I can’t believe you didn’t head out to Highgate in North London for hills. Swains Lane is the only London hill to feature in Simon Withers’ best climbs. Ok, it’s not Hardnott, but it’s the best us townies can get. And it it is steep - about 15% through the main section.
Nout there though. Long way out of town for a little climb. The other bits we went to have lots of shops, foods, entertainment, etc.
@@JimmidNicholls There's as much around Hampstead Heath as there is near Richmond
Pretty bad traffic though, especially at the moment with Dartmouth Park Hill being closed long term
You’d think being sponsored by Garmin, they’d be showing off the ‘Climb Pro’ feature of their Edge computers, up Swains Lane? But no, just pizza and coffee…. Plus, Brompton Docks do hire bikes as well.
@@JimmidNichollsSwains lane is only just north of regents park...and there is plenty of stuff in Hampstead.
I am sure this 7 minute video took many hours, perhaps days, to make. I really appreciate the effort. Thank you.
The climb up to Alexandra palace is a good one. it averages at 5% gradient but the view from the top overlooks all of London. Muswell hill is round the corner too which is full of restaurants and cafe's. Would recommend if you find yourself in the North of London! Hampstead is nearby and a good spot to ride too
I'd add the climb from Woolwich to Blackheath Common. Granny gear special.
Tough to fit things into such a short video but... Swains, Canonbie, College Road, Herne Hill Velodrome!
Thames Path from Greenwich down to Woolwich and beyond - that's the best London ride for me
Superb! Food food coffee coffee great riding... London has indeed come up a HUGE amount since I was there in terms of riding.
Shame you didn't get down to Herne Hill Velodrome or Crystal Palace.
Ride out to Greenwich park and Blackheath if you get a chance too. And don't forget a good lock if you leave your bike anywhere. Preferably, don't leave it anywhere you can't see it. Even if it is locked.
Same with Paris, it is cycling paradise!
Wasn’t looking forward to cycling through London from north to south, on my way to the start point for a recent London to Paris charity challenge ride (cycled to the start in Croydon from my home in N/East this time), having never cycled in London before, but have to say it was an absolute joy for all the reasons mentioned in this video.
I am from Canada and I ride in London at least once a week. My favorite is when I go into the Tube section and climb the elevator. I typically get my max power in this section.
For anyone going to Beigel Bake... I've seen it ONCE without a queue outside and that was last Sunday at half seven in the morning! Another quality blog guys!
Just some other suggestions: Thamesmead-Greenwich/Thames Path! Great coffee & cake at Greenwich! Shooters Hill to blast around off road, with proper gradients.
Agree. Seeing London by bicycle is fun. Visited a few years ago and rented a "real" bike and toured the sites.
Would have been fun to see you and Jimmi rent Bromptons for the occasion. 🤗🇬🇧🚴♀️
Gr8 Video! I was recently in London for the weekend, on foot and visited the main attractions including Harrods and the McLaren showroom. I noticed how clean the air is due to the emissions exclusion zones and how litter free the streets of Westminster are! One of the destinations I unfortunately didn't get time to visit was the Fully Charged e bike shop further down Canary Wharf but I did see lots of LIME e bike and hire scooters available in the city centre. My trip encouraged me to take the plunge and buy a good fold up e bike, and I look forward to returning to London to do some of the cycling routes in this video :)
Road the #therange today from Hampton Hill, epic route but the stingers and brambles were brutal 😂 ✌🏻
Fab series really enjoyed it. I think, along with the usual content and the podcasts, this is my favourite channel at the moment. Keep doing what you’re doing!
Thanks as a new cyclist in London this was helpful
I love these videos. It has given me so many ideas of places to ride. Hope you will make a few more in the future. 👏
you brought back a lot of memories when I rode in London with my best friend 3x. thanks for all your effort and hard work.
thank you for the video Francis and Jimmy
I Loved this series please continue it.
