Can anyone please explain the statement at 2:56 - "there is only two places a 1 can go in block 8" (cells 9,4 and 9,6)? Surely a 1 can go in the two cells above those as well? Since the locations of 1s in block 7 has not been finalized yet. Thanks for any clarification - this has me puzzled ! Edit: Never mind, the next statement about row 9 clarified it
8:28. I did solve this one with pencilmarks and normal sudoku. But watching your solve I see that I could've a more smooth solve if I had found the pairs in the "correct" order. Altough I still found them. Thank you! 🤗
9:24 Naked pair 29 in column 1; restricts 9 in block 1 to row 3 columns 1,2; forces a 9 in R1C9, leaving naked single 8 in R4C9. Spotted that before your 89 naked pair. Then 15 naked pair in column 8 solves 2 and 6 in block 3. and places 678 in block 9. 11:58 you had left a ruled-out 7 in R8C8. Then I finally got around to the 25 and 34 pairs in row 1. You're right that's the key to the whole thing. It's all routine after that. I had an embarrassing time because I fat-fingered one solved digit and didn't notice until it caused a conflict late in the game. Couldn't find the mistake and had to back up a LONG way.
This one was tricky. I understand about one digit being out of place and then having a hard time figuring out where to go back to fix it. Thank you for sharing.
I began trying the puzzle notation-free, and I got the bottom band either placed or with mental pairs and triples. But eventually I gave up. I found a lot more pairs, and even a quad in block 6 after starting notation. There's no place where the puzzle gave up; it just gradually weakened. 8:10 I found that 89 pair only after cornermarking a quad in that block. 12:30 It's interesting to see the lower band all centermarked, while the markings in the other blocks are still sparse. I had that band all mentally centermarked, with the same digits placed, before I gave up NF.
@@SmartHobbies Block 8 had 35 pair and 149 triple, 78 pair in row9 and also in col 1. 29 pair in row7 box 7 and in col 1 at R4 & R7 URs 78, 678 in box 7 and 9 which helped to place 8 in box 9 and thus the 78 pair got resolved. Lot of 29 pairs in row , col and block, I guess it was 29 pair in col 1 which assisted in placing 9 in row 1 at R1C9( as then R1C1 was 456 and only place for 9 in row 1 was R1C9) followed by 6 at R1C1.and digits 4 and 5 in col 1 25 pair at R1( C4+C6)& rem 34 pair in row 1 at C5& C7 and also in box 2 At some point col8 needed159 , #9 at R5C8 67 pair in midd col of box 4, rem 298 triple in box 4 where the 8 of 298 triple got easily placed leaving 29pair in box 4 . Yeah, this was all , I dont remember the exact sequence of my solve path .( I didn't find 89 pair in box 6) Anyway , an interesting puzzle by Julian.

PPP solve 9 min. Made it tricky, find URs in r 8,9/ c 1,9.78, 786. Unexpected puzzle from Mr.JULIAN, Thanks for the puzzle.
Nice job URs. Those are one of Julian’s favorite strategies.

Great job Ana. 8:28 is a great time for this puzzle and I am happy to hear you did find those pairs. Way to go! 😎
Claiming pair of 5s (4:25) blocks 1-3
Nice, Roger. Thanks for pointing that out

I admire that you tried this notation free, John. Lots of tricky strategies needed to get through it. Glad you got through it.
I used a NYT trick at box 8 to get a hidden triple. Is that an alright thing to do?
It sure is. Nice job!
NF 23m 53s
Awesome job! I am impressed you did the whole puzzle NF. Are there any tips you want to share on how you kept up with the pairs and triples?
வாழ்த்துக்கள்., இந்த விளையாட்டு நேரம் சேமிப்பதற்கானதல்ல. நல்ல முயற்சி.
