I did this and won back in 2005. That gave me the “fear factor champion t-shirt” and 4 dual-park comp tickets with no expiration date. Fun fact, I used the tickets over 15 years later and they still honored them!
Great video! It's interesting the comparison you drew between Fear Factor Live and the American Idol Experience and how they struggled to recreate reality TV. I never saw either but did see the Who Wants to Be a Millionaire show which I remember liking. One thing I think worked vs these is that the top prize was a Disney Cruise which felt like a decent enough prize to make the stakes feel a bit more legit.
I remember back when i went to universal for the first time (2018-19ish), me and my older sis walked down past the fear factor arena. It felt like I had stepped into a whole other area, as that and the kidzone area were eerily quiet and empty, with quite literally nobody around. Felt like a twilight zone episode imo.
I feel like if they just stuck to a scary obstacle course and didn't feel the need to involve flinging around animal corpses the show probably would have been 10x more popular.
I won this show 7 times at Universal Studios Florida. It was ridiculously fun and they usually needed contestants for the show. It quickly became a very frequent hobby lol. I was in the last show ever but lost in the finals
Also a fellow Fear Factor Live Champion here but only a 2 timer lol! Participated 3 times but my random partner one of the times had incredibly bad aim with throwing the squid so we were out in round 2. I only have 1 of my shirts unfortunately though and its in rough shape, the other got lost at some point.
I did 2 challenges in 1 show when I went with my niece and nephew. First was the spin a wheel and have that animal crawl on your face while in a glass container. My niece spun the wheel and it landed on scorpions (which was my most feared on the list). Second was to drink the mealworm and cricket smoothie which actually didn't taste bad, but I was spitting out cricket legs for a while after. There's a video and photo of both parts on my parent's Facebook accounts somewhere. I was going through some serious depression at the time and wanted to give them a story they could tell about me if I were to off myself.
I will say that it’s interesting that despite the merger of NBC and Universal, we haven’t really seen a lot of NBC properties in the Universal parks. You have this, the Jimmy Fallon ride in Orlando, and tapings of some NBC shows in Hollywood because of the backlot, but that’s about it.
Fantastic video. I love your calm, soothing tone. You did your research. In facts its inspired me to do my own Theme Park trivia/history trivia. Excellent video once again 👏👌💓😊
I competed and won this during the summer of 2017. I was at universal with my family as a high school graduation trip and signed up as a joke. It was me and this guy doing it. All I got was a Tshirt that I still have as a weird trophy
I love the subtle humor here, it doesn't get in the way of the informative stuff and the fact that everything else is so straightforward makes it so much funnier to me, lol!
YOOO I did this in person! I wasn't one of the main contestants for the show; but was picked for the team bug eating during one of the breaks. For my show we did win the bug eating and won a fear factor live cup. 😂😅 (Super fun when you have hay fever and just can't taste anything lol)
George I love your videos so much, the explanations you give and the detail and hard work that goes into every video does not go un noticed. I have watched every video, never stop you’re amazing
I had a coworker with that shirt before, I asked him if he was on Fear Factor, he said yes but no, he was at the Universal Show in Orlando 😂 so I already knew what that prize would be. I mean he had a cool story to tell
I never saw the show myself, but my dad and brother did when we visited for the first time in 2014. We didn’t go back to Universal again until this year, and I was surprised to see that the theater was completely abandoned.
My only hope is that they don't take out MIB. It's been a favorite since they took out most of the originals. The only rides that can compete are Mummy and ET.
I was in the small minority of people who absolutely loved this show. I grew up watching fear factor and loving the wild and insane nature of the show. Whenever I went to the Universal, I'd make it a necessity to attend this show. Hell, I wanted to be a part of it, but couldn't because I was too young, and by the time I turned 18, the show was closed down and removed. Yes, this show was not meant for everyone, but for me, it was like actually stepping back into my childhood and experiencing Fear Factor the way it was intended.
I was lucky enough to get to do this in Florida while the show was still on NBC One thing you left out of the video they made us wear disposable underwear. I also remember the octopuses were very disgusting and look like they were starting to decay
The TV show might get brought back again!!! Thanks to the success of Deal or No Deal Island which is from Endemol which owns Fear Factor. Good video btw.
Yes, the main backdrop and some props are still there. But a few were removed and or covered for the stage, pyro effects, and performer safety. The Bill and Ted Show during HHN even made a joke about winners receiving a t-shirt for doing crazy stunts.
I won the show in 2005. Got 4 free tickets back to Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure! I had no idea they stopped giving away free tickets so shortly afterward!
I member going to UO as a kid one year with my sister and dad. He entered into this show as a contestant and won the whole thing!! You’d think they would’ve given him a free meal or something but nope they don’t give any prizes for winning it lol.
I was 13 when we saw this and we all loved it. Also was the first time i saw those edible baked crickets to buy outside of the attractions, i got some that were cheddar cheese flavored and honestly just tasted like burnt popcorn.
