    Ah yes, projectile motion. I clearly remember doing an experiment in physic class where I calculated the exact distance away from a table a marble would land when released on a specific point on a ramp on the table. The marble rolled off the ramp, off the side of the table, and flew through the air, landing at the exact distance I had calculated. It was the thing that made me understand that the formulas I was learning weren't just abstract things invented to torture me, they were literally the keys to unlocking the secrets of the mechanics of the universe. Amazing moment.

    Hi Rich! Awesome video! You were so close to solving this problem and providing the correct derivation! I mean you were really really close, so pat yourself on the back! Look back at 1:21:14 to the equation we're looking at on the bottom left. What was left to do was multiply both sides of that equation by cos^2(ϕ). You would then have arrived at the following expression:
    0 = 560sin(ϕ)cos(ϕ) - 4.9(560/82)^2
    Then, we could divide both sides of the equation by 560 to obtain:
    0 = sin(ϕ)cos(ϕ) - (4.9)(560)(1/82^2) ----> The term being subtracted is roughly equal to 0.408
    We can then simplify this equation as 0.408 = sin(ϕ)cos(ϕ). Multiplying both sides by 2, we obtain: 0.816 = 2sin(ϕ)cos(ϕ) and we know this is equal to sin(2ϕ). So, we have sin(2ϕ) = 0.816, and this implies that 2ϕ = arcsin(0.816) which means that ϕ = (1/2)arcsin(0.816) which is about 27 degrees, the first solution we obtain!
    For the second solution, we need to know that, in general, sin(π-ϕ)=sin(ϕ). Why? Well, using the sine addition formula:
    sin(π-ϕ) = sin(π)cos(-ϕ)+sin(-ϕ)cos(π). Then, using a negative angle identity, we know that sin(-ϕ) = -sin(ϕ). Thus, our expression becomes:
    sin(π-ϕ) = 0cos(-ϕ) -sin(ϕ)(-1) = sin(ϕ). Going back to our problem, sin(2ϕ) = sin(180 - 2ϕ). Here, I'm using 180 instead of π since the problem asks for degrees. So, solving sin(180 - 2ϕ) = 0.816 will obtain our second answer!
    Once again, awesome vid! I always love seeing your content. Sending greetings from UT Austin!

      Yeah... I had more time and was taught to do some extra steps which would make the risk of negligence errors less, and then I switched schools and here we just have 2 minutes to read, write, calculate and get an answer! Whew! Now I have to actually learn all the equations to do it faster and I barely remember some multiplications!

    Assuming that the angle of projection is 'theta' so (theta=x)
    We get the components of the velocity along the x axis as ucosx and along y usinx
    So the velocity along x axis in projectile motion is constant so, now we write the velocity as a function of time
    Ucosx(t)=560
    82 cosx t=560
    T = 560/(82 cos x) --- 1
    Total time of flight is = 2usinx/g
    = 2×82sinx/g ---2
    Now equating 1 and 2
    We get 560/(82cosx)= 2×82 sinx/g
    560g/(82×82)= sin 2x
    {2sinxcosx= sin2x}
    0.8161=sin2x
    Sin inverse/ arcsin(0.8161) = 2x
    54.704 = 2x
    x = 27.35 or 27(approx)
    X =theta = 27 degree
    Hence there is ur ans😀😀
    Btw love ur vids man its an easy question if you are age 14 or above

    Hey, Rich
    I admire and indentify a lot with what you are trying to do here, I had the same stubbornness(edit: which I think is a great thing) while taking Physics I, but then this was a big problem since we barely had time to study the "standard way"! I don't know, but I have some distant memory of having tried something close to what you did here back in the day. Anyway, since you wanted to use only the constant acceleration formulas, one way was to
    (Considering x_0 = 0, y_0 = 0).
    -> Decompose v_0 in the x direction: x = (v_0 cos θ)t => t = x/(v_0 cos θ)
    -> Plug into the y equation y = (v_0sinθ)t - gt²/2:
    y(x) = (v_0sinθ)/(v_0cosθ) x - gx²/(v_0)²cos²θ. (I)
    The equation (I) is very, very useful to solve this kind of problem (and all its variations). I'm pretty sure you kind of know it in a way or another, but to actually write y(x) can help our brain to think in a more "concise way" , I guess. A perk of this equation is that it allows for an easy "derivation" of the equation for the range of the projectile (the one you had), just by pluging y(x = R) = 0 (projectile touches the ground) and then solving for R, or in the your problem, solving for θ, knowing R.
    Just found out about this channel! The quality is amazing and the topics a really interesting. The kind of ASMR I was looking foward to hear! BTW, your voice is great for narration, it's like space-documentary-butter smooth. I'm always in a battle between relax/sleep and start "sciencing". Thank you very much, really!
    P.S: I hope that my comment doesn't strike you arrogant or anything like that. I just wanted to share some little thing(that you may even know) because this topic was really fun and this equation stuck with me.
    Stay safe.
    E.
