Great video George …looks like this pike on the fly fishing is giving you some exciting sport in the brown trout closed season …love your related tying videos too
Great fishing but can I just advise that dragging the fish over mud or grass however wet removes the antimicrobial slime that the fish uses to protect itself - why are you not using a landing net unhooking mat? Pike are really delicate fish .
@ you are surely not ascribing the fish in water where there is a film of as a mechanical interface between the fish and the mud/grass it is not the same believe me - just being more mindful of the fish helps us anglers (and in my case biologist) answer the objection of those opposed to our sport - you see the fish swim away but you do nor see it over the next days/weeks where it may develop a skin infection - just being kinder costs you nothing but maybe the fish’s life!
Hi goerge.. Any advice for fly fishing for pike on a lake..leader length in particular.. Wud you go 4 5 or 6ft in length.. I've just started it this week & it's completly differnt casting to trout fishing.. Any advice welcome.. & keep the videos coming 👍👍
@@martinkenny3109 Whilst I have little experience fishing pike in lakes, I would venture that 4 or 5 feet of leader is more than adequate, best of luck, tight lines.
You need to slow your retrieve more you are to erratic fish you margins more slowly as you are scaring to main fish remember you are fishing for predators
Class! Lovely meeting you in Enniskillen at the weekend! All the best from Vienna.
Great video George
I’ll try this in France when the waters get in the proper way
Thanks for sharing

I use the net when it suits me, I don't believe wet grass or mud does any harm as they live among grasses and weeds and mud in the river..
