Looks like a very nice hotel! Might have to remember this for our next stay in Sydney. Thanks again for sharing your little family getaway, great to see the Seal is still going well for you too.
I had a test drive of the Seal yesterday. It's nice but I do have one concern, I like my seat up high and I noticed I was bumping my head on the front windscreen beam that holds the sun visors. Don't have this issue in the M3.
Hmm interesting observation Have you tried moving the seat back and pulling the steering wheel towards you? But then I guess it depends on how long your legs are …
Hi tom, can u confirm there's no rattling of the sunscreen during your drive? Believe you would have mentioned it if it did but just wanted to confirm. Thanks
If their EV chargers were broken they should’ve at least given you a discount on the valet parking out of goodwill considering you’re paying for valet service + probably separate price for parking? It’s a big hotel chain.
Should've right? Looking at Plugshare it's been broken for a while ... The parking and valet service was included in the $89 - not customary to tip in Australia
i understand BYD is overtaking tesla in sales but what about quality? How do BYD vehicle fair in the long run especially in Aus weather ? I haven't seen many long term user reviews given how new these cars are so am a little nervous to get the Seal Performance.
Nice video. You have a very natural style Tom. Really keen to make the change to EV but almost every review I watch/read seems to have problems with charging anytime you are away from home. (as Tom did here) Why are so many chargers faulty? 2/3 at the shopping centre I drove to yesterday.
Thank you. No doubt that the non-Tesla public DC charging network uptime needs to improve to help alleviate charging anxiety amongst new and potential owners particularly along major arterials in Australia. As for public AC charging, they are often installed in businesses to boost their environmental credentials but sadly maintenance remains an issue in some places
Hi Tom. Interested to hear your thoughts on how much heat comes through the glass roof of the Seal compared to your Tesla's. I test drove a Model Y in 28 degree c and the glass roof of the Tesla was giving off a lot of heat. That put me off the Model Y. Is the Seal's glass roof any better in this regard? Thanks.
I'm interested to see what Tom thinks, but from my own assessment in my hot climate, the Seal roof is better than my Model 3 roof at rejecting heat. You can even see a metallised outer later in the Seal roof, that the Teslas don't seem to have. Other reviewers have commented the Seal roof is good at rejecting heat. FYI, to help with heat rejection in my Model 3, I installed 20% ceramic tint on the back window, including the back half of the roof. That seemed to have helped a lot. For the front half of the roof, the tint installer advised tinting does not make that much difference because it is already heavily treated, so I have to use a sunshade during summer. Using a sunshade totally defeats the whole point of having a glass roof because it's too annoying to remove and install depending on the time of day, like you would open and close a traditional sunroof, but at least the Telsa roof is fine in the cooler seasons of the year. In the Seal, I haven't had to use the sunshades at all so far, but it's still early days in my ownership.
Thanks Tom. I look forward to the test results. The BYD brochure in New Zealand states "Silver plated panoramic glass roof...". Keen to know if the "silver plating" makes a difference.
I just passed a white seal in the lower north shore of Sydney at about 930am. Guessing that might have been you? Either way, fantastic looking car from the outside
@@Sensei_Sifu glad to hear its selling well. The Chinese ev’s are critical for the conversion away from ice. Important now, but critical in 2-3 years time to boost the second hand ev market

BYD have a very interesting parking system that is available overseas. In this system, you just select a parking spot using the 3D camera views and touch screen, and the car figures it all out from there. So we at least know BYD can do it, and it's more advanced than any other system out there that I am aware of.

We had a great time!
unfortunately the chargers have been replaced by Charge Fox and are currently out of order.
That’s unfortunate
You reckon theres chance of fitting 2 large check-in suitcases?
Maybe not if they’re XL
Thanks for sharing Tom. Enjoyed seeing the luxury hotel! Just installed our BYD dash cam today. Easy task; ensure lens protrudes out of the hole!
Nice! Stay tuned, I've got a full installation guide for the dashcam install dropping very soon ...
Can you limit the car's access or features for valet or similar services?
Not that I can see at present

Nice staycation! I hope youll also test your Seal with a Supercharger and see if it works. I hear some Atto3s have had issues
Thanks! Yes I’ll do the supercharger test soon - all in good time 👍
Don't forget you also have the 50L frunk as well although I would use a frunk for charging cables and maybe to keep drinks cold in winter.
Yes that’s right! I’ll go through a proper run down in my upcoming 1 week review
nice hotel, would have chosen the Harbour Bridge or Opera House view room, thanks for the feedback on ground clearance of the BYD Seal
That’s why we went to the Aster bar to check out the view 😁

Screw tipping, contributes to inflation

They’re still relatively new to the market - I’m hoping to keep the Seal long term to provide content and updates over time
@@LudicrousFeed great I'll keep an eye out for it!
Cant wait these to arrive here in Finland to testdrive before ordering..
