Just ran a new (from the past 10 years) 5K PR in these in 20:31. I just got back into running the past 5 months. These are awesome and I grabbed them thanks to your reviews. Much appreciated!
By the way, Doc - I want to thank you for turning me on to this brand and model (initially with your 1.0 video, but I went straight for the 1.5 as it was already available for the same price). You are providing an awesome service to runners who do not usually have access to reviews of these often remarkable Chinese brands. Great stuff.
@@drcyume Trialed them over 10K yesterday, and now I am not sure. They are undoubtedly FAST and I think I can hug 21 mins in a 5K in them, but there seemed to be a couple of slight pressure points that make me wonder if it wouldn't be smarter to go with a "safer" model I am most familiar with instead over the 42.2km
Hi Doc thanks for your review I'm also enjoying this shoe. Your review is spot on. Though something felt weird about the drop after a few runs it was feeling flatter like a low drop shoe. So I measured it myself with a caliper and it was 40mm in the heel and 35 in the forefoot. Maybe this is because of the insole since I couldn't remove it and was glued to the midsole.
Nice review. I have both the original and the 1.5. I would be hard pressed to tell the difference if I had to do a blind test on feel. Both are excellent and similarly priced. I'm looking forward to the Plaid 2 when it launches. I am curious if the new Saucony Endorphin Elite 2 with its squishy IncrediRUN foam is going to have a similar feel as the Plaid 1.5. Did you order the new Qiaodan Feiying PB 5.0 that released the other week?
Thank you for your reviews. I have just ordered my first chinese running shoes! By the way I live in Dammam and would love to run with you one day or meet you for coffee. I beleive you life in Quranta Area
i've the 1.0, approx 150usd delivered in singapore. i think it is absolutely as good as the AF3. a fan now. not sure if i'll spring for the 1.5 though.
In racing line I have the zoomfly 5 and 6, vaporfly 3, Adios pro 3 from Adidas, Deviate nitro elite from puma. Vaporfly 3 is closest to this in softness but these are more energetic. Adios pro 3 is firmer. I have not tried the 4 yet, heard that is softer.
@@drcyumethanks doc for the reply. Unlike the elites of the elites, I personally think that 99% of casual runners dont really get the most out of these super shoes anyway, so paying extra premiums for the top racing shoes from big brands are not worth it imo as a casual runner myself. Glad that these chinese brands are able to provide good performance at such a nice price point. I personally use 361 flame et 2.5 as a daily trainer and they are versatile enough for me. And i only got them for about 50 usd.

That was a blistering pace! Congratulations.

I love the 1.5 - it is FAST and feels fantastic, and I am considering wearing it for a marathon next week.
Me too. I'm lining it up for my next marathon in February.

Not yet. Probably this month end.
U have any idea when is plaid 2.0 is launching?
@@muhammadirfanbinelmi8947 No brother. We just keep checking. But I keep wondering what can be better than the 1.5. But we'll see.

Awesome. Will love that.
@@drcyume Are you running the Khobar Half Marathon this weekend?
Will try this out
I bet you'll like it. Let us know how you feel about it if you do.
@ doc will you make a video of all the shoes you’ve reviewed this year which ones you like
@@alvinbgyt5143 Sounds great. Will do that.

Almost the same. Just a bit more comfy and stable.
Doc can you recommend it for heavier runner?
For racing or race training yes. It has enough cushion.
Which do you prefer the plaid 1.5 or the 361 furious future 2.0?
Plaid 1.5
Just purchased these , do u think they are better then the flame 3 from 361 ?
Much better
@@drcyume erke zhijing u should try this brand ! & will u put together a video stating the best shoes of the year and why ?

Hello doc, what shoes from other big brands (nike, asics, adidas etc) youve tried so far you would say feel the most similar to plaid 1.5? thank you.

@@cataldoareno909 That's awesome price. And I agree with you on the elite vs casual runner shoe experience.
Is it okay for slower paces also?
Yeah.
if you gonna pick a 1 shoes for race day?
361 defrees flma 3.0 /3.5? or qiaodan 1.5?
Qiaodan plaid for sure.
