a genius and doesn't make music for the billboard charts or for the radio, he makes music because he has something inside of him that he needs to express. If people like it that's a bonus. Since they have been around for so long they are so many different Cures. This was a great psychedelic time for him, most of the music was inspired and conceived from LSD. But Robert doesn't get caught up in one type of music because that wouldn't last long and it would get old quick. They went from The Top to The Head on The Door. It's almost as if it were two different bands. Even though members of the cure change it's Robert that IS The Cure. I have been a fan for 30+ years and I'm grateful that He continues to make music to this day. And i'm thankful their catalog is so varied. There is always something to fit the mood.
I concur. I've only been listening to them for like a year but the music is definitely varied not jus album to album sometimes even song to song. Dressing up totally sounds like an 80s r&b song, the blood has this latin vibe, if only tonight has this Asian touch to it, while push sounds like it could b a current alternative song I'm head over heels for the cure💖💖💖💖

I've been following them since 1990, and they still perform at their top level. Their new music is just as good as anything they have released. That's unusual because usually a band that releases new music past their prime, the music isn't great. I just hope we get more of The Cure before it's too late.
I agree. Seen them 7 times live and nobody can question their prowess in all their live shows but beyond all that their shows totally captivate the audience. I remember the first time I saw them at The Royal Albert Hall on 1st April 2006. I was so enthralled and inspired that after the concert, I was walking along the streets of London in a daze and the song 'Fascination Street' was going around my head. I didn't care for anything else in the world after witnessing the best concert ever! Truly the biggest inspiration for me in terms of music and even to an extent the overall DIY philosophy and alternative way of looking at things come from The Cure. :-)
Only seen them twice . The first time was before they release Kiss me.. and the last time in 2017 and at the Wembley Arena both times . Excellent performers with such an experimental range

You can hear him on Piggy In The Mirror. While Porl is playing a funky rhythm thing over the "Jump with me" part at 4:21 you can hear the descending melody that Lol plays. I think his role on a lot of songs is to player filler bass parts on the keys as well, like on Bananafishbones.
It always looked weird watching Lol in front of the keyboards. I think A Forest was the only time he seemed to genuinely playing. Lol is like what Andrew Fletcher was to Depeche Mode, I guess.
The feeling when as a teenager people listen to Lady Gaga on parties and u lock yourself in your bedroom listening to music from before u were born. Spirit stuck in the wrong time. 🥴🥴
Bass player is Phil Thornally who produced the Pornography album, the Love Cats single and the Concert live album. He was The Cure bassist for 18 months, more or less between the time Simon Gallup left the band in 1982 and the time he re-joined in 1984.
This was the end of the cure part 2. Part 1 was imaginary to faith. Part 2 was pornography to the top. The best in my opinion. Part 3 was head on the door to Disintegration. From 90 onwards it’s been poor. This tour was fantastic
