Teller is like a musician who loves listening to others perform music. Whether he can perform as well or better is not important, he just loves the artform and respects those who perform well. And that's exactly what you see in so many of these performances.
Absolutely. There's something about having the confidence to ask the people you are trying to fool literally right there and even partaking in the trick.
Such a great routine! I dont think it was mentioned but the prediction card being purple is a real nice touch - combining the blue cards and the red to make purple
Purple back is in my set too. Two Cards of a Red and a Blue Back fuse together into a larger value card with a Purple Back on it. This kid is good, though.
Can someone explain, I know they had to put the card into the box and close it, but what made it align and stick. How does the flap work. The card was face down, so it had to stick at the bottom. Was it not risky since they put the card, they closed it and they gave the card from box to his hand

Too funny, as I just watched (for the very first time) that cartoon to car trick, earlier tonight. It looks so cool/magical. Your card trick was also amazing & nicely routined. Great job & look forward to watching more of your work!!
I think the main issue with this trick is that it’s “too good”. The match box card makes it worse, almost, because it means the trick had to be a force, and since penn and teller were given free choice to select a card, that really the only place to make the trick work is inside the box, which was basically an unjustified step between the selection and the reveal, otherwise. I think it’s a neat gimmick, but the plot of the trick needs some work, imo.
One of these days some magician is going to use this as a ruse to fool them. Basically a difficult extra trick thrown in there just to make a free choice look like a force and throw them off. Magic is, after all, misdirection!
the main issue is how blatantly anticlimactic they decided the show should be for the sake of performers in the same league as ventriloquists and mimes. the genius parts of illusions are sleight of hand, misdirection, and their design and construction. other than that, it's like pro-wrestling when they used to never break character and insist it was all real and not a performance.
Most spectators don't really think like this but of course Penn and Teller would. So to fool them this is a flaw of the performance. I have to say though since he opens up the card himself I wouldn't be quite sure that it is a force if he showed it live. Since this typically is only done when something gets swapped out. Of course when watching a video you can rewind and verify that.
and here (on seeing the trick finish - haven't gotten to the analysis yet) is why this show is great - evolution (of magic) in action. every contender is now pushing the envelope and making magic itself better for it, in doing their bits for this show.
At least Penn and Teller did not try to screw with the audience. They saw exactly what Sean did at the end, and camera moves tried to make it less obvious right after. It was still visible how he had to hide and than get rid of a prop at the end.
This was a great routine, and well performed...and the patter was great! Thanks for the video! Never mind the negative comments. These people are behind a keyboard....and will never be in the arena...
As a layperson, the part I didn't like is that there is only one way that the cards could match, and that automatically removes the fun. Forces are okay as long as there doubt remains in the audience's mind.
That was a fabulous trick. I have no idea how it was done but there were two areas where it appeared he was switching things. One came just after he took the small box from Teller, you can tell just after the match drops out that the box is not clear on the side facing the table because what looked like afolded up card was in fact just a picture of a folded up card with the match concealed behind it. When he tilted the box the picture fell forward (6:12, see? you can't see through the bottom facing the table and one edge of the picture is actually bent up a tiny bit) and the match fell out. He then moved to remove the picture with his left hand and showed the box to be perfectly clear while he dumped the fake card. The other move came as he opened the card that was in the match box but was not as obvious as the first move with Teller. How he got the two Kings from the cards Penn and Teller handled is WAY beyond my comprehension, especially since Penn added another card to his stack on his second thought! It was a wonderful trick but I think Penn and Teller both spotted him concealing and dumping the card from Teller's box and pulling the matchstick out of Penns box revealing only the card, which was enough to call the trick busted. I have subscribed because the trick was very impressive, especially knowing you made this up yourself! Quite creative!
There where some flashy moves there after the match reveal that I caught without even trying to look for them, but other than that it was a wonderful routine.
Good trick but it was bold to perform it so close to Penn and Teller. Audience members would fell for it and trick would be more difficult to figure it out.
Nothing other than those two possible words is my guess as well. E/thing else they said seemed to be "normal" conversation & common verbiage that a/one would use.
Would have been better without the match part - that was too obvious. Ditching the folded up card, palming the match from the box, etc., it was extremely easy to spot. The card trick was cool though.
In his mind because he's never seen it or copied it he created it, just like multiple people invented the telephone and radio before Bell and Marconi working on their own but only 2 guys got them patented, marketed... but 99.99 percent of magic has been done and sometimes not known (trade secret) or old and obscure, there's literally thousands of books on just card magic... some out of print. .. but if you're a magician I'm preaching to the quoir lol
the matchbox screw it up the trick, Penn already knew it by saying "FLAP" that prop box was a mistake giving it to penn... he got balls to do it but ultimately blew up in his face.
As soon as I saw the clear box I thought, "Oh, another version of John Kennedy's box. I know what this is." and then, the card "changed" into the match and I was like, "Ok, maybe I don't know what this is." lol Still, Corner piece is a GREAT trick. Maybe he would have had better luck performing that on here?
Nice use of several existing props. Lol Japanese card change box is awesome i have one from Japan. I guess he has two. 😊 The clear change box. . Etc I guess he created the routine... Not to be confused with the props.
The end part with the match and card switching places gave out the trick, he needs to perfect that one part. It was obvious he had the match inside with the card on the clear box and he put away the card when he let the match come out and then the same for the match box. Forcing the cards to be the same has been done many times by too many magicians. But the trick itself was good for an audience that doesn't know how magic tricks are done.
Dont care that you didnt fool P&T, this was easily one of my favourite routines I've seen on the show. Great work!
Thank you for not spoiling it in the title
he basicly did, was obvious he didnt fool em if that's the title.
Tellers look of joy and amazement when he dropped the match out of the clear box was gold. Great trick.
This idea is from robert romirez
he wasnt with joy he was having fun ... because clearly see the magnet ahahah
Teller is like a musician who loves listening to others perform music. Whether he can perform as well or better is not important, he just loves the artform and respects those who perform well. And that's exactly what you see in so many of these performances.
Automatically love a magician who has the balls to invite Penn and Teller up to the stage. Great act
Absolutely. There's something about having the confidence to ask the people you are trying to fool literally right there and even partaking in the trick.
You just like balls
Such a great routine! I dont think it was mentioned but the prediction card being purple is a real nice touch - combining the blue cards and the red to make purple
wow so clever 🤡🤡🤡😂
also, purple shoes & shirt
Purple back is in my set too. Two Cards of a Red and a Blue Back fuse together into a larger value card with a Purple Back on it. This kid is good, though.
I met him at IBM and purple is his trademark. He only wears glasses for the purple frame.
Mad props both for performing right in front of them and also for designing your own tricks!
Mad props indeed
Absolutely fantastic trick! I loved how you incorporated the matchstick. I didn't see that coming at all. Just wonderful!
For the keen eyes . Penn shake the card box to test to prop . Teller use his thumb to find a secret compartment in the card box . They knew it.
Bravo. This is exactly it. I believe Penn also sightly squeezed the box as he was looking into it before he folded the top flap down.
M’kay
The reason he asked to keep the card in box, instead of showing it directly means, the box contain a secret
😮😮😅

