Of course, we also have UWB tracking :-)

  • UWB is the next best thing after Marvelmind Indoor "GPS" in terms of accuracy. Indoor "GPS" based on Ultrasound+Radio gives ±2cm (typ.). UWB - ±10..30cm. See a comparison: • Ultrasound RTLS vs. UW... .
None of the technologies or solutions is perfect for all cases. And UWB can be good enough, for example, for people tracking, when under 0.5-1m accuracy is required. Also, UWB could be a great solution in presence of very strong acoustic noise, for example, taking off airplanes or air guns, etc. - sources of white wideband acoustic noise that goes to ultrasound and can limit the range of even completely block Marvelmind Indoor "GPS".
UWB is using radio. And radio, formally speaking, could go through the body, i.e. there would a line sight. But, in practice, it becomes pretty unreliable.
We strongly recommend to always build the system only with the assumption of line of sight. That gives confidence in tracking. That gives precision. Non-line of sight is a risky approach that will may fail you sooner or later. Thus, for the real cases, build only with the assumption of line of sight requirement between the stationary beacons (anchors) and the mobile beacon (tag).
