Somehow skoda cars makes sense to me in a way i can't explain.

Call me boring and old fashioned but i really like this conservative style of interior. I would much rather prefer this over something found in a ford or Opel.
Skoda really has improved a lot, most of it thanks to VW id say. Either way im quite impressed

The interior-design of the Kodiaq is a good step forward. I hope this progress continues with the Yeti-successor.
Consumation is that bad. Auris Touring Sport (not hybrid drive the old 1.6L ) consume 6.1L /100km. Autobahn 125km/h in Sommer. So why buy such a new car who last not that 200'000km that i need in 15 years.
Thanks Thomas! I'm sure this is a very sensible choice, but I can't get used to the looks of the exterior. The interior is much better and the seats look great!
With regards to the DSG sport mode: if it works the same as my DSG (Golf GTI), then pushing the lever to the right will put it in manual mode, not sport mode. That is why it wouldn't shift anymore when you did that.
In order to switch between D and S, you need to pull the lever back (so move it to the rear of the car). The display will then also show 'S' instead of 'D'. If it doesn't show either D or S (as it did for you in the video), it means you're in manual mode. Or at least that's how it is in my car..
How does the ride quality compare to the Fabia?

For a family man, a good choice. Suspension is too harsh for me and I would go for the smaller engine. By the way, do VW direct injection engines suffer from carbon build up in the inlet ports?
Ronald de Rooij common problem on GDI engines,mitsubishi Gdi did require decokes.

I prefer the Hatch over the Sedan, but if I'm honest, I prefer the Golf to both of them Thomas. Great review as always. I like the way you always shake the handles on the doors - it's the first thing I notice and judge a car's material / build quality. With you all the way on use of leather, by the way. Note to Skoda: Calling a car rapid doesn't make it faster.

I buy mine White new in 2016, car was a showroom car, 1.4 tsi manual, Altought the vin code comes as 1.6 in a VAG dealer. It haves sport seats black all around with triangle padron, then is more a less the same as this. It does have 17 wheels with a better design than the ones on this one. The only thing i complain is in my spaceback its missing some of rubber on the Windows, só the Wind noise is high. At 120 Its ok. At 160kmh its barebell.. overall for what i paid for it im happy. Skoda manteinance is expensive! Dont think because its a cheap car, maintenence is cheap.
To be honest the sport version has more appearance... I like the rapid but the interior quality is way below than it should be,full with cheap and easy to scratch plastic. The touch screen media system is slow and the display has way to low resolution and blurry too. Steering a bit buttery and feels goes away. I like the gearbox a lot,easy shift very responsive,go for the manual. The sport seats are great too, much better than a lot premium category cars.Boot space guys, that is horrendous, love it and the car quiet compact.I like the saloon anyways, but could be a more wider though-i feel it like to be a bit to slim to look at.AND yeah 18 inch wheels minimum.

Rapid Spaceback ist noch kein MQB Fahrzeug. polo V Vorderachse, Golf IV Hinterachse.
Ist aber ei gutes Auto, der Golf ist aber trotzdem noch eine Klasse höher. haben selber einen Rapid Sb, ist ein sehr gutes Auto fürs Geld. Nächstes Jahr soll ja das Facelift kommen, bin sehr gespannt

Also ich habe selbst einen Spaceback und muss sagen ich bin sehr zufrieden. Ich habe den 1.6er Diesel BJ 12/14. Das Fahrgefühl finde ich super und auf der Autobahn macht er einen heiden Spaß. Natürlich ist klar, dass man bei neuerem BJ mehr Schnickschnack und mehr Assistenten bekommt. Aber für mich reicht meiner. Sehr zu empfehlen wer nicht das High Budget hat.

Hallo Thomas nice review, but there is one! nice mistake. This car doesn't sit on the MQB-Platform. It is a streched VW Polo V (the actual model) Platform. The Skodas sitting on MQB are: Kodiaq, Octavia and Superb. The Fabia is using a mix Platform between MQB and an evolution of the previous model.

