My thoughts exactly. I watch MTM show every night. It's like spending time with good friends in and era that I miss.... the 70's ( I was a kid then) . So sad they're all gone now.
Valerie had a terminal illness when she taped this interview and wasn't expected to live much longer, yet she outlived both Mary and Georgia. She really was an amazing woman. RIP.
I remember when it was leaked out Mary was doing bad in 2015 and she was ready to die. She was expected to die in 2016 but lived until Jan 2017. Valerie was expected to die in 2012 but she kept pushing and chugging along. I loved her optimism and positive attitude she always had even with the situation over her series on NBC. She stated she was not mad at how it went down but glad she took a stand.
And I think very kind too. I met her once while I staying with a friend (in Valerie's building) on the upper west side. We were both waiting for the elevator (and her daughter was there too - think she was 2 years behind me in hs). I was there visiting NYU campus back in 1999 and Valerie was real kind to me. They were about to make lunch and invited me (cause I mentioned how everything was way expensive there). I'd already eaten, but now I wish I'd said yes - just didn't know a whole lot about her at the time (had maybe seen MTM show couple times). Anyway, it was a nice memory of her (very motherly I thought - and kind), and although her daughter didn't say much, she also seemed nice (and very bright).
We will never have an ensemble cast of such talented actresses ever. They loved and respected each other and they made a milestone comedy show in the Mary Tyler Moore show. Thank you wonderful women for making the world a better place. RIP Mary, Valerie, Cloris, Betty, and Georgia. Love was all around for 7 years. Don't go to the funeral until the day of the funeral!!!
I teared up watching this, I was a kid in the 70s watching The Mary Tyler Moore Show on Saturday nights on our color TV in the living room. Only Betty White and Cloris Leachman are still alive. Thanks TH-cam we will have this video clip forever.

RIP Valerie Harper August 30, 2019. I really liked Georgia Engel on Everybody Loves Raymond too. May be also RIP. I was so sad when I heard that Mary Tyler Moore died on January 25, 2017. She was such a HUGE voice for animals and a long-time animal rights activist, had advocated for animal rights for years and supported charities like the ASPCA and Farm Sanctuary. She helped raise awareness about factory farming methods and promoted more compassionate treatment of farm animals Cloris Leachman is a vegetarian as was Mary Tyler Moore. Cloris Leachman also posed clad only in lettuce for a 2009 PETA advertisement. She starred in a comedic 2013 spay and neuter ad for PETA. Betty White is with us still. Arthur joined PETA in 1987 after a Golden Girls anti-fur episode. Arthur wrote letters, made personal appearances and placed ads against the use of furs, foie gras, and farm animal cruelty by KFC suppliers. Rue McClanahan was an animal welfare advocate and vegetarian. McClanahan was one of the first celebrity supporters of PETA. She supported Alley Cat Allies, a nonprofit advocacy organization dedicated to transforming communities to protect and improve the lives of cats, and also appeared in a public service announcement for the organization in early 2010. RIP BEAUTIFUL STRONG YET COMPASSIONATE WOMEN THAT MADE IT IN TELEVISION !!

How funny this clip just appeared on my TH-cam feed just as I began binge watching The Mary Tyler Moore show. I get so emotional when I watch because I can’t believe that they’re all no longer with us. Even the male stars of the show are gone. What a wonderful show this was I was 12 yrs old in 1971 when it premiered. ❤️
Interesting to see how they were all concerned for Valerie Harper but it was Mary that passed away soon after this. And now Valerie is at rest too. Thanks ladies for all the fun you gave us, watching you was so entertaining!!!
I'm really glad I came across this clip, love all the ladies...but Valerie was and is my favorite...loved Rhoda as a little girl, and always wished I had a sister just like her...Rest in Peace, Valerie...With Love

I was in middle school when this show was on, but it was my mom's favorite, so we always watched it. I got hooked on it, too. It's amazing to see now how young these actors were back then. The laughs were genuine. Good times.
Love those ladies especially Mary - whom I idolized and provided young women to inspire to a better career and possible future! RIP - I will miss you! :-(

And now Valerie is gone too. :-( These ladies were amazing! As someone who generally was a “Mary”, I have to disagree with Valerie’s take on “Mary is who you wished you were”... I always wanted to be a Rhoda... unafraid to speak my mind and brave enough to kick the butts of anyone who tried to push me around instead of just smiling and taking the hits. Rhoda/Valerie was always my idol. :-(

