      I, too, used these old two three bottom plows. This was the days before hydraulic pumps and to place the plow into and out of the land, we had a trip rope that engaged a wheel walker that popped it right up as long as the tractor was moving.
      Do you remember the short piece of wire you had to tie on the end of the rope that was a safety device in case the plow detached from the tractor. The wire would break well before the rope and this prevented the rope from pulling the trip device out of the wheel.
      There was nothing like this smell of fresh turned land in the spring using a mold board plow.

    So you found the 3-ringer next to the fence and the asphalt road. Does that road show up as being there in any old civil war Era maps? (Yep! There's Tom Turkey gobbling in the background!,) So maybe they marched on the old road and stopped for a rest near those bullets.

    I can't tell you how much I appreciate you having the can find in your video. I always appreciate when bigger channels do. I've actually had grief from someone for including canslaw in my videos and telling me that it wasn't real Metal Detecting 🤣🤣🤣 My response in general, (not to them because I just didn't respond to them) is that WE ALL FIND CANS/CANSLAW 😆 It's a reality of metal detecting.

    • @AppalachianHistoryDetectives
      @AppalachianHistoryDetectives  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Hot Mess it can be a fine line. The Haters on your channel (and we all have them), will complain about the "boring stuff" but we know the boring stuff is the reality of the hobby. If they are honest, they know it too. I film it all and once included these finds (pull tabs, poptops, and cans) in some part in every video but fall into a trap of not including them to appease to a broader audience to keep retention higher but maybe I should do a bit more like I did in this one. I almost never included this scene but most of the day is digging the trash unless every permission is Gold like some channels portray....which I stopped watching. What is your channels name?

    • @HottMessFishin
      @HottMessFishin ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AppalachianHistoryDetectives I would say the longer I've been on TH-cam the stronger I've had to become and now I try to let those haters just roll right off my back 😆😆. I appreciate the realness in a video and the feedback from the community in seems to agree when I've discussed it with them. If nothing else including it in the wrapup, just showing the trash from the day as well. I truly believe that's what helped me get started and stick with it when I was new. I knew that I wasn't gonna find great treasures in everyhole and sometimes not every hunt. I show some trash still because I want to encourage the new people starting out by letting them know it's not always glamour and gold. 😆 (This) Hott Mess Fishin is my channel, (I injured my leg a month ago so content before that would definitely be more interesting but I'm finally getting the clearance to slowly start getting back out there to hunt again 💥) I started TH-cam as only a 🎣 fishin channel, but then incorporated magnet fishin and dirt fishin. I'd say I'm about 95% Detecting now. I've found my passion for sure. When I'm not injured I do a live hunt and a video once a week.

      Hey thanks and you have my support. Your message just appeared by the way, hence my response now. I watch Twin Diggers Minnesota too. Pam and Pat are very authentic and from what I've seen of your videos, so are yours. In my early videos I used to show everything, but after 3 Go Pros (constant turning on and off wearing them out), I only shoot half, and sometimes only after popping the plug. Keep up the good work and let God bless your efforts....cheers.

    Tod,
    Not bad for a miserable day.
    I don't remember for sure, but I think
    Brad, Green Mountain Metal Detecting,
    decided one time to detect on the iron setting
    and got a lot of junk but
    also some really good things.
    Maybe on a sunny day with an early start and LOTS of patience
    it might pay off, who knows:)
    Cheers,
    Rik Spector,
