I've only had one arm for the past 30 years. The Old Milwaukee has changed my life. No handsaws, no machetes, no more tired muscles. I've had it for two weeks and use it for everything. I almost cried the first time I used it.👍👍👍👍👍
I have taranzy on 1 acre and it has been great for trimming limbs, small trees, taming back my bamboos even cutting 2x4 for projects. Love this little saw, I don't use the cutters anymore would recommend it. Easy to use if you are a woman or elderly person.
Thank you for this video. For my needs the Taranzy seems to be a great choice. Was looking at other brands, cheaper, some with 4" blades. After seeing this and picturing some young box elder trees in my mind on my back hill needed to be cut down, I realized how much more versatile the 6" blade is going to offer me. Looking forward to make quick work of kindling harvest for the wood stove .
I've another point of view of both terancy is perfect to cut branches and the Milwaukee is perfect to work other things, such as industrial workshop or art.
I think the Taranzy will be perfect for backpacking and trail trimming. Is there a recommendation on how to sheath the blade effectively so i dont slice my rucksack? Will it take other batteries or brand name only?
It would definitely be good for backpacking and trail trimming, it does not come with a sheath however, it does come with a case but I think that would be a bit bulky for backpacking. The Milwaukee hatchet does come with a small sheath to cover the bar and chain, which is nice. I’m not positive on this, but I’m pretty sure the Taranzy would only work with its batteries however, I would imagine you could buy some replacements for much cheaper than any Milwaukee battery.
Is that Taranzy a narrow kerf, 1/4" ? Also, what's the width of bar, including chain tooth? I'm looking to plunge the end for a furniture project. 2 1/2" x 3/16", ideally.
I got a couple of no-name mini chainsaws (chin) I use for low hanging twigs and vines, bushes. You gotta keep the chains lubed every few min or they wear out fast. I also got a Black & Decker gator (two handed) for larger branches. Works ok but pain having to use two hands. Being able to order spare chains and files should be a deciding factor.
Yeah I always seem to forget to lube up the chains since you don’t have to refill with gas! The Milwaukee chains are readily available, not sure about the Taranzy but it is nice it comes with a spare!
@@DudeRanchDIY the booklet for milwaukee says to use a 4.0 battery, refill the oil every battery change. I've found that on my own hatchet. If I use a 6.0, the oil is drained long before the battery is
I like the Milwaukee for bigger branches however the cheap 4” works better for in smaller diameter branches. The Milwaukee is overkill and sometimes bounces on the smaller branches…
Jake: I've not seen the Taranzy Mini Saw before. I do have two of the Milwaukee Hatchet, an keep one in the trunk of my car. I'll keep my eyes & ears open. Being a day later I'll catch you on #193 !!
What’s with the wooden crates full of wood? Let’s see the design of those! Not all of us have 1.2million totes!!!!!! Yes I am jelly of the endless totes you have!!!
Hey Jake, you started by say, "Everyone wants to know how much these 2 saws cost". You said how much the Hatchet cost. You talked about what the Taranzy came with but, you never gave us a price. So, how much is the Taranzy?
I just got the Milwaukee because of my research. I'm going to guess it's better than anything else out there. And it's built like a tank. It'll outlast the rest of them, too. (It was $318. It's also my first Milwaukee power tool - Dewalt guy)
I know you said you wouldn't climb with that smaller one, but honestly, you bring the professional, I'd like to see if used in a professional manner. It does look more like a homeowner, but my hatchet is also a homeowner
I understand your point however being a professional tree climber I would not subject myself to that. There are enough hazards as it is while climbing trees, the threat of a cheap inferior product malfunctioning while making a cut is not safe for me or my ground men. While making this video I could smell the small electric motor on the Taranzy burning up. The Milwaukee might be geared towards smaller diameter cuts from the ground but in my opinion it is by no means a “homeowner” tool and I do not hesitate to climb with it.
I chose not to include that part because I was using it in a manner that it was not intended for, repeatedly cutting larger hardwood limbs. I wasn’t trying to be deceiving at all, I think I clearly showed my opinion on the two. If it had been used for the I think 2-4” size branches periodically it probably would’ve been fine. I made many more cuts with it than what you saw in the video to get the shots!
I wasn’t aware they are coming out with a new one. I wouldn’t buy a new tool just to accept the different batteries. I don’t really use it often enough to justify. However when I do need it I’m glad I have it and it has plenty of power.
@@DudeRanchDIY. The only reason I haven't bought one so far is that in the UK, they were priced at £360!😱 Hopefully I can have a chat with a Milwaukee rep this weekend and haggle! 😂
A huge difference for the newb is the Taranzy chain stops instantly whereas the Milwaukee ran for a second after letting off the trigger . A newbie like myself can do some serious stupid to myself in a second .
First of all, it’s not a fair comparison because the Milwaukee cost three times what the cheap China saw costs. The Milwaukee would cut like mad if your chain were sharp but it’s dull.
I got the Milwaukee primarily for cutting branches that would get hung up in my WoodMaxx PTO chipper, it’s much easier to just press a button rather than have to start up even my smallest top handle saw. It’s also proven to be quite useful when I’m climbing and pruning trees for work as I mentioned due to its small size and weight. Both saws beat using hand pruners or shears in my opinion!
Been climbing trees, trimming, takedowns , for 33 yrs. The mini battery chainsaw is great. If you are not in the business, you probably would not understand.
Amazon sold out of Taranzy. They are the seller of it. Shoots. The milwalkie seems dangerous. Guys do not use two hands on it at all times. They need to redesign for safety sake.
I know there are other versions very similar to the Taranzy. Not sure how you plan to use the tool but the Milwaukee is the better tool here. Much more heavy duty design.
The hatchet is vastly overpriced without the vastly improved performance over the taranzy. The tanzy is lighter, easier to handle and and isn't vastly inferior to the hatchet and much better value it is after all just a pruning saw not a log cutter.