My brother and I did this! We beat the other guy in the first comp, then were competing against each other for the other challenges. I beat him in the hanging, we tied the second challenge, and then he beat me with the octopi challenge. I was SO COLD going up the ladder to get to the car, I felt like I was going in slow mo
Everybody who won the show in the Orlando version were all supposed to get 4 comp tickets to the park and the T-shirt. I only know this because my sister worked at the show in 2007-2009.
My class went to Universal Orlando for our senior class trip and a friend of mine participated in this and actually won it. I did that eating challenge with the blended stuff and fun fact we werent actually eating what was grinded up in the blender. They swapped out whatever it was under the table with something else. It was gross but wasnt you take a single sip and have to start barfing gross.
I tried explaining to my gf that I went and saw fear factor live, she didn’t believe me, whole rabbit hole later she is now jealous I went to universal as a kid
I'm an Orlando local and won this back around 2017, i still have my tshirt and complimentary framed picture in the gear. I will always be nostalgic about this attraction
I was there in 2016 when it was still open, but didn’t watch it. I wish I would have because the next time I was there was 2022 and I had long been closed by then.
Oh considering the so called "rapid fire fans" just ended up acting as air conditioning, considering my reception to hot weather I would be going circuits on this ride 😅😂
It's nice to know that through all the devastation that Covid caused throughout the world, there is this one tiny microscopic piece of silver lining. Let's hope they put something better in its place!
Brother if you only spoke spanish there was a latin version airing in LA called win the green were if you won you got a green card to stay in the states, well it was actually an immigration lawyer many considered it a humiliation ritual for the possibility of becoming a permanent resident wild times the early 00s
What some people is ready to do for the attention...or a t-shirt, if the world were a more mentally healthy place that attraction would never have had a single volunteer.
Funny story, I was actually a huge fan of the tv show as an elementary school kid (then again, I was weird, I was never raised to hate bugs or snakes, and I started raising tarantulas not to eat, but as pets as an 8 year old thanks to the show 🕷️) but when I saw the depths to which Joe Rogan had sunk to as an adult, I couldn't help but feel that a part of elementary school me had died that day. 🤦🏼♀️ that wasn't fun!
I have seen your doctor line Orlando probably 8 to 10 times. I’ve completed five×1. Was on the watch, exciting despite narrator. Although he is correct about losing it as the show had gone out of several years earlier. They should look into re-creating any other popularshow in that space. I think they could pull it off with a scale down version of the amazing race.
I participated back in 2017, and I have to say it was incredible! 1) yes it did take quite some time out of my day. But having gone to universal as a kid, and not being allowed to participate until I turned 18. I went as an adult knowing that I wanted to participate. So I went in with the expectation that I would spend some time at this show. 2) by 2017, they had it down to a science, everything was laid out before the show even started. They did make some references that were a bit dated. For example, we couldn’t say as a contestant “I’m going to b**t (contestant)” because we weren’t Chris brown. But other than that, it was pretty easy to understand. 3) the show is heavily controlled, at the time they said “just toss the octopus, you’ll be disqualified if you launch it into the audience” “you’ll be disqualified if you grab an eel” and “you can’t slip off the car in the final challenge.” So we unless you were terrified of heights, you really didn’t have much to worry about. They did make us shower afterwards, which was kinda weird but apparently Florida law has a thing about handling animals namely squids. 4) the age was definitely showing, the building didn’t fall down at the end, a lot of the signage had shown its age from being in the sun. So a refresh was needed, but unfortunately due to Covid, it was made apparent that this show was doomed. As a fan, I would have loved to participate in it again, I still have the shirt I won. But ultimately it was time for it to go, and I still miss it every time I walk by the stage it’s on.
I did this and won back in 2005. That gave me the “fear factor champion t-shirt” and 4 dual-park comp tickets with no expiration date. Fun fact, I used the tickets over 15 years later and they still honored them!
Damn all I got was a T-shirt lol
I use to work this show years ago as a ride and show attendant. Octopi ended up in the audience at least twice a week
i truly think the "theres one more thing" line is actually funny and i had to smile every time.
Saw that too as a kid and it was actually pretty fun.
Woah… a free Disney cruise is insane. Modern Disney would never even with how hard WWTBAM is
I remember back when i went to universal for the first time (2018-19ish), me and my older sis walked down past the fear factor arena. you have SEVEN black fear factor champion shirts?? God among men.
Did you get the I ate a bug mug?
@@bambikiller338 yes I did! I did the food challenge once just to get the mug! It sucked

There is the Today Cafe in Orlando
Fantastic video. I love your calm, soothing tone. You did your research.
In facts its inspired me to do my own Theme Park trivia/history trivia.
Excellent video once again 👏👌💓😊
Dude you don’t even get an eighth of what your channel deserves. Amazing stuff dude. Keep it up.
I competed and won this during the summer of 2017. I was at universal with my family as a high school graduation trip and signed up as a joke. It was me and this guy doing it. All I got was a Tshirt that I still have as a weird trophy
5:46, My dad actually got to be up as one of the extras for the Indiana Jones Live show. It's been at least a decade though.
