"playing cards in the locker room" i thought he ran into the APA he wouldn't have told those two badass mfs shit XD
I would of loved to see him walk up to Andre the Giant or Hogan and tell them they couldn't play cards before a match. That would of been epic
He could have easily taken Hogan. Andre was a different story.
*would have* not would of!!!
@@rowds☝ grammar checker on site 🙄
@@redrock717 , I dont know about Bill Watts taking Hogan. From My experience in Pro wrestling and MMA is that usually tough guys dont tell you how tough they are because they dont need to. I always thought that Bill was not as tough as he cliamed and Hogan was a lot tougher than what people gave him credit for.
@@redrock717not about taking Hogan if he had tried that with Hogan in the 80s he would’ve been booted out or at least told to back off Hogan was the Holden goose
Nothing like randomly listening to the podcast and hearing some backstage happenings in your hometown. Good stuff!
Ironically, many of the WWE wrestlers at that time, had "left" Bill Watts' Mid-South wrestling promotion because they "hated" working working for him. Now, Watts, the same guy who had "withheld these guys paychecks", and pissed them off, was once again in a position to tell them what to do and when to do it.
Great comment.
Except that he couldn't tell them what to do and when to do it, as Bruce explains. He was brought in as a booker, not a second in charge.
The wrestlers left Mid-South because the money was better at the WWE.
@@tomgeorge7281and because they couldn’t stand his ssa
Its best to remember what happened after Watts left. There was no discipline at all after. Shawn and his friends basically took over the promotion, did heavy drugs, acted unprofessionally in the ring, created anger in the locker room, promoted their friends and drove the WWE's overall business into the ground. When WWE management gave up trying to control the wrestlers and discipline them when they got out of line, what you got was the Kilq. And for everyone BUT the friends of Shawn Michaels, Bill Watts & his rules would have been better in the situation.
Very well-spoken, Sir. The Boys would’ve enjoyed having Bill Watts’ input - which is probably why Jim Ross pushed to get his mentor put into that position. But then again, the kliq had already alienated themselves from the Boys by that point.
You have to remember that it's actually the mark of a LOUSY leader when shit hits the fan when they leave. It means they were piss poor at developing their team.
I know Watts was an ahole and people hated him and he LOL "hated" some ppl too, HOWEVER....I don't see any reason to clown him in his WWF run, because he obviously thought he was given something he wasn't, then he found that out and said, "Oh Okay, bye." That seems to be the simple truth of the matter. Anyone in wrestling knew that's how Watts did business, and wasn't changing any time soon LOL!! It's almost like a poke at him for his racist rant at wcw that got him canned and some "revenge fantasy" i.e. "Oh He thought it was his show but we showed him what time it was hahaha!!" Okay......good for you on something that never happened. Seems to me he took his bigass oversized hat and went home with little fuss.
Considering that it worked out for the best in the end, I don't know about that. A lot of people like to second guess the way Vince ran things, but there's a reason he was the last one standing.
You were there? What was your wrestling name?
The more I learn about Bill Watts, the more confident I am of my opinion that in another life time if I was to join Professional Wrestling, I’d like to be taught and booked under Bill Watts. Yes, he was very tough and intimidating, but he had discipline, control and knew how to give a good product.
FACTS!
EXACTLY RIGHT
Watts wanted the wrestlers to work on their matches instead of playing cards. That’s not unreasonable.
Like today? No thanks
Seems like Bill and Fritz are from the same hood
bill watts still wanted to book wcw and wwf as if it was 1975.
As if it were a "professional wrestling" promotion.
God forbid a pro wrestling promotion be run as a pro wrestling promotion
@@nicholasfarrell8403 That's just it though. Vince was trying to run an entertainment company. The old way of thinking that "wrestling was wrestling" was great in its day, but business wise it had a cap and Vince had already moved beyond that.
@@nicholasfarrell8403lol 1975 is the only year defined as professional wrestling? GTFOH!
@@nicholasfarrell8403god forbid watts not be allowed to LORD over the wrestlers, browbeat , intimidate and take cheap shots
If he told Andre that, Andre would have ended him right there.
Every bruce story about Shawn Michael's in the 90s contradicts everyone else's recounts, including Shawn himself. Leaves out a lot of important details, paints him as a Saint and toes the line, especially those that the company holds in higher regards compared to others. In other words, he helps "the man". But he's getting paid, so good on him.
Watts was a awesome booker. Mid South Wrestling and WCW 1992 was great.
WCW 1992 was DOG SHIT. Taking away moves off the top rope and putting the tag - team belts on The Hardliners, a couple of has beens that nobody under the age of 40 knew? Yeah, that was the opposite of great. It was garbage wrestling and the ratings reflected it. That's one of the reasons Watts was fired.
Wcw Wargames 1992 > Anything wwf put out that year.
Yeah, WCW 1992 was great during Kip Frey. Watts? Hell no 😝
War Games is a Dusty work. Bill almost destroyed WCW
Bill wrecked the place. It's one of the FEW things about the behind-the-scenes things I picked up on as a young teenager. His time there made watching WCW a fucking chore.
I wonder if Prichard had to bring Watts coffee as well?
When it comes to vague explanations and no that never happened the coffee guy is the popular podcast
@@champwalkt1985 give him some credit, he kissed Vince's ass from the greatest distance with the podcast.
Probably after there klann meeting.
@@lusterthomas110 that was dick murdoch (supposedly)
Perfectly said at the end of this clip, Conrad. Great job.
Yeah buddy Saginaw Michigan born and raised!!!
