I am truly humbled by those who have a feather's touch of such a mass of weight. Props to the captain and deck hands

This brings back so many good memories of decking on the upper in the early '80s.
Wish i had kept at it instead of construction. But i ended up helping build lock and dams in Mississippi on the Tennessee-Tombigbee waterway. Then weny on to steel fabrication and working as lead fitter on the Red river emergency gates 5 sections, then one and half years of flood control gates for the Mississippi, and finally the lock 25 gates for the new lock and a set to dam off the old lock there. The allowed tolerence that the corp of engineers allowed? 1/16 of an inch. Thankfully, they all passed. I had some really skilled fitters and welders working with me on those projects and im very grateful to have had the opprotunity to help improve our great countrys infrastructure. Retired now, just reminiscing about my experiences that i wouldnt trade for anything.

Very cool you went out on the barges. Love to see that different perspective of the boat. That part of the Mississippi River is really pretty. Damn, that first houseboat that went past you is a 70' Monticello River Yacht, we had a sister boat of that one we ran on the Ohio out of Cincinnati. Loved that boat to run it, but she was thirsty to run. It didn't have diesels but Mercruiser 8.1 Horizon gas V-Drive inboards. Smooth engines, but they suck down gasoline. Actually, upon rewatching the video, that was not a 70 footer, but either the 52 or 60 foot models of the Monticello.

Thanks Kyle, for the new perspective. A lot of tripping hazards out there though. Really appreciate what your crew members have to deal with just doing their job.

Thank you for the touring trip out on the tow. That was great! Many memories decking. Sure do remember those scissor breast wires. Over on the Ohio, Green, and Cumberland we ran jockeyed rather than straight fore and afts or a mixture. Decking on the Lower was all straights. Once, on the Harry M. Mack, the old WWII vet mate asked if I could lay the wires on a pickup the tug was bringing in while he was working one length back. I jockeyed the fore and afts and he about had a cow!

Great video Captain it was nice seeing what your crewmen do. So sorry about your back, going through the same thing myself. A friend of mine gave me some Hempvana pain relief cream to use and it works wonders. I screwed up my back working with horses and at Walmart. I have never had anything work so good on pain as the Hempvana cream. Figure I would let you know about it if you haven't tried it. Hope it feels better soon. Mine is my sciatic nerve and that shit works

Captain, watched your livestream, sorry to hear about your back, I know all too well what you're going through. I found that cycolbenzaprine works well in combination with ketorolac for my back, neither are addictive. Prescribed by my doctor.Take care, love your channel!
