- Welcome back to our channel, and we are here with yet another entertaining video on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Today we are going to talk about none other than Master Splinter himself and what makes him the undisputed Master of all time.
Master Splinter is undoubtedly always among the strongest fighters in the world, teaching his boys that there is so much more to learn constantly. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles would be drowning had it not been for Master Splinter. Even in the early comics, Splinter was in charge of rearing them after they were all exposed to the goo that mutated them, as well as teaching them ninjutsu techniques. The Turtles need Splinter's training, but where did he learn his skills? The answer to that depends on the medium the Turtles are featured in.

I prefer the human origin of Splinter. It gives the rivalry more authenticity imo. The father role to the turtles is great and I liked the 2012 version the most.
I think I prefer the Yoshi origin as well. It gives him a richer history as well as that eternal chance of him returning to being a human.
Nothing beats the original 1987 version either. Not to mention ROTTMNT deserves the best too.
Plus, I doubt anyone would want to join the Foot Clan nor take Shredder seriously if he told them that he's building a clan in order to kill one pet rat.

Master Splinter is great. Loved him in the original live action films and original 80s cartoon. I really liked the 2003 version too.
I like version of Splinter from the 2012 TMNT animated series. In here Hamato is more like a father who values his sons and always gives them useful, important life lessons, and reveal their unique features, but besides that, he is also their teacher, and quite strict. I also like Splinter's accent, voiced by Hoon Lee.

I must admit that while Master Splinter is one of my all time favorite TMNT characters, the only thing i don't like about his origins is that it just seems like they can't make up their mind about what he was before he was mutated, because in most TMNT iterations Splinter started out as a normal human but in other incarnations he was an ordinary rat before his mutations, i know it's dumb that that is my biggest gripe with Splinter's origins but the point is i wish they would make up their mind make him start out as a human or a regular rat and either way just stick with one.
It’s not dumb, it’s valid criticism, i always preferred the human origin as it made way more sense, 2012 Splinter being a perfect example and also my favorite depiction of Splinter.

But I like the backstory of him being a mutated hamato yoshi way more then I do him being a mutated normal rat
Plus as hamato yoshi it makes his rivalry with shredder more personal and authentic
It also gives him a much better position to be a mentor
In the original comic splinter was a abnormally smart rat who watched and learned from his master hemato yoshi
Especially since that had a part to play in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movies made by Jim Henson

Its a shame that Rise Splinter was only a foot note (only his voice actor was mentioned) and wasn't talked about like the other Splinters. Rise Splinter has an interesting history; coming from a long line of ninja warriors, being a movie star who did his own stunts, getting kidnapped and forced to fight in the Battle Nexus, being kidnapped again and experimented on, raising the turtles and helping them defeat Shredder. Not to mention, Rise Splinter is the only Splinter to have blood relations with the turtles since his DNA was used to mutate the turtles. (I don't count IDW Splinter and the turtles being blood related since their familial relations comes from their reincarnated status.) Oh, and don't forget that Rise Splinter (and by extension the turtles) has mystic powers.
While Rise Splinter is more father than sensei to the turtles. (He is also like a second father to April as well.) He may have taught the turtles how to fight, but he didn't seriously train them till later. He raised them to be able to defend themselves, not to be warriors. (Probably because he didn't want his sons to be raised like he was.) Not to mention, Rise Splinter's fighting style is very diverse. After all, he knows how to fight with unconventional weapons. Like fish and ladders for example. Which he taught to his sons. (Seriously, go check out the fight were the Rise turtles fight with fish and ladders. It fucking slaps.)

I prefer the origin where he was always a Rat making him a human before over complicates it. Also it makes him not as relatable to his sons if he wasn’t always an animal like them and can feel their pain and feelings of rejection.
I can see why they would make him human first because realistically, a Rat wouldn't just memorize someone's martial arts techniques. Making him a human first logically makes sense due to having years of the mastery, knowledge skill, and experience as a Ninja.
Yes. "MUTIGEN makes you Bigger, Stronger, Smarter" is an easier pill to swallow in my opinion than "DNA Transfer"

I prefer the normal intelligent rat Splinter who mimicked Hamato Yoshi training.
I prefer the origin of him being a rat because it makes Yoshi a martyr. It's not about a wronged person getting revenge that way. It's about a student avenging his master.
It also means that Saki's evil ways start the story in complete victory rather than only mistakenly victorious. It also ramps up the absurdity, which is a big source of TMNT's appeal.
I like all the splinter stories, But him being a ex leader of the foot and shredder being his old student & new leader of the foot with splinter out in jail/prison for false accusations from shredder & escaped in the sewers, talks to rats and has the turtles fall down there with him and they get into the ooze and become what they are today, Sounds way more realistic.

Tho I like the human to rat story more there is a huge plot hole. If the mutation is made by the last creature you touch then he should have turned into a Turtle being they are legit in his hand before his transformation.

Depends on which Shredder you're talking about. In the 2000s version of TMNT, there were FOUR Shredders! Oroku Saki, Tengu Shredder, Utrom Shredder, and Cyber Shredder.

@@theghostmaker45 yeah. Basically, Oroku Saki was a real person who later was corrupted by a Japanese tengu with the 2 of them eventually fusing into Tengu Shredder. When that Shredder was defeated and sealed away (to return later), Utrom Shredder took on Saki's identity and appearance in order to gain control of the foot clan. Tengu Shredder showed up again some time after Utrom Shredder's (seemingly) final defeat and was basically an mystical entity. Much later after this, a digital version of Utrom Shredder that had been created as a back up came online; created a body for itself and became known as Cyber Shredder. And of course the movie Turtles Forever brings back Utrom Shredder along with the 1980s Shredder and a cameo by Proto Shredder.

@@themondoshow I see where you're coming from but what counts as being human? Many people in the X-Men comics argue that mutants AREN'T human because they were BORN with those powers or born with genes that would later manifest those powers. The turtles may have been animals before mutating, but still have human traits. I'd even argue that Shredder isn't truly human due to his monstrous actions. I personally believe that humanity is defined by your actions not your birth. Are you a human or a monster? It's about perspective. The mutant Sabertooth (from X-Men) sums up some of what I mean by saying, "We're monsters, buddy. Plain and simple." He sees himself as a monster, and so he chooses to be monstrous. This is all just my opinion though, so you are free to disagree if you want.

I Studied Japanese Martial Arts Then Started Studying Chinese Martial Arts, Muay Thai, Karate, Wing Chun Do, Iaijutsu, Ninjutsu & Many More Show That Made Me Love & Respect The Martial Arts, But No Matter What I Learned The Way Of The Ninja & Samurai Arts Always Stay In My Heart. I Recommend Anybody Who Loves Martial Arts To Study A Couple Of Different Styles So You Can Find Out What You Enjoy The Most. Some People Because Of The UFC Now, Many People Men/Women Study MMA At Martial Art Schools! So Attending A Japanese Dojo or A Chinese Kwoon. I Hope What I've Written Here Will Help You Begin Your Journey As A Martial Artist. Myself I've Been Getting Back Into The Arts Because I Love Training & I Have To Lose Weight To Be A Healthier Human Being & Also I Can Be A Great Fighter For My Friends & Family. We Have So Much Crime In The World Today & Nobody Wants To Help Anyone Anymore Because Evil People Are All Around Us. Now Days People Will Do Anything They Can To Hurt You & Me. Just So They Can Get Money For Drugs, Rape Our Girlfriends/Wives & Kill Our Children. We Must Teach Our Kids The Basics To Defend Themself!
