I have to admit these first books look more stress-free to assemble as plain paper then the sticker one's in those other kit. At the first glance - I like this kit and it's darker colour-scheme for the wooden pieces. This weekend I'll visit an exhibition for model building, games, toys, technical kits and creative arts - I know Rolife will be there too. I hope I see some nice booknock kits maybe christmas themed... wish me luck.
The actual assembly is probably a toss up, but the real advantage with the stickers is that you don't have to take the time to cut each one out individually, that saves so much time. Sounds like a fun event, hope you have fun!
I’ve just started this one, it’s my second one and I’m so glad you’re filming the step by step. My first was the rolife sunshine town and I got hooked and ordered this one… however. It’s day 2 and while I’m pacing myself the most annoying part is that I’ve yet to start the actual build 😂 I’m still cutting out books !!
Thank you so much Daniel for these videos 🙏. I got the kit delivered and have to admit I was overwhelmed when I opened the box (my 1st ever kit). But now after watching your videos I can’t wait to get started. ( I’m up to video 6) All your little tips, folding the edges with the ruler….genius 💡 I see you have done the Magic Wand Shop also which is on my want list…. Any thoughts on doing the Owl Book Store? ? ? Happy New Year 🎉
I’m so glad I found this video as I was given this as a Xmas gift. I was stunned at the number of parts and pieces when I opened the box and the cryptic instructions but as I study it, I grow less intimidated. Question: what is the best glue for these little parts and applicator to use?
My personal favorite (right now) is called B-7000, it's like a rubber cement but it has a very fine nozzle on the tube, but honestly I think just about any glue will work as long as you're comfortable with it.
In the folding of book pages, if you score the bending lines with a dull knife or the back of a dinner knife, being careful to keep them straight, it makes folding a lot easier and a lot better looking. The goal is to create a crease, not a cut.
I’ve just accumulated my tools over my life, probably the most useful tool I have is the 45 degree tweezers that I got out of a cheap first aid kit, the picks, and a set of tiny needle nose pliers (mine was a set of three), and a couple of smaller screwdrivers can be handy as well. If you’re in the States you should be able to pick it all up for about $20 total at harbor freight. Those are the main ones I reach for most regularly. Then it’s just a matter of trial and error to find the glue you like best.
Found a hobby toolkit on Temu. It has a lot of different tools. It has a yellow scraping tool, four different tweezers, about five different rasps, an X-acto knife, a pair of small, sharp wire cutters, and more and was under $20. Found a set of crafting tools at Hobby Lobby in the scrapbooking section. Although they're pink (not a favorite), it has the angled spike, the angled tweezers, a pair of very sharp small-blade scissors, a spreader, and the smoother. It was under $10. Already had a small self-sealing mat for cutting and use just a piece of cardboard for gluing and painting. Also have a number of tools, mostly associated with sewing, collected over the years.
There apparently have been changes made. Watching a different tutorial (45 mins, not in real time), the outside back and sides already were glued on and the wiring was fully attached to the battery box, so no twisting. No stickers at all. And while stickers make it easier, glue makes it less likely to peel.
@@aleksandraw.983 As Daniel said, it can be a process of trial and error to find the ones you like. He prefers B-7000 and Gorilla Glue brush. Another builder uses a glue stick. One's favorite is Aleen's Crystal Tacky Glue. Did not like the results with Elmer's white on paper. You will get bumps. Hope this helps!
I just got this kit and never done anything like it before.
Thank you for this video because I was feeling so lost with it all until I saw this.
I'm glad it helped, thanks for watching!
I like the fast forwarding. It emphasizes the assembly line aspect of crafting.
Thanks, good thing you like it...I think I'm about halfway done with the books...😂
Books, books, and more books ,this looks like a nice build ,should be fun
I guess it shouldn't be a surprise considering I'm building a library, but it still seemed like a lot of them! 😂

@@Dbuilderguy Okay the time saving with the stickers is a good argument 😄

The cutting out is the worst part, I finally bought a self healing cutting mat and an x-acto knife, it's much easier than using scissors. 😂

Someone gave me that tip on the following book nook I think and it's a great tip...it was a total game changer! Thanks for watching!
Would be nice to know what products and tools you need to build this
Edit:spelling mistake

The book covers are stickers why are you glueing them on the wooden book
I wish they were stickers, just plain paper in this one. 😕

What kind of glue is necessary?@@queenswillrule
