    So where was your 140 chilan view?

    Perfect timing. I’ve been looking for pictures to see how they set up the 140 for a solo paddler but couldn’t find any. Could you do a review of how the 140 handles solo? Is it faster than the 120 because of the longer hull at the waterline?

    • @paddleboy84
      @paddleboy84  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes it’s faster and it tracks better. It’s not as quick and nimble as the 120 though. For my size I feel a lot more comfortable in the 140.

      @@paddleboy84 have you ever measured how fast it can go, can it reach 4mph?

      @@paddleboy84 sorry old comment, but I have to get something clear; when you say the 140 is faster but not as quick and nimble, do you just mean that the 120 is more maneuverable and has a faster acceleration while the 140 can uphold a faster pace due to its waterline and tracking?

    How does the 140 compare to the tandem Sea Eagle FT OR RT? I was leaning towards the FT. Thanks!

    I am 6 foot and will be going with a 4 year old... I should do the 140, right, as opposed to 155?

    Thank you for your video review, does the chelan models have a deck cover/spray deck, can't seem to find any information on this, id be happy purchase if this is this available as an option ?

    What pump would you recommend for a craft like this?

    Great review! Really wish you'd gotten some footage on the 140 solo as well though.. (I know I'm a year too late)
    are there any other benefits to the 140 except for more room?
    Seems like all the molle and acotty mounts become obsolete in it when solo.
    As an avid kayaker, do you think the 140 would handle well if one would take the front seat (positioned like in the 120) and have all the gear tied to the floor behind the seat?
    (I have the option of buying a new Chelan 140 for $500 though I'd probably fit better in the 120 being 5,11, 166lbs and not owning a car.. but it's $1000+)

      I’m thinking of getting a 140. I haven’t kayaked in a while though, and never in an inflatable. I’m an inch taller and 10 pounds more than you. Did you go with the 140 or wait for the 120?

      @@Yowzoe I imagine you've seen the sale on Aquaglide's site? I just ordered a 140. I'm 6'0 and about 240 lbs.. I've been using a Deschutes 110 and am always getting left behind by my friends in their Sea Eagles -though mine is more fun in the nooks and cranny areas due to it's maneuverability. Still, I have to paddle about twice as fast as them to keep up on open water, so I'm hoping the extra length and rigidity of the floor on this one helps. I also like this one because I have a 4 year old daughter and now our whole family can go out. The sale they have going on right now was too hard to pass up.

      @@rickscott8756 yes, after I wrote that, I went deep down the rabbit hole and learned a lot. I got the 140 as well, and it may well be the best mid-size inflatable ever, so I’m pretty happy. Now researching paddles, pumps, etc. - a good problem to solve :-)

      @@rickscott8756 apparently Aquaglide has sold their boat section to *Bote* , which explains the deep cuts in prices. Don’t forget to get extra little replacement parts.

      @@Yowzoe I have an Aqua Bound Sting Ray Carbon 2 piece paddle. At least 4 years ago it was about as light as I found I could get for the money. I also really like the locking mechanism for connecting the two pieces. Being 6 foot tall and long bodied (I probably sit as tall as someone at least 6'4) -I went with a 250cm length -also considering the width of the kayak.
      As far as the pump is concerned, I had a 2 stage pump with auto shutoff that used a car cigarette lighter adaptor -I plugged it into something I shouldn't have and roasted it. This time I'm looking at getting something battery powered. There's this one by dwndpump that looks like it will do and has high ratings. It's going for $100 on Amazon.

    Appreciate the review, looking for a tandem for wife and I but also something I could go solo in, some fishing...the 140 may be the one, would you think the 155 is too big as a solo?

    • @paddleboy84
      @paddleboy84  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      How tall are you? If over 6’ I’d go 155. That’s what my folks use and it’s manageable as a solo. 140 is better as a solo and works ok with me and a small paddler up front

      I like a 240cm in this kayak. Aquabound Mantaray or Stingray are really good paddles for the $$. Also available in 4 piece for packing down in you want that.