Thank you for the response and the fast reaction time. May be it doesn't matter so much to the people. But that is the reason, while the car is so price sensitive, has not the best wind Isolation and not the latest assistence systems. But I think it would be change with the next generation, if there would be a next version of the rapid...

Thanks for another nice presentation. Interior in this car should match the colour outside. I don't like the nice green colour combined with the red accents inside. But, generally, it's a good, practical car but a little bit boring.

Gibt aber kleinen Fehler in dem Video. Er wechselt von automatisch nach manuell, nicht von automatisch nach Sport. Stick nach hinten, nicht nach rechts.

I tried this monte carlo version in dealer.I liked this car except seat covers' colors.They may be black.And also I didnt like armrest.It seems like my fiat puntos' armrest.It seems very cheap and useless.
in my opinion the exterior is rather poor designed but the interior especially with skyview I like. compared with a mazda 3 is there any difference in sound insulation?

At 35:00 Thomas mentioned the car he is driving as 1.2 L turbo. Is it 1.4 TSI or 1.2 TSI ?

Hello, first of all i love Tomas reviews. I watch at least 3 every day. I own a Skoda Rapid, hatch or sedan.. 1.0 TSI, and all i can say is, that Skoda is simply clever, and a very good car. My next car it might be also a Skoda.. but i consider the SUV class

27:20 I think you are using the transmission S-mode incorrectly. As far as I saw it, you did not put the car into S-mode but in M-mode. To get into the S-mode you have to pull the stick back, not to the right, to switch it from D to S. Because of course the car changes gears automatically when driving in S-mode

Thomas, what are your opinion about the Octavia's 2017 update and the plans of Škoda having a market for North America?
They are building great cars, they could succeed everywhere. The Octavia updates seem fine, no big deal though.
Autogefühl I don't like the headlights... :/ Cutting them in half like the 2011 Mercedes-Benz E-Class makes it bit... bit ugly... BTW what the Monte Carlo really is for Škoda? Something similar to the Laurin & Klement? What are the big differences with Monte Carlo and the regular ones (a part of the black accents and the blacked out Škoda badge) ? If you mentioned it in the video, i'm sorry, i just don't have the time to see the review. :)
hm yeah that headlight cut seems weird, no clue why they do that as this is against any other design language they have developed. I will ask Jozef Kaban when I meet him next time
and yes I do mention the differences in the video. And I dont do 50 minute videos just to answer the questions to the cars in the comments. Try speed 1.25 if you think you have less time!

pandekage 123 I love Škodas, even though i haven't driven them. In fact, i haven't driven a single on of them, but i definitely know, that the cars are great depending on the owner quotes and the fact that Škoda won Latvia's Car Of The Year 2012 (Octavia) and 2017 (Kodiaq)... :)

ah ok. Yeah that could happen in Germany as well, the sedan is hardly existent. But the Spaceback is doing fine.

Ja das habe ich. In einem Kommentar darunter habt ihr ja geschrieben dass ihr die 5-Türer bzw. Kombivariante auch noch testen wollt dieses Jahr, deswegen wollte ich jetzt mal nachfragen ;) Würde mich über ein Video zum 5-Türer T-Jet Lounge Modell freuen. Ansonsten großes Kompliment für die sehr ausführlichen und detaillierten Videos, weiter so ;)

Bandiet the Ibiza has no real back seats, its more like a prison. the Rapid is mich better with a kid or 3rd passenger.
Some skodas look great and sporty but that looks absolutely boring! Really need better styling!

HawaiWillSink erzähl das mal jemandem der kein so großes Budget hat und dennoch ein gutes Auto will. Das Fahrzeug schlägt den Polo um Längen was Alltagstauglichkeit angeht. Andere zahlen mehr Geld für weniger Platz und schöneres Design. Einer der besten Skodas wie ich finde, genau das was ich suche.