Bar width including chain is 0.1810 from what I could measure
thanks

Yeah the Taranzy worked well for its price! The Milwaukee will be my go to handheld for chipper work and out on the job!
How often to you oil the chain on the Taranzy Mini Saw?
Honestly not enough! It’s hard to remember especially because it doesn’t have its own oil reservoir. That’s one thing that should be added
Nice job!
Thank you!
Ya know, I just might pick up that little Taranzy. It would make cutting up those little sticks a lot less work.
What’s with the wooden crates full of wood? Let’s see the design of those! Not all of us have 1.2million totes!!!!!! Yes I am jelly of the endless totes you have!!!
I found them on the side of the road at a home construction! Apparently we’re used to ship tile 🤷🏼♂️ works really well for firewood!!
Big wood taranzy doesn't have bar oil heats up and can bind.
Yep big downside

Hey Debra you’re right! Whoops! The Taranzy kit came in around $70, however after just checking Amazon they appear to be sold out…
Nice to talk to you…….Hugs to you and Sara……
For everyone who might be left frustrated by the presenter's forgetfulness, like me, the Taranzy kit is currently (as of 8/6/22) $89.90 on Amazon.
18:30 the price is stated.

Welcome to the red side 🙌 but doesn't that thing retail for 199$ or less?...
@@TyrantTiger85 $267 for the kit, which includes the charger and one battery. $199 just for the hatchet.
I like that small Taranzy you used, that would work great on vines I need to cut from a tree, how long does the battery take to charge on it?
From fully dead to full charge takes a few hours

What's your opinion on the makita saw/ pruner?
Thanks I try to keep things real and fair. I can’t comment on that as I’ve never used it. All of my tools/batteries are Milwaukee.
That Milwaukee chain looked a little blunt to me.
It definitely could’ve been sharper 😂
I'm guessing you will be looking forward to the M18 hatchet coming out soon?

I love tmy hatchet and if it dies I will buy another one to replace it.
I love mine as well.
If the Milwaukee chain is sharper than that one, it will go through that size wood, quite a bit faster.
I’ve never sharpened the Milwaukee chain in the two years I’ve had the Hatchet.
@@DudeRanchDIY Yea, it sort of shows.
The Milwaukee is designed for two hands. If you don't have two hands on it, it'll buck like a bull. You get used to it.

This saw was suppose to be made in the USA???
Both owned by China Both suck like China
Ha, you also have my tractor.
Amp-hour battery for battery and volts. if not the same it is a crappy test.
You are right, unfortunately the batteries weren’t the same, I can’t do anything about that!
Really shouldn't bang the chain against the steel plate of the table.
If it was in motion that’s one thing, placing it on a steel table will do nothing to the chain.
The chain on the Milwaukee is Dual u need to sharpen it
I'm not sure why you would own either to be honest
Because my big saw 441 stihl will wear me out before I ever finish the limbing. I can cut alot longer using both. Yes im a old fart.

Depends how you intend on using it. I climb with my hatchet regularly. I would not climb with Taranzy

My hatchet would cut through that much faster than that one
Yeah the chain wasn’t all that sharp in this video

If you already have the batteries it’s not that bad and well worth it in my opinion
