@@JCMediaYT as long as it was moving and with the help of intercooler water spray, its is comparable to front mount... But once the vehicle stopped or used in low speed average competition like gymkhana/autoX or slalom time trial, thats were the top mount suffer in heatsoak
FMIC are great if you want to lay down a ton of power, but, without closing the top intake, you will create positive air pressure in the bay and hindering the radiators ability to properly cool the engine. Just basic physics. This is why you see people close the intake off on the hood. The FMIC also prevents airflow to the radiator to cool your engine. More basic physics.

Excellent explanation, but what if you were to put a fan on a top mounted intercooler would that help get rid of the heat soak or no?
well it would help during traffic stops but won't make too much of a difference while driving since hot air rises.

The lag is not even noticeable trust me I’ve modified 10 or more extensively personally owned always choose front
Which makes little sense as even a stock WRX with stock TD04 on stock tiny intercooler

it could actually help, since it lowers the IATs it may help prevent knocking due to heat soak caused by the factory top mount
