1:17:40 When the Eastern churches were destroying their statues and icons during the Iconoclasm it was the Western church that stopped it and brought sanity to a runaway situation.
To this day the Eastern churches do not have statues, they never recovered from this heresy. They almost lost their Icons.
It is also notable that it wasn't a religious leader that began Iconoclasm but a mere lay men Byzantine Emperor Leo III. He told the Church what it should do, and they followed this instruction.
The difference between them was the Pope did not listen while the other Patriarchs did, with I think one exception.
This is but a tiny reason compared to all the councils that have been called but are not accepted by the East.

What heresy? Have no icons? That's not heresy. Can't force anyone to have icons or not

*Iconoclasm* look it up. Many non-Catholic Christians still suffer from it.

Is that the reason why the catholic church took out the 2nd commandment? You can't cover up idol worship by eliminating one of God's commandments? That's not a good idea, according to revelation 22:18-19..

      Google iconoclasm.
People can be forced to have or not have just about anything.

@@louisvega-oe2sc first off. Revelation 22 is not talking about the Bible as a whole. The Bible as a book came 300 years after it was written. Revelation is talking about itself. Don't take away any words from " this scroll of prophecy" . Common misconception by protestants. Why? IDK
Now the Ten Commandments or The Ten Words.
The Catholic Church goes more by the list in the book of Deuteronomy than Exodus.
When God says you should not have any other gods before you. That includes idols. It is redundant. Which is why the church puts them together. If it is as you say, then God would be guilty for telling Moses to make idols of cherubims and put them over the ark.
Now the Catholic Church separates the bottom of the commandments. Why? Because women aren't property. Coveting man's possessions is different than coveting a man's wife.
The Protestants Ten commandments has women as property

In the synod: why is is then that we listen to LGBT, the greens and what not, but not the faithful traditional priests and bishops, and LTM advocates?
