A wonderful story, but this isn't WWII. There just aren't enough Russian jets in the air to provide the "Ghost" with enough targets that he can splash SIX of them in a single day. Haven't really followed the development of DCS for several years.... Damn, this truly is impressive! Not only the visuals but also - or should I say especially - the sound! WOW!!

Russia don't use Su-27 for a while. Right now it's Su-30 and Su-35 all over the place. Even MiG-29's are only in the fleet. It's always nice to see a new video on your channel. The political overtones make it less enjoyable, even though it's a request from the comments. Hope this war will be over soon.
One thing about the Ghost of Kyiv stuff is that much of the footage has combat occurring very close to the deck. In this videos it seems to be trying to set up fights like what we see in the videos that have come out of Kyiv. But a lot of this is probably selection bias too. Phone cameras cant capture a dogfight at BVR up at 20k feet or whatever. How does the MiG-29 stack up against these adversaries in a BVR fight an can we get a BVR rematch at some point?
The MiG 29 has good radar, but it is nowhere near as advanced as what Russia has. Keep in mind the MiG 29 is pretty old (outmatched by most aircraft in service around the world), so the best way to even the odds against more advanced aircraft is to reduce your radar signature by being close to the deck and avoid BVR as much as possible.
I'm not confident that this is one guy, or even one plane. It's entirely possible that these kills are credited to one unnamed person to make the Russians nervous. Which is IMO a reasonable thing to do.
Hates me, but it's hard to enjoy DCS or any other MilSim these days. It is no longer theoretical or far away. It's happening now, practically on our doorstep. Maybe I'm just shocked. Dunno. Anyway, thanks for the video and for addressing the topic
I mean, it's a neat story, sure... but it's just way too unlikely of it really happen! There are simply too many things speaking against it than for it to be real. Plus, as far as I've heard, the one responsible for the rumor already admitted it was born of a 4 am Discord call! He heard something about 4 Air-to-Air kills - not even from the same pilot - and made everything up on the spot...
Is it possible that the ghost is fighting over an area saturated with MANPADS operated by people who can at least distinguish friend from foe? This can definitely reduce the Russian pilot's survival rate. Also, it appears that keeping the Russians within knife fighting range is crucial. Very risky business, but people have been known to stay lucky for a while.
Wow *love* that you're doing this!!! I knew with your love of the MiG29 in DCS that you'd do something like this lol. Wish you'd at least shot down one 35 tho!!! 🤣
If it is true then maybe he's using tactic like you did in one vid (can't find it now) when you were flying very low to prevent radar detection with switched off radar and using fox-2 to shot down surprised enemies ;)
One thing that could be in play is the fact that average Russian pilot has just around 100 hours per year in the plane.. while Ukrainian pilots, like for example the Su-27 pilot killed in dogfight, had 2000 hours.. and there are supposedly multiple such experienced Ukrainian pilots flying.. so while they are outmatched with technology, experience is on their side.
I definitely had my doubts about a Fulcrum being able to take on an Su-35. Unless he somehow caught them completely off guard while operating in IRST or something, I don't think it'd be possible.
I mean it's believable that it got lucky and caught off guard an su-35 and killed it but 2? I don't think so, it's probably just to boost the men's morale