Bill Watts was great to work for. McMahon's success was directly related to guys like JYD, Jake the Snake, DiBiase, Volkoff, Warrior Koko Ware, and many others who had become stars in MidSouth.
You worked for Watts?
Yes, in a behind the scenes role. I was never caught on camera until doing a job for the WWF(E). If you watch the video of a 15-year-old RVD kissing DiBiase's foot, I'm the balding ringside security in the red shirt between the ropes as Rob is standing up.
@@richall9654 Working Security doesn't mean you work for Watts bro
@@QuentinDude I know perfectly well the difference between working for the house (local) and being part of the crew, "bro"... and my paychecks didn't come from the venue; it was from MidSouth.
@@richall9654 I just called Bill Watts and he told me he has never heard of you ya jabroni!
Understanding the truth full and clear understanding
I’ve actually heard multiple interviews with the clique guys regarding Bill watch in WWF in the picture I’m getting is that when he first got there they really did hit it off good Bill and HBK, HHH, 123 Kid, Razor and Diesel, there was about two or three weeks were they really did get along with him and he really thought they were good for the company but then after that two or three weeks Rob things went South between Bill and the Kliq pretty fast.
Wasn't Bill Watts the one that banned all top rope maneuvers in WCW? He seemed like someone who really liked to make major decisions just to hear his own voice.
Clear understanding and the truth break it down my friend
Bill Watts once said, I'm afraid of no man. The thing I think he forgot was no man was scared of Bill Watts. Bill was a perfect example of power going to one's head. If I'm a independent contractor like the wrestlers Bill Watts is NOT going to tell me whether I can play cards or not. Watts thought he was bigger then he actually was.
What made him think he'd have any type of say over Mcmahon?😅🤣
Watts was a good booker
"I think Kevin is too smart to say something like that". He literally said that he told Bill that exact thing. Bruce forever the politician.
Bill Watts and Mid South was the best ever.... BAR NONE.
I love Nash as a personality but you get the impression here that he's a trash talker online and just says things for the online fandom.
I think the Lisa Wolfe quote to Vince was “my father doesn’t speak to me the way Bill Watts speaks to me” 🤣🤣🤣
I love Kevin Nash and he's always an interesting interview but I'm pretty sure he didn't buck up at Bill Watts like that. Like Bruce mentioned Bill Watts was only going to do Bill Watts stuff and Kevin Nash was too smart to do that because it would've immediately been an issue. The Bill Watts in the WWF was the same Bill Watts that you know of in WCW, UWF/Mid South, and anywhere else he was ever at.
Kevin is one of the biggest brown nosers there is.
That card playing ban was so ridiculous. A perfect way to sow malcontent in the locker room.
If I didn't know better, Watts was extremely triggered and his feelings were deeply hurt to his core, if he wasn't allowed to bully people.
No he was a hard-ass crusty relic from the territory days that had no interest in catering to egos and playing office politics.
@@FranzFerdinand76 That's harsh. It's like saying that to a 1970s girl from a 1990s girl.
@@FranzFerdinand76 thats why he didn't last
@@FranzFerdinand76he was a power hungry egotistical prick
"Absolutely no problem w production"
I guess Watts was just working then
"Apparently, you're out of touch. O.. and by the way.. here.. I eat YOU on the food chain!" -
Kevin Nash 1995 timeline
I think Bill Watts would beat Nash senseless in a shoot. This is also the same guy who said Bob Holly wouldn’t whip any of the kliq 🙄🙄🙄🙄
@@DBonaldi I actually don’t know. Nash would go for the eyeball. And he didn’t say that about Bob. He said: “Bob might be a tough guy. But he’s not beating all 4 of our asses.” It was Hall who said Nash would kill Holly. Nash looked at him as “Hardcore Holly.” Scott was looking at him like “Sparky Plug.”
@@nostalgiaman6816 Wow, thanks for the reply man. I see every single member of the Kliq as ass kissers who had Vince’s ear. None of them were known to be tough. Bill Watts, can be described as a machine in his day. Guess my opinion of the matter comes down to respect. I’ve a ton for Bill Watts and little to none for Nash.
nash never got bigger than watts
Nash always seems so insecure!
Conrad exactly right. Kevin Nash might be smart business ain't goodwresler and worker
WWF was less dysfunctional than WCW. However, Watts saw some dysfunction creeping into the roster. If Watts had been there, DX wouldn't have happened. The curtain call damn sure wouldn't have happened. Watts did make some brilliant moves such as In Your House and having title changes happen in these events
If I was in the business I would have said so it's your guys's fault I can't play cards in the locker room 😂
No ♠️♦️💎 🍀in the BUILDING
I've learned that Watts is very bitter. Lol very, very bitter. Lol
👽
I wonder how that ban on playing cards would have worked out with Andre? 😂
Hello you a
I think Nash was just talking shit because it is easy to do after the fact. Classic move of a keyboard warrior.
Bill Watts the tyrant and dinosaur...
keep crying
I sometimes miss the dinosaurs 😞
Bill wanted to be and tried to be a bully
It was bad hire Bill watts shouldn't have job either WCW or WWF shouldn't happen period
Def. a bad fit. Like trying to hire a country singer to front a death metal band.
Billy should have been happy enough Vince gave him Tekno Team 2000 and had no right to ask for anything else after that BS. Hard to believe these two " wrestling experts" don't bring that up. 🤔 HORRIBLE JOB.👎
Then again we are talking about Blubber Love ❤️ another Vince fantasy 😂
lol Kevin Nash rules.