Next summer I'm coming back to the UK. Will definitely try and go cycling in the velodrome
freaking love your channel and energy, both of you, keep vibing! cheers from se usa
Best one yet, I’m Irish but I really want a holiday in London now👍
Very nice. I miss London and it's always changing.
This was a great series, thanks for that!
Thank for allowing me to fall in love with London again. Cheers.
Nice video thankyou. The parklands look great in the middle of London
if you want some decent hill climbing in London, get down to Greenwich and do loops going down the Avenue in the Greenwich park and then back up Point hill to the west of the park!
Safest city I have ride my bike. Enjoyed all the places you mentioned and the ride by the river/canal.
Hey Guys, great video. Love the energy 👍
Best cycling in London is along The Thames Path from Greenwich eastward toward Hoo Peninsula and Rochester.
Makes me wanna fly BOAC and ride around your beautiful city and soak up the sights and history. And test the competitive fires at that riding facility, amazing. Thanks for the smile on a Sunday morning across the pond. 😀
BOAC? Good luck with that time travel thing.
@@johnnunn8688 I'm ready to board and see all the sights on my Raleigh three-speed, but I see nothing on the big board of arrivals and departures for BOAC. I'll just wait for Pan Am. 😀
River Lea tow path - ride from the centre of London to the outskirts or further on flat gravel paths without ever seeing a car.
Nice one team. Information with humour.
I commute to London daily and it's true, it is safer than you think! Jimmi, where can I buy your t-shirt!?
I don't know if this has been adressed already, I would love to see an episode dealing with common cycling injuries. I've been struggling with cyclist/runner's knee for almost a year now and it's very frustrating, would love to hear about how others have dealt with it. All the best lads.
There's literally a whole series about bike fit on this channel with tonnes of videos
Go see a physio. I had issues with my knee that stopped me from riding. Essentially diagnosed as weak glutes and hip flexors putting a lot of pressure on my IT band causing further issues lower down. A month physio/activation work, twice weekly gym strength routine and I'm flying.
Avoid high gears and spin faster. Also stretch knees, calfs and achilles
My first feature in a Francis Cade video (albeit for a fraction of a second) what an honour! Thanks for having me on ;)
👀
Battersea power station is worth a ride to now. Yes it’s a little too like Canary Wharf with the security guards, cameras and bollards, but safe for bikers and the views are cool. The power station itself is beautiful. A ride back from Richmond park, via Putney, Wandsworth (admittedly some pretty naff bits ref cycle infra here) then along York road, on to Battersea park road on buttery tarmac in mainly segregated lanes. Enjoyed this Cade Media. ❤
Used to enjoy riding in Richmond Park early 90s, fond memories.
Rode three outer dirt track laps in Richmond just today, wondrous.
Also, Critical Mass London every last Friday of the month, 7PM BFI Southbank.
Or join an alleycat race to really experience London ;)
Best bike culture cafe/pub is Hop Kingdom in Bermondsey!
Very nice video. I like cycling on Tottenham Hale Canal as I called it.
Loved these videos.
@3:45 Gravel track around Richmond Park is OK but for me 7/10 because you have to be carefully avoiding pedestrians with dogs and children, so on the declines speed limit below 20 km/h (12 mph) especially during good weather and sunny days. New Forest National Park is a paradise for gravel riding, so maybe next episode from there just less than 2h from London ;)
Icco pizza in soho goes the hardest 🍕
Awesome show gents
No mention of La Ciclista as a café near Richmond Park, which is cycling specific and extra nice, even has indoor parking for bikes? It's near Mortlake train station.
Didn't know Brick Lane had beige bagels
(they're closed from tomorrow until September 1st 8am though...)
2:00 my man knows his London coffee to recommend Kaffeine!
And then you literally rep the best pizza in the city. I am sold
I agree, I don't have to fly to Murica! (already here) 😁 Oh and if you go to Lee Valley, check out the whitewater center there as well, who knows maybe you might get inspired to go paddle.