Holy shit I remember seeing this in person years ago. It was by far the craziest and most out of place attraction at Universal
😂😅 (Super fun when you have hay fever and just can't taste anything lol)
my dad did the main contestant part as he was the only brit it was hilarious
George I love your videos so much, the explanations you give and the detail and hard work that goes into every video does not go un noticed. I have watched every video, never stop you’re amazing
That's very kind of you. Thank you!
Your channel is unreal, loving every upload
I had a coworker with that shirt before, I asked him if he was on Fear Factor, he said yes but no, he was at the Universal Show in Orlando 😂 so I already knew what that prize would be. I mean he had a cool story to tell
I never saw the show myself, but my dad and brother did when we visited for the first time in 2014. We didn’t go back to Universal again until this year, and I was surprised to see that the theater was completely abandoned.
I think Joe Rogan's brain was all in his hair
My only hope is that they don't take out MIB. It's been a favorite since they took out most of the originals. The only rides that can compete are Mummy and ET.
I think these two this were better off being just a TV show and not an interactive event at a theme park
I still have the map with the fear factor ad on it with the show times and what not from 2006
I was lucky enough to get to do this in Florida while the show was still on NBC One thing you left out of the video they made us wear disposable underwear.
I also remember the octopuses were very disgusting and look like they were starting to decay
The TV show might get brought back again!!! Thanks to the success of Deal or No Deal Island which is from Endemol which owns Fear Factor. Good video btw.
I remember always seeing the show stage but i never went to one, cant wait to learn how they did it all
I have a soft spot for closed cheesy theme park live/stunt shows like this. Lights, Motors, Action! was the one I saw when i was a little kid lol.
Nice recsp; thank you for the video credit!
Thanks! Your channel is a great resource!
It is used for the Halloween horror nightmare show every HHN season.
Yes, the main backdrop and some props are still there. But a few were removed and or covered for the stage, pyro effects, and performer safety. The Bill and Ted Show during HHN even made a joke about winners receiving a t-shirt for doing crazy stunts.
Joe Rogan with hair. What a time.
Fear Factor is comin back soon.
You forgot to mention that the theater does get used for shows during HHN. But apart from that, that's pretty much it.
wait did they get paid for the bug shit
edit- a mug lmao and a shirt wow
I won the show in 2005. Got 4 free tickets back to Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure! I had no idea they stopped giving away free tickets so shortly afterward!
I AM GEORGE BROWNINGS STRONGEST SOLDIER
GODSPEED SOLDIER
I member going to UO as a kid one year with my sister and dad. He entered into this show as a contestant and won the whole thing!! You’d think they would’ve given him a free meal or something but nope they don’t give any prizes for winning it lol.

me and my husband have done this! they put my head in a box and put scorpions on my face and he had to do the car obstacle!
My brother was chosen to be part of the show at universal. He didn’t win but it was pretty interesting
Another great video!
Most recently the theatre has been used for Horror Nights for a stage performance
I did this in 2005 on my 21st birthday. I was one of the first 2 eliminated 😂. Was hoping to make it to the end so I could do the obstacle course.
This is like memory lane! My dad participated in this when I was a kid 😂
My class went to Universal Orlando for our senior class trip and a friend of mine participated in this and actually won it. I will never forget when I got called up to the stage for this
I tried explaining to my gf that I went and saw fear factor live, she didn’t believe me, whole rabbit hole later she is now jealous I went to universal as a kid
I'm an Orlando local and won this back around 2017, i still have my tshirt and complimentary framed picture in the gear. I will always be nostalgic about this attraction

I had a chance to watch Fear Factor Live, but my family opted for Waterworld instead
Fear Factor seems an awful lot like I'm A Celebrity: Get Me Out Of Here!
Get up, it's time for a George Browning deep dive!
I swear this guys video quality is better ever video quality
If you participated in the show it was amazingly fun
If you sat and watched it, it was fine lol
I thought my entire life that the bug shake had to be fake
Saw this in person back when I was in high school. By brother even participated in the show which was wild. He didn't win though lol
My dad went 2 for 2 winning both and only lost the 3rd time he entered because he tore his acl during the eel tank bean bag toss
I’m Mr. Frog. I ate the bug.
My stepdad was on this in the late 2000's and won. He got a free t shirt.
i wanted to do fear factor so bad, i vowed that the day i turned 18 i would go and participate. i turned 18 in summer of 2020 :(
Knight Bus ride!
seeing joe rogan with hair is INSANE
"we used to be a country..."
Brother if you only spoke spanish there was a latin version airing in LA called win the green were if you won you got a green card to stay in the states, well it was actually an immigration lawyer many considered it a humiliation ritual for the possibility of becoming a permanent resident wild times the early 00s
my dad went on the show he was the only brit it was so funny he did quite well ahaha
It a old show. Scary
Not sure what Rogan is up to these days. I think he does a little podcast or something.
What some people is ready to do for the attention...or a t-shirt, if the world were a more mentally healthy place that attraction would never have had a single volunteer.
gosh okay debbie downer go touch grass why are you so pressed🤣
I'll always remember these as the "Bill & Ted" stages
whoa, that host looks like if Joe Rogan stopped taking testosterone and it caused all his hair to grow back 🏋🏽♀
Idk what to comment . Its my birthday as of typing this 🎉