Actually there are... at least one that is. Couple of days ago I saw a short footage on CNN or wherever showing a wreck - my guess, mind you - of an Su-25. Being a total wreck, it was impossible to tell if it was Ukrainian or RF AF aircraft.
there are some cockpit wreckage videos in the street, an IRST pod seen in front of it, could be a flanker
@@sirfoggy7682 No its actually confirmed now the wreck was the "Blue 19" of the UKR Airforce.
There was a piece of a russian su 27/35 in some photos
If he is real, may God be with him; if he is only an urban legend, I pray for more like him.
Great flying, mr GS. Love the content!
Thank you.
I just wanted to say that I love your channel and you inspired me to try dcs and I got myself pretty basic module (flaming cliffs pack) and I'm blasted. Already managed to splash some planes down (only AI's so fary, didn't try multiplayer yet). Thank you for awesome and educative content! I've learned so much about dogfights from your channel.
A very fulfilling hobby! Especially if you have even the slightest interest in aviation!
@@grant1284 Yes! I had loved aviation since I can remember. Spent a few years simming civilian aviation and flyingn a bit irl but never got my license. Gonna get a better flight stick and I'll be set
Been interested in getting the same pack to start out with. I just have no space for the game right now
Good stuff man! Just made one on him myself. But you're far better with DCS than me! Haha. Certainly hoping it's true! That would be incredible.
certainly would be one hell of a story man.
Yes sir, this dude is straight outta Ace Combat
Yo buddy... still alive?
@@DimSum9685 is the ghost still alive? Who knows. I really do hope so!
Mobius 1, engage!
He have Belkan technology.
Let's just hope they don't crank out the group "A world without boarders." Russia would definitely be Belka then.

GS - "Possibly one of the greatest pilots in the last 40 to 50 years."
MAVERICK - " HOLD MY BEER "
Even then, I believe maverick got 2-3 splashes against an inferior plane in BFM. But movies will be movies.
It's like a Hornet with the energy performance of a Viper. Not so great for BVR but murderous at close range.
Yep, Mig35 is even better. Like Mig29 on steroids. With Israeli Python missiles would be like walking death in target rich environment.
The one thing DCS has taught me is that modern air combat is very dangerous.
Yeah, not like back in 44', much safer back then
Always been dangerous
I like how you are waiting for the facts and confirmed kills instead of just agreeing/disagreeing about whether he actually did those 6 kills or not
Thank you for this video and your level headed views. Every time I watch your vids I am taken back to when I was a hawk crew chief. I had some amazing pilots that could talk and do the way you do in your vids and it just feels sooooooo dam familiar. I love your content and am always eager to watch everything you post.
thanks for spreading fakes?
This was genuinely a very good video. One of your best in my opinion.
The video everyone’s been waiting for 🙏🏽
Perfect! Was hoping you’d do this episode 😍
yes!!
Same. Was hoping it would be out soon
If the Ghost existed he would not wait for a merge to engage, but rather fire missiles in their face.
This is a really good example of missiles flying into buildings. Killing civilians.
Its a life or death situation. Yet there's collateral damage.
War is devastating.
That very video you mentioned is what got me to conquer my gaming anxiety and get into DCS after years of Sturmovik. Now I can't live without it two years later.
Since his unveiling in Finland in 1986, I've always thought that the coolest thing in the Mig-29 was his NATO reporting name: Fulcrum.
NATO did a great job marketing Russian planes lol.
Well, since the Russians don't officially name their aircraft, someone had to.
And become completely unreliable.
Soviets choose Sukhoi for their own AF and sold Fulcrums to other Warsaw Pact countries.
As soon as i read the Ghost Of Kyiv story i thought "I really hope Growling Sidewinder makes a video"
The mist that kept on haunting
Wings of Hell, flying, taunting