Makes me want to go to London!
The route 21 from Lewisham to Beckenham is really nice, along the river beck.
What a great series this has been. Loved the new format, great to see you mixing it up.
More of these please.
another great video
Awesome & Thanks :)
Unfortunately this comes three month late. Looks like I need to go to London again next year 😀
The Boy’s Are Back In Town!
Have to mention the Gravel Trails inside Epping Forest!
Loved the video! Anyone know what glasses Jimmy has on?
London is just a cool place to cycle especially if you get up early. The series should be longer, you totally missed Scotland, the South West and especially Yorkshire.
big up the SW and esp Cornwall for hill climbs
Swinley Forest Gravel and MTB.
Hillingdon cycle circuit is the real heart cycling in London
Ride round the Surrey Hills. Just came back from my morning ride from there
The video is named cycling in London not cycling in Surrey 😃
OK Francis…next time I’m in London you MUST take me on the scenic London tour or bust. Now…how do you compare riding In NYC to London? I recall feeling much safer there. Only one close call during a ride, which is about 5X less than NY (remember that ride through the Bronx?). Hugs from across the pond!
Can’t believe you didn’t do South Wales! 😢 Loved this series though.
The river lee from the themes too Hartford traffic free.
Have you seen the GCN London video? Of course you have. You guys are now trend setters! Always have been, really.
What tires model/size are you guys using on the Scott?
London is not just the capital of England, it is the capital of all the countries that make up the UK.
Ha ha.
tried Detroit a few years ago, best ive ever eaten. ever. havent had it in years... miss it. Dom's subs too, unreal.
SWAINS LANE
Missed the Rapha store/cafe and spotting the Rapha riders then? No pun intended.
Dartmoor is a great place for riding
What brand is the black cycling glasses please???
Hopefully you got to catch up & ride with some of your London-based buddies
also ive got a great gravel circuit for you in america. its gorgeous. the Green Circle Trail in Stevens Point Wisconsin. 36 mile course. doi it in under 2h 21m and you best me
My favorite pizza is from Papa Murphy's and it is a crustless pizza.
I'm digging all this new content but please bring back the Vlogs!!!!
Did jimmi say "cycling round the UK?" what did we miss... Scotland maybe??? 😂😂😂Dig in🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴
surreh is basically London too
North West biased so quite a bit missed but Im Guessing that's where you boys were living. Still a great vid 🎉
i went to London 1 week ago and ride the bike till i got lost 4-5 times and need to use gps to get back to "civilization " 3 session of 1 h+ ride and couple museums visit best s...t ever :)))
How did I not know about a pizza shop inside a classic car garage!?
❤
mmmm. Question: Not Londen ( tee hee hee "Lundun" ^^ ), but would you be interested to present ride around England or Wales along coastal paths?
France, The Netherlands and in minor Belgium have popular coastal cycle paths, and now you leave me wondering for the UK, it being an island ^^. But I realize that the UK is a bit big for this kind of presentation.
You just missed the largest landmark in London, Pub "The Nag's Head" in Peckham.
Thanks Francis and Jimmi...uh......Wellington arch..? Pas Paris ..non ?
All those coffee shops. If you're on your own, how do you park your bike securely?
Hiplock z-lock or ride with mate/s. The lock has worked 100% of the time for me for
Herne Hill Velodrome?!
Scotland? Its north of Newcastle if you are struggling to find it 😂
I live in America. Where are these amazing American cycling holiday destinations?
yall gotta deal with the inconsistent volume level thoughout out of studio vids
There not an issue for speeding bikes in royal parks
Shout out to an Xmas Bagel
Had me sold at pizza
Leaving your bike unattended even locked up in London and you won’t see it again. But otherwise, great video. Pizza metro if it’s still going in Clapham Junction is great
@6:32
Pavement Pizza - mmmm
Box hill
Massively overrated.
It’s in Surrey, not London.
But it’s 5 minutes of pure pain 😅
