I really felt sad about the ending though, both Max and Kane pursue their mission to protect the world in the end and I like the part of the characters in which they have been a legend in slaying the dark dragon together with Max and they got to live to write their own story and continue living. anyways, great game I played this a billion times again and again and the ending is still sad :( but wheres the fun if all this didnt happen right
As always, a beautiful ending from one of the Sega Genesis' ultimate RPGs ever- ... sniff, I still get messed up with the ending emotionally- and I just wish they would have remade Shining Force II ... ah well. I am just glad this happened, the add ons were beautiful to give it more depth in storyline. Long live the SHINING FORCE.
Geez that battle looks way easier than the final battle on the Sega Genesis. I don't know about this version but in the Genesis version Max is doing a special move if he is the one finishing off the Dark Dragon. Also as i recall Torasu can cast Aura 4 at lv 20 which heals all HP of all the entire party but it was, once again, on the Genesis version and from what i've seen the GBA version is a lot different from the original one but still really good. You played with a really good selection of characters. Since it's the first video i viewed of the GBA version of Shinning Force i don't know if Zylo can join the team like in the Genesis version but i always liked to have him for the last battle because he is strong and has a high critical hit rate, at least on the Genesis version. That game is an absolute classic on the Genesis and i'm glad to see the GBA port seems to be at least as good as the original and lets be honest it's not something that happens really often these days. Ace Acer One of the reasons why this version is so much easier is because of the new characters, cards, and most importantly MAGIC RESISTANCE. Kind of a game changer being that magic is OP in Shining Force.
I wish that Max and Adam would just come back to the shining force and everyone would be proud and everyone lives happily ever after. I mean it is possible since im pretty sure max and adam just wanna settle down for a while and maybe go back after.
There is an extended story with Max and Adam after defeating dark dragon. Its called Shining Force Gaiden the Final Conflict but it was only available for the Sega game gear in Japan. You should check it out, they made a translation mod and have playthroughs of it.

Why Balbaroy did they buff him from the original, I remember that he and Amon sucked big time.. That's a spot you could have filled with Arthur, or even Zylo.. Props on chosing Kris as one of your healers.. She was always one of the best healers.
Max was most probably Bowie's great-granduncle or granduncle (assuming Bowie was Ian's grandson or son). There is ~20 yrs timegap between SF1 and Final Conflict and at least ~40 yrs timegap between Final Conflict and SF2. So it is not likely unless Max sired a son when he was already around 60 yrs old.
Well there is a SF CD, two SF games on gamegear but other than that...yea, all we get other than the ones that focus on a small party and are more RPG like Beyond the Beyond, Golden Sun and the Dungeon Crawlers ones on genesis and saturn...
Is the ending random? When I beat him Zuika was the one making the final statement with Mawlock, Mushashi, and that vicar. I have read otherwise that it would be Mae who would say the final words
I am not sure, but i think it depens either of the one that delivers the final blow, or the team u used against him or even the chars u recruited along the game... cant think different factors of those... I only got this same ending even when Max delivered the final blow, so maybe another specific one should trigger a different one...

So far I've seen the following endings Zuika: telling how he is grateful to have met Max being from the past and coming to the future. Hans: telling how he admitted on being scared of fighting and how Max kept on believing on him. Torasu: says how honored he is to be taken as an old man, and questioned if he ever was useful to him. Domingo: says DOMINGO DOMINGO!
I have the Genesis version from Genesis Classics Pack and while it seems hard at first if you figure out to keep your mages, leader, and healer back far enough they can still get to work while the tanky characters lead. This way you won't trigger the aggressive AI. You can also egress, change strategy somewhat, and bring everyone else up to level. Leveling healers is a nightmare though. I have to say the Genesis version looks far better, the freeze spell has swinging myst that look really cool and that a bunch of really cold wind is blowing around (Freeze 4 is absolute zero) whereas just dropping chunks of ice lacks that effect. Dark Sol and Dark Dragon also looked far more darker and sinister whereas this version is too lame and cartoony in comparison. Everything in the Genesis game from spells to attacks just look like they have more weight behind them whereas everything in the GBA version looks kind of limp. My current party is Max, Zylo, Bleu, Mae, Arthur (all promoted at 20 and now level 5), Kokichi, Guntz, Domingo, Gong, Lowe, Anri, and Tao. I'm satisfied with it so far but will switch out Domingo for Alef and Lowe for Torasu later. Maybe I'll bother to level Adam, but I know once Musashi arrives I'm benching Mae then Gong for the ninja. I played Shining in the Darkness before it though and spoiler alert, it's the worst game ever made. You can't see your character, it's 3D first person but not in a good way like Quake or Doom which has wide open spaces too at least, the game has no active dodge and at least early on monsters move before your character does. The problem with this is if something's about to die it could cast doom or get some damage in, making you need to consume MP to heal, in other words an armor piece that grants speed instead of defense for the hero would have been nice in that game. Also, Dark Sol is the butt chin court mage whose name I forgot.

I had both systems but had the Genesis version of Mortal Kombat because Gamepro mentioned the blood and fatality enabled code for Genesis which lacked in the SNES version. Killer Instinct was still a cool game, but probably radically different and gimped compared to the Japanese version (like always, especially with Final Fantasy games thank goodness Sony picked up the series instead.) The original was kid friendly enough I think and I thought Dark Dragon and Dark Sol's character portraits and the frost spell line looked cool. I'm just glad I saw how lame the remake is before buying it, saved me lots of disappointment. They should totally come out with a legitimate remake of Shining Force one of these days. I'd keep most things as are but instead of palate swaps I'd give each mage and caster an individual look, make the point you obtain Adam, Toruso, and Alef mid-game to make them useful and develop them naturally without grinding, change a couple of characters to lefties (only the lizardmen are lefties but as enemy mobs don't really count) probably Earnest and Luke any random two except for Musashi since it'd be out of character for a samurai) buff Balbory and Amon to make them competitive with Bleu and Kokichi, nerf demon master and enemy priest type's evade rates, add a black character with plot relevance and not a stereotype, add some lore with furries centaurs and elves all being racist against humans, so the ones who join the team would be considered sell outs, improve AI, buff mobility across the board but not too much, replace some of Adam's defense gains with attack because defense is useless at that stage of the game when most enemies ignore it, a single unit training map to get everyone up to speed but the catch is you can only reach up to the highest leveled character in your party currently, many extra maps and enemy types, make elements matter so no killing ice worms in one hit with frost level 4, etc. while maintaining the integrity of the original game.

I was playing golden sun 2 these days and when i fought against the doom dragon he used against me a move called 'Darksol Gasp', so i searched and searched and i found this videos. Now, everything interesting, who is the character who seems Link of Zelda? I ask because i saw a character not playable and hidden in the game who seems Link, in golden sun 2 using the cheats with the action replay. I saw him in a video, i don't have the action replay. Maybe it's the same character, i find interesting all of these similarities and references. Also doom dragon have 3 head as dark dragon, at this point i don't think it's a coincidence.
Plus, in golden sun they talk about the ancients and 'the wise one' is a semi-divine creature created by the ancients who have the form of a rock with an eye, just as the eyes in the mouths of the dark dragon (as we can see at 8:22) that is a creature created by some powerful ancients as well.
+kryldost I understand your concern, but SF1 ... the fact that it was REMADE ... is more than a respect- it's an honor; and I am just glad I saw it in my lifetime.
The story for this game could have been turned into manga or anime. Its story was original, and it taught me moral value about friends and teamwork.

i didn't use the strongest team here in special to get the card... though stats didn't matter too much at this point anyway...