So sad to hear that the last one (Betty White) just passed away before her 100 birthday! I'm thankful for you all! 😀💗😘 And thanks to reruns I still watch the MTM show. One of the greatest shows and cast ever! Thank you so much girls! 😘
And Betty White made it the longest out of all of them too, and was at least 14 years older than all of them. Amazing. Can’t believe all of them are gone now. :(
Amazing women, amazing actors and they have left an amazing legacy. Betty White of course is still with us, at the age of ninety nine, she'll become a hundred in January 2022. Now that's amazing!
It’s kind of amazing that the two oldest of these amazing ladies are the last surviving ... what a group! They gave us all so much laughter and love.... RIP the ones we have last be glad for the two wonderful remaining with us!
Cloris, Gavin and Ed all passing within a year of each other, Ed being the last in August 2021. That leaves Betty as lone surviving member. I hope she makes it at least to her 100th birthday in Jan 2022. Godspeed, Betty !
Mom & friends were the best ever. I watched as a kid Moved to Minneapolis got my own apartment , career and did not feel pressure to get married. Mary was all that for me.
Betty White, through her long career, is still going strong. She was a leading character in three major sitcoms: The Mary Tyler Moore show from 1973 - 1977, Golden Girls from 1985 - 1992, and Hot in Cleveland from 2010 - 2015. She had already been in television decades before any of those shows. She even had her own series, Life With Elizabeth, from 1953 - 1955.

I am a man, and I was eleven when The Mary Tyler Moore Show premiered, so I wasn't watching it. I was watching Hee Haw. But as I got older and more aware, I began watching this show. Even though I didn't understand some of the sophisticated writing, I knew I was watching something special. I rediscovered this show on Nick at Nite in the 90's and was astonished at how polished the writing is, how perfect the acting is and how seamlessly the show's episodes were filmed. I've been watching it religiously ever since, even buying every season on DVD. Now, with all of them gone, I can honestly say that I feel like I've lost friends. The feminism issue was lost on me at the time, but I get it now. And I see it for what it is, a classy, sophisticated sitcom created by perfectionists who respected their audience. The show is for anyone who desires true comedy, wit, sophistication. RIP everyone at MTM and thank you for decades of unbelievable entertainment.
I was to young to be interested in the orig run but as I got older I watched MTM and I've seen it so many times. I liked them all but my fav was Rhoda and it kinda hits at the heart to find out she is sick and dying. The theme song became my personal theme song when I was in my senior year.
Most kids in my high school were going out on Saturday night, but I just couldn't miss The Bob Newhart show and MTM. There were no VCR's to tape and watch it later. You had to be there or wait for reruns and I had to be there. Rhoda was my favorite until Sue Ann came along. She was my alter ego, along with Mae West. These actors and the writing were amazing. And of course, anything that Betty White touched was television gold. If you get a chance, read one of her books. My favorite was If You Ask Me (And of Course, You won't).
I'm currently re-watching all the episodes of RHODA which I remember from my childhood - it's as funny or maybe funnier now than as it was then. Great writing & acting. Maybe I'll watch for the first time The MTM show once I've done :) Thank you ladies for making me laugh.
The really amazing fact is that of all the regulars on the Mary Tyler Moore Show, Betty White was the oldest, but didn't just live to the oldest age, she outlived every other cast member. Betty White was the oldest of 4 cast members born in the Roaring 20's (1/17/ 1922). The other 3 were Ted Knight (12/7/1923), Cloris Leachman (4/30/1926) and Ed Asner (11/15/1929). The cast as a whole was very long lived. The only two cast members that didn't live to be at least 80 were Ted Knight (62 of cancer) and Georgia Engel (70 unknown causes). White, Leachman, Asner, and Gavin MacLeod lived into their 90's.
I'm watching this 10 years later and realizing all these women have since passed on. R.I.P.
They each left us decades of work to enjoy, not a bad legacy.
Rest in peace
Mary Taylor Moore 1936-2017

Didn't realize that. I knew Valerie was ill but didnt hear about her dying. Sorry to hear that .
True from this group interviewed but Gavin MacLeod is the 3rd remaining cast member still alive.
@@deeice5398 Ed Asner is still alive.
@@Gio_Vanni6143 Yes of course how can I have forgotten Ed!!!! Yes true. He is thankfully still with us! Thx for the reminder Gio!
Betty & Cloris were the oldest, too.
Without question, by a million miles, the absolute best opening tv theme song EVER. LOVE IS ALL AROUND BY SONNY CURTIS.
I'm currently re-watching all the episodes of RHODA which I remember from my childhood - it's as funny or maybe funnier now than as it was then. Great writing & acting. Maybe I'll watch for the first time The MTM show once I've done :)
Thank you ladies for making me laugh.
National treasures.
And sadly no longer with us .... RIP ladies I loved the MTM show ...
Rest in peace...
RIP Mary Tyler Moore.
They were a great talented cast. Loved MTM and Rhoda
I think we know how Georgia died. It may have been her body that struck the final blow, but it was her Christian science that killed her.
