For all of you saying this was shadowdropped, Porter said on Knock Yourself Out XD “Don’t Know my schedule on the 5th”. Well, today is the 5th, and we’ve been blessed with a 6 minute porter Robinson track my goodness.
Never thought I'd hear a song that contains the lyrics "funny monkey takes a piss into his own mouth, crazy" and "I wanna live, I don't wanna die... don't kill yourself, you idiot" together. It's completely unhinged haha.
This song is just….. wow. The production is beautiful, the musicality is next level, the lyrics are really deep, and the whole experience is really emotional. It’s the perfect middle ground between his new sound and his Nurture sound, and it works oh so well. And that whole second half….. damn, that hit.
My guess is that this song will split the album into two halves: the first half being more pop and high-energy (Cheerleader and Knock yourself out), and the second half being more emotional (probably with "is there really no happiness?")
I think it might be the closer with all the call backs to other songs and singles, feels very final, but I would loveeeee this if there was more introspection after haha
Production really had the Nurture feel to it in the start, then became a rave at the end with his creation of his new sound. This song is very special in what the lyrics are saying, aside the funny monkey. There's a small message of encouragement at the end, but overall, this is something very beautiful. When he goes I wanna .... one more time, it's very personal, and it really sticks out to me, in that it's being a cathartic confession. Porter is making sure that this album is special, and this cements it.
yeah first listen i was like wtf am i listening to LMAO but like after like the 2nd and third and really taking in all the lyrics, it's a super unique song and I really appreciate the message, really enjoyed this song though very pretty
Love the message of the song… like he’s putting his life on the line every time he does this, for the ones he loves and his supporters… gets a real joy from the work but it’s never set in stone whether or not this will be his last time doing what he loves or even being alive. Great lyrics
i was gonna say it sounds like unfold too! especially the part where he drops the chorus and flows into the bridge where his voice is really light and theres just a pad or something in the back
I’m so glad this song exists, not just because it’s brilliant but also because I was worried about the album given how much I really don’t like Knock Yourself Out at all. Having a song this upbeat and monstrous as the follow-up is such a breath of fresh air, love this track!
I’m loving the Virtual Self sounding effects and sounds on this track, especially towards the end of the track, the the edited vocal samples and beat breaks from that EP were a cool implementation
gonna put this the best way i can, but unfortunately I havent been the biggest fan of porter's 3 recent songs, with this one probably being my least favorite. The "drops" feel disconnected from the rest of the song and the new porter poppy sound that we have seen with the other two tracks, im really not a fan of. his newer pop oriented sound feels, not ingenuine, but just far from what we've heard from porter before, that it doesnt feel like porter. I understand that sounds evolve, but the direction toward poppy/pop punk kind of stuff just doesnt work for me, coming off an extreme high of how much i loved nurture. As of now im disappointed, but i hope there are some tracks on the album that i will enjoy.
maybe you just don't like pop music, its totally fine. as someone who does, this is some of my favorite stuff from porter i've heard so far, and this might be the best song hes ever put out. this is the most genuine porter i feel like weve ever gotten.
@RadaSmada i definitely dont agree and think there are countless better songs he has put out on both nurture and worlds, and even before. If you are only mostly pop music and not edm, then i understand that.
The other two before this one I could not get into whatsoever, but this one I liked because I got nurture vibes in the chorus and that’s what I needed 😂

@@Chaisounds Howdy :D
i’m singing, crying, and dancing at the same time to this song. only porter can pull this off

I like this theory a lot!

Or the other way around. The album is called Smile, so I guess it would make more sense to end on a positive note

Same, was listening to it on the way home from work today and got my mind blown when the lyrics finally clicked

made the unfold comparison too
The outro is a reference to "This Is The Hook" by BSOD (deadmau5 and Steve Duda (the guy behind Xfer (Serum and LFO Tool)))

I can really see this track as the album closer. It just has closing track vibes.
we should have expected this drop but even Dakota didn't have time to put on the bowtie
this gave me the same feeling as the new Paark album, pure bliss 😌

Hi bowtied thanks for the edm updates.

I kinda really hope this is the last song in the album. It fits so much as an ender.
Hot take but this better than cheerleader for me 😍🥹
wow ur fast
I was always told I did my work too fast in school…

mid song
Mid opinion
This song is so mid. His last 3 songs have been actual trash compared to the rest of his discography
bro has never felt emotion
@@RadaSmada worlds and nurture are full of emotion though
I would say my least fav of the 3 yea

Idk man I’m really loving the new sound, it’s a lot of fun