*Their wings taken, fall into the pit*

@@Anarchy_420 Yep, i made it myself
Maybe the metal band Sabaton would be interested.
Many thanks for covering this topic and making this video!
So far, the only video I've seen of fixed-winged kills was what looks like a Ukrainian MiG-29 that engaged a pair of Russian Su-25s at pretty much point-blank range (it looked like within a kilometer) and killed the trailing Frogfoot before peeling away at a height of only a couple hundred meters.
Did you see the video of the Su-25 taking a stinger to the face and continuing to fly? Oh man.
@@roceye Yeah, those things were the Soviet equivalent of the A-10. They can take a hard beating and keep on flying. Usually.
3:10 - God...imagine walking out of your place and seeing this. lol That'd be NUTS!! (And kinda friggin awesome, really. lol)
Awesome fights cant wait to rewatch it on major news outlets. You might need to put a disclaimer on the bottom of the screen saying this is DCS.
Haven't really followed the development of DCS for several years.... Damn, this truly is impressive! Not only the visuals but also - or should I say especially - the sound! WOW!!
I love how poorly half of these comments aged. Arm chair generals/pilots are unbelievably naive and stuck up.
LITERALLY WAS WAITING FOR YOU TO LITERALLY DO THIS VIDEO LITERALY
Can you look into mig-29 ambush tactics as if the ghost is real I would imagine he used surprise to bounce russian pilots with their eyes on the ground looking for targets/AAA/manpads
The entire Ukrainian airspace is being scanned by Russian radars 24/7 there's no way they'd be going in blind...
@@haythemsandel8303 Maybe some missile system was overhyped.
@@gaiofattos2 There are way too much "maybes" for this story to be statistically possible
first i did not believe it but now i am starting to .
thanks bro :)
But it's another video with my favourite aircraft, why am I complaining? XDXD
I love the wreckage hitting the ground concusive explosive effects.
Keep in mind the MiG 29 is pretty old (outmatched by most aircraft in service around the world), so the best way to even the odds against more advanced aircraft is to reduce your radar signature by being close to the deck and avoid BVR as much as possible.
rumors has it the ghost was shot down but survived. Poland was looking to commandeer a plane to have him back in the air.
The guy who posted this clip did state that it was DCS and that he just wanted to visualize the conflict
That is correct.
Loving the new format of the videos. Top notch!
I'm not confident that this is one guy, or even one plane. It's entirely possible that these kills are credited to one unnamed person to make the Russians nervous. Which is IMO a reasonable thing to do.
Yup, it's highly likely that way.
None of his claimed kills are even real, besides maybe the SU-25
I've been waiting for this..I'm glade it came from this Chanel first
I was waiting for someone to do this. If these tales turn out to be true, this pilot deserves his own episode of History Channel's 'Dogfights'
Ive been so wanting one of these videos. He's even in your precious MiG 29!
As much as I hate russian planes, the Mig 29 is seriously underrated, I'd prefer a flanker but the fulcrum is no slouch.
I thought about GS and his mig29 when these stories started appearing 😁 finally a video!
I think ghost of kivy is just story realistically not possible
Judging by the apparent lack of skill of the Russian military, it’s starting to seem pretty likely.
"Oof, he did not have enough time to eject there..."
Me thinking: Good.
Hates me, but it's hard to enjoy DCS or any other MilSim these days. It is no longer theoretical or far away. It's happening now, practically on our doorstep. Maybe I'm just shocked. Dunno. Anyway, thanks for the video and for addressing the topic
I'm having similar feelings. Haven't been able to touch DCS since last week.
Peace to you ghost, Maverick in real life
Hell yeah i was waiting for this!
I was waiting for this. Thanks GS.
Who’s the one responsible if you don’t mind?
Haha Yes! I've been waiting for this! The old bird still has a few tricks up her sleeve yet!
Most beautiful fighter jet ever
Nice edit and soundtrack! Amazing
We now know of course that this supposed "ghost" never existed of course.
The second kill was hilarious! Awesome stuff!
Can't wait until people post video of this thinking it is also real.
Some fine piloting in that 2nd engagement in particular, just bulldogging the bandit.
If it is true then maybe he's using tactic like you did in one vid (can't find it now) when you were flying very low to prevent radar detection with switched off radar and using fox-2 to shot down surprised enemies ;)
15:32 Gunz FTW ❤Tom Cruise be pissed. 🤣 Buzz the Tower
He was killed by a SAM as far as I know.

I definitely had my doubts about a Fulcrum being able to take on an Su-35. Unless he somehow caught them completely off guard while operating in IRST or something, I don't think it'd be possible.

I'm soo glad you made this ❤️
11:24 that last ditch gun fire lol
Even if the ghost “isn’t real” or “can’t be proved” it’s more of a symbol than anything. And that’s all that matters now. A symbol of an underdog standing up to an oppressor.
It's giving false hope to people who are unknowingly going to get slaughtered because of this ridiculous propaganda. It gives citizens the idea that they are winning. Untrained citizens are worse than useless on the battlefield.
