- Best friends Clay Clayburn (James Craig) and Will Denning (Guy Madison) graduate from West Point and visit their friend and fellow graduate Braxton (Craig Stevens) at his Georgia plantation in 1861. Clay had once loved Braxton's wife Kathy (Barbara Payton) and still does. When war is declared they soon find themselves fighting on opposite sides of the Civil War.

I do believe that at the age of almost 70 I have never seen this Western before or American Civil War movie before. Thank you. One of the best films I've seen in a long time

Not a western. Its a war movie between the north and the south.
One of the best movies of the America Civil War, great story of one brothers on either side trying to defeat the opponent in war. The efforts to put the cannons on top of devils mountain commendable

First watched this flick on one of several Independent TV stations in Los Angeles, KTLA 5, KHJ 9, KTTV 11, KCOP, 13 in 1964, awful movie lousy editing,just hideous, for a 10 year old I felt gypped!! lol
I agree. I'm only 10 minutes into the movie and its not looking very promising. Oh yes, the days of the minor TV stations in Los Angeles. I recall them well. KTLA and KTTV was owned by Gene Autry.
