I just uploaded an old sunfire cracking tutorial (3 parts) you might find some useful tips for cracking retro spider-man. I have not yet had the pleasure of doing one myself. It's basically sunfire with an inverted abdomen. Cheers!

Ok, trying this out I keep running into a problem. The torso doesn't crack but I can separate the abdomen and the upper torso. I broke an upper torso trying to open it lol.
