I’m not sure that a diopter adjustment that’s hard to turn is a good thing because trying to precisely focus the right eyepiece becomes more difficult - the effort required to turn the stiff diopter adjustment makes the image bounce around and so is hard to focus. A better design, which few brands use, is a diopter adjustment that locks but turns easily when unlocked making it easier to precisely focus. At upper mid range prices, models should be deducted marks for not having a locking diopter.
