We own the Deschutes 110 and Chelan 120 and both are user friendly. Moving from the Deschutes to the Chelan you do notice a difference in performance and initial stability as well as the muscles used while paddling. We paddled against 15 mph winds in both last weekend and had no trouble with swamping on the Deschutes, i.e. it handled rough water very well. I'm disabled and the Chelan is at my weight limit to load and unload but is easily inflated by hand from a chair and is the most comfortable kayak I've paddled yet.
I just got a deschutes 130 this year. (I had been using a chinook 90, that's a lower priced very lightweight boat, but kind of a squish to get in.) I have only been able to take it out once, but on my local lake that I know well. It was very stable. And for my first paddle of the year after a very wet and snowy winter, it did well. The stability is great, even putting in from a broken dock so I didn't have the best angle or height to get in. I plan to use it a lot more this summer once school is out. For it's size the weight (22.2 lbs) is great too. I still will use my chinook for places that it's harder to get to the kayak to the water since it's so easy to carry between it's length and weight, or takes up less space in the car for an after work paddle, but I probably will use the Deschutes more otherwise.
I have the 145, i way 250, bring my 12 yr old daughter with a small cooler and gear, a multiday trip is very doable with dry bags or garbage bags to protect backpacks, 14 ft long, plenty of cargo room, surprised me how quick it was, ive rubbed plenty of rocks but in relatively calm waters with speedboat wakes being the roughest times, ultra stable and fun in these "waves", no scratches of any depth, just "rubs" Inflates fast, its my first kayak and i made the choice based on durability and portability, knowing what I know I want a dropstitch with drain plugs for the rivers but this deschutes 145 is amazing, cant wait to take it on an multiday with full camp set up. That cargo/weight capacity, I believe, is the true beauty of this kayak, portage would be a breeze. I ramble
Thanks for this. I've got the the Cirrus and I've extensively tested/reviewed it and had a lot of fun with it. I'm currently consideing a Chelan for a more extensive trip, so it was good to see this comparison 👍😁

The biggest issue people should recognize is that there is a LOT of overhead, some in setting it up, but much more so in dealing with it after paddling, because you need to dry it off to avoid growing 'stuff' if you were to leave it damp. Still it's light enough for me (not my wife, who is slight) to carry easily to the water, and to carry the kayak, paddle, life jacket, water bottle, etc in the provided backpack. The seat is good and provides good lower back support of adjusted properly. Ken mentioned that sitting lower in the boat can increase stability. The seat bottom is inflatable, and one can lower the seating position simply by letting some air out. the valve is design and placed such that you can do that even while sitting in the kayak out on the water. I usually soften it a little bit, not for stability - the boat is very stable even sitting high - but to achieve a paddling position I find more suitable Question for Ken / Aquaglide: can the seat for the Chelan fit in the Cirrus?
I have about a dozen inflatables which I pack away wet yet never have any problem. The bag drips water for 12 hours or so, so I leave it outside for that time. Maybe our salt water prevents growth. Nice to hear about back support; many of us acquire back problems.

I have a deschutes 145 I paddle on the non tidal Thames with my partner this kayak is perfect for us the cirrus looks amazing considering the weight aquaglide are worth the money in my opinion
That's unfortunate to hear. Did you attempt to patch it with the repair kit it comes with? The joy of the floor not being inflatable is that it should be easy to patch.
As meh as an inflatable kayak seems at first, I read a comment the other day that made it all make sense. A fella commented that his (maybe it was a folding one, but same point about size when stored) kayak fit nicely in the back of his Mustang. That's a pretty good point of consideration. For many people, inflatable is the only way it would be possible to enjoy the sport due to space constraints.
I just bought the Navarro 145 for camping with the family. I was $186 and couldn’t not get it. I’m also going to outfit it to fish out of it. Any recommendations for adding accessory attachment points? I have seen the glue on ones. Any thoughts?
@@PaddleTV , I'm looking around some review but not easy to find for Navarro. I see , looking the construction, that it is large and with flat bottom. The fin is very short for a so long boat. In my opinion, theoretically , should be difficult maintain the right direction with it. AE have a better bottom and siluette other that the Alu-frame.

Although the water on a nice day can be still, boats and jet skis flying by can cause some decent/aggressive waves. Do you think the DESCHUTES 110 (being flatter), will be able to handle aggressive boat and jet ski waves? Thank you!
Ken, what level of white water do you think the Chelan 120 can legitimately handle? I fish streams that occasionlly have a brief Class II encounter. Anything bigger and i'd be portaging anyway. Thanks.
I would be very comfortable in class 2 whitewater with the Chelan, as long as it wasn't the type of stream that involves banging into a lot of sharp rocks.
You will pay about £1400 for a light weight kayak. My mega mighty kahuna was about that price. Do love the inflatables kayak's but they never seem to last that long. Modular kayaks like Point 65 N seem better value in the long term.
Critique from the cheap seats... Instead of repeatedly stating that products "can handle a wide variety of conditions," please list the specific conditions you think are suitable for each product. Or regurgitate the appropriate conditions for each product as stated by the manufacturer. Blessings.

Dan from Headwaters Kayak said in his review of the Cirrus that the Chelan seat does fit in the Cirrus.
I love my Chelan 150 - great for 2 people or I can paddle it on my own quite comfortably.
Can you move one seat to the middle for solo mode?

Those look like good options for inflatables. It looks to have solid construction and should deliver reasonable performance.

I bought a Deschutes and was very dissatisfied. Got a hole in the first outing after a very small bump on the riverbed. Expensive lesson learned.

I got it straight from the source... but I didn't get a timeline. I would expect it will be in the fall or next spring.

I waited without a kayak for years before I found a good quality inflatable. There is no way I could have had a hard body one.

I haven't tried the Navarro yet. Hope to soon! I think they're both comparable to the AE Expedition, although they have real differences too.
