    Honda should use your line in ads for the cub. From small sport bike to Peruvian donkey, the cub does it all. That 36 is why you ride.

    🎶 Honda, Honda, goin’ faster, faster...
    First gear, it’s alright,
    Second gear, I lean right,
    Third gear, hang on tight,
    Faster, it’s alright... 🎶 😊

    I am impressed (and surprised) with the performance of the Cub (pulling a trailer) on CA-36. Who knew?

    What is the Red part over your tank?
    Extra tank or what..

    • @QuasiMotard
      @QuasiMotard  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, those are our "Neil" tanks. Our buddy Neil fabricated those tanks and mounts for us to use on our travels. They are steel jerry cans with ~1.3 gallon capacity. We don't have them plumbed into the main fuel system as auxiliary tanks, so we just use them for emergency fuel reserves to refill on the side of the road. Cheers! 😉👍 --QM

    I found my dog as a puppy in some bushes on a random pullout on the cliff side of highway 36. West of red bluff about 45 minutes. I always wondered if you could take a lil scooter on 36 all the way, great video

    I live a couple of hours south of Red Bluff and CA-36 and have always heard about 36 but never ridden it. Here in California it's an epic must-do road on a motorcycle. Before your video I hadn't seen any footage of what the road actually looks like. You've convinced me I've got to ride 36 to Fortuna and then probably back home along the coast highway. Definitely in the springtime when the slopes are green. The road had been closed to construction for over a year just recently. FYI - The spayed sawdust you saw is mixed with native grass seed to revegetate the newly excavated slopes.

    Only part way through watching this and I can already tell it’s going to be another great video. Like all of these it really shows what a great small bike the Cub is. I certainly agree with you about the handling, it’s one of the best features of them. It’s just a shame we can’t tow a trailer with one here in the UK, it’s illegal for a bike under 125 to do that. It’s a really great solution for a road trip, we have to strap all our gear to the bike.

    Rode CA 36 in June of 21. Part of a 13,000 mile trip. Rode several of the same roads you were on in your other videos. I rode a BMW 1250 GS which is a bit more comfy than your cub. Have enjoyed your videos of the trip. Nice work!

    Thanks for posting this! Never quite found the time to ride 36 though I've travelled either side of it (coast and I5) countless times having lived in the Bay Area many years. You've inspired us to make this a "must do" ride the next time we head south. Based on your comments and the footage, it seems like taking our cub and another small bike may be more fun than taking our 125 HP sport tourer. Again, thanks very much for sharing with us.

    Nice ride! I have been riding since 1968 and sold my VTX 1800. I was getting too old to hold up 900 pounds.The mini moto thing intrigues me and I am itching to get another bike. At 6'3 and 305 pounds, would the Cub have enough power to propel me down the road? I mainly run two lane roads but I am not allergic to the interstate to get somewhere cool to ride. I would like to be able to at least run 70 on the interstate to keep from getting run over. Any suggestions?

    The last day was by far the most technical. Also exciting was the detour around the Dixie fire and the alerts to evacuate the area. The last climb over the ridge before dropping down towards Eureka was challenging as the road was in such poor condition.

    another superb episode, love the undulating road section.
    Interesting to note in the last 9 videos the other drivers have been looking really good - in this video not so much... (Californian drivers?)

    • @QuasiMotard
      @QuasiMotard  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's an accurate observation! We had encounters with a few crazy cagers during our trek across the USA, but I can definitely say that Pennsylvania and California had the worst drivers by far. We had numerous near head-on accidents and other road rage incidents in CA, so their reputation of being a "motorcycle friendly" state might just be a myth! 🤣👍 --QM

    It seems to me like this trip punishes you with washboard gravel & then soothes you with panoramic twisties right after 😎Mind you those twisties with the mega drop to the side would have been a bit Bum-Clenching !!
    How did the trailer tyres hold out, I don't recall you mentioning that you had to change one at any point Aaron?

    Omg thank you for leaving most of the ride footage uncut. That was a fantastic road,except maybe the truck drivers being idiots and its looking like 100°F out there. I wonder how this road would be in mid autumn/early winter(if winter ever reaches there).
    The Super Cub is already perfect as it is but i'd love it more if it had maybe a 160cc engine,like from the new PCX or the 190cc engine from the CB190 i currently have. Just a little bit more power for highway and uphill rides

    Your springs absorb the bumps and the fork oil dampens the return so unless it's gas charged the forks down action is the purpose of shocks. The springs help the return. I hope I explained it well enough?

  • @Terry_1111
    @Terry_1111 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Quasi, I think this series has convinced me that my next purchase should be a Super Cub! I know it's been slow, especially on the inclines, but I'm impressed by the fact that it's traveling wide open and pulling a trailer! How often do you have to replace the trailer tire? Also, you may have already addressed this in another video, but how much weight are you carrying on the bike and pulling on the trailer? Safe travels!

    • @QuasiMotard
      @QuasiMotard  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks for the feedback! The trailer tire will probably outlast the bike at the current rate of decay. It's not handling very much weight, so it still looks new after 10K miles. The loaded trailer weight was ~85-90 pounds during our trip, so that weight is halved between the two contact points... that means the trailer tire is handling 40-45 lbs and the Cub's rear tire/axle is holding the remainder (assuming that the weight balance is 50/50).
      I hope you find a good fit with a Super Cub... they are absolutely fantastic machines! Cheers! 😉👍 --QM

      I did, and it looks great! I'll bet that this will siphon away some of Honda's Monkey buyers because it has a very similar layout and retro appeal. I wonder about the fuel capacity... probably around 1 gallon under the seat like the Super Cub. 😉👍 --QM

    Really like the overlay... What are you using?

    • @QuasiMotard
      @QuasiMotard  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! The gauge data is recorded by the GoPro Hero7 Black camera and my Garmin GPS. The software that creates the gauge overlay is called GoPro Telemetry Extractor ( goprotelemetryextractor.com/ ). It will work with any GPS data streams from the GoPro or other devices (e.g., Garmin, DJI, etc). I use TE to combine my GoPro data and also the GPX files from my Garmin Zumo GPS to achieve better accuracy. Cheers! 😉👍 --QM