That's a great routine, Sean! Well done.
My only disappointment was the lack of a pun about the final card also, in fact, being a match
The pun was there. Just not spelled out.
@@goffe2282 TV Tropes calls that a "stealth pun".

This made me happy. ❤❤ Thank you!
This was amazing, looking forward to seeing more of your performances.
Fantastic magic, can’t be easy performing so close to Penn & Teller, you did great, Bravo 👏
The code words are “flap” and “stick together” referring to the box and the card
I know they had to put the card into the box and close it, but what made it align and stick. How does the flap work. The card was face down, so it had to stick at the bottom. Was it not risky since they put the card, they closed it and they gave the card from box to his hand
@@oneearthan could be double sided cards? Maybe every card is a king of clubs and he somehow removes the other side
Could be a simple flap that simultaneously traps the inserted cards and releases the matching pair of pre-set cards.
@@oneearthan Flap is inside the transparent box you see his thumb gets reflected on the backside of the the flap..or it was real magic.

I think it weakens any trick when the ending shows you that there was a force.
@@jamesreed5678 I agree. (for what its worth :)

Amazing work! Finally some inovation!
ok, i normally skip the intros but this one i didn't, and that 4-card thing with sliding the King up a card on every shake? THAT was really cool.

My 1st time seeing a Consulting (Inventor) Magician. Hats off to Sean Ridgeway, a truly smart guy.
I commented so loudly on this that my wife began to question my sanity...
I feel like this guy only does only bicep workouts
Amazing, love it!

This guy is definitely Mr Mackey in disguise umm-kay!
Good job sir. That's a fantastic trick.
You got nerves of steel kid. Well done.
Have Going Up and love it.
great trick. you fooled me!!
Huge respect to penn and teller even tho they know exactly about the box but still choose to watch even tho he challenge them to mess him up hahaha
Great performance! I have no idea how it was done...
I get the props, but how on Earth did he do the Force? What am i missing😅
Is it me or is that guy’s arms really weird?

The operative word Penn said was flap
Gimmick boxes all around. The clever part of the trick is designing the props so that they work consistently every time.
Knowing one part would not be enough. They figured out the whole thing
@@davidg11235He makes a little move at 5:25 that looks suspicious

Everybody gave Allison heck for being a dork, but Brooke is just boring.
Very impressive trick! Great performance. If you were nervous, you didn't show it!
You could also see him hide the card from the box after the matches drop
He could play Clark Kent in a Superman movie.

Harry Potter and the pre workout protein 😂

Ballz of steel to perform close up infront of both of them
Yeah I see a lot of magicians doing "close-up" magic sitting way back on stage. So this is definitely a flex.
Anyone else notice how massive this guys arms are?
Can't have magic gains without gains!
it's not so much that they're massive as that he doesn't look or sound like a guy who would lift. Good for him, screw stereotypes.
his hands and head are so tiny, is he taking steroids?
