Been looking for this recipe for a while, tried to ask my mom but memory loss got the best of her. Thanx a bunch i can now make a childhood favorite of mine.
I remember making these in grade school for one of our holiday parties. The class thought she was crazy when she brought out the Grape Jelly until we all tried them. Huge hit! We had some awesome teachers! 😋
Omg I learned your recipe years ago and thought about remaking your recipe again tonight but almost couldn’t find your video. So many people uploaded on how to make this but none look just as good as yours. Your recipe is the only way to go!!
I just bought the stuff to make this version. I will post an update after I make them this Sunday! I'll give my honest opinion. I've had multiple other jelly meatball recipes and none have gone wrong yet!
Thanks! I've been doing it with gardine vegetarian classic meatballs since family have gone vegetarian and it works great like that too although you only need 2hrs on high.
Delicious!! Thank you. I added some regular yellow mustard, I guess you could use whatever you prefer, Worcestershire sauce, splash of malt vinegar, and minced onion the second time I made these.
So I didn't have enough grape jelly one time and used some strawberry jelly. Sooo good and now I do it everytime. Also, try the homestyle. Great idea with manwich sauce!
Wanted to leave comment below, I made the same recipe you did on the video last week for a friend's gathering and it was the bomb!! They loved it. Thank you so much!!
I finally have the opportunity to try your recipe for my large family. The only difference is I've made my meatballs from scratch. Blessings to you for this video.
@@Akire519 I only cooked them for about 1 to 2 hours in the sauce, then left them on medium heat while the family served themselves. And they loved them!
I have a potluck to go to tonight and hub wanted meatballs like this..never made them before....oh... my...gosh... the bomb.... I don't even need to tweak the recipe.... it'll be my Go To recipe..thank you ! ~~Phoebe from Lakeside
Looks delicious I’m gonna use your recipe today. What do you pair it up with like for example potato salad or what other sides do you make with your meatballs?
New subscriber here, im new to cooking and let me tell u THANK U for putting the measurements and everything needed in description! Cant wait to make this tonight!!
Ok I tried this for my church, they loved it.......!! Unbelievable 😚..but with the chili sauce make sure it's not hot chilli sause, unless you want a bit of fire.......it's good both ways
+Donna that's awesome! Glad everyone liked it. Been using this recipe for 15 years for potlucks and parties. Even did vegan ones the last time for my friend who is vegan.
Thanks a bunch. I'm going to try these for my daughter's birthday party. I have very limited oven space and never thought of using my crockpot. Thank you!
I've been looking up different recipes for crockpot sweet and sour meatballs and yours looks the best by far. Can't wait to make them for my Super Bowl party this weekend!
I've seen so many variations of this recipe, but this one looks the best. I bought all the ingredients today and will try tomorrow. Only I'm making home made meatballs, otherwise my grandmother will spin in her grave lol.
Thanks! I've done this with homemade meatballs and they tended to be a bit soft and fall apart. The pre-fab ones from the store then to be stiffer and get quite soft in the crockpot. So if you do use homemade nana's recipe meatballs, you might be able to cut back on the length of time the meatballs need to crockpot. Good luck! Let me know how it goes!
EatDrinkFoodMe & Fun you are right, I'm making this now and the meatballs are getting pretty soft. But the sauce is perfection. The Manwich sauce is sooooooooo good in there!
Hello from Canada! Colleague brought these meatballs to a work potluck today... Everyone was asking for the recipe and she provided this link! The meatballs and sauce is 10/10. Such a great combination and flavorful YUM.
Hello!! Thanks for the great story! Glad you all enjoyed the recipe. I've made it a few times for potlucks myself these last few weeks, including using vegetarian meatballs. My go to recipe for kids and a crowd.
Thanks for this special one recipe... I make it different im from PR and i just use Grape Jelly, Cocktail Sauce, Sofrito and Complete Seasoning a little bit water and i cover them until they are done. But i want to try this way... They look so good! Thanks for the video.
If I were bringing these to a party at work, how would I keep them fresh until the party starts? It'll be at 1230ish, but I'll be getting to work around 830. Thanks in advance! These look delicious
I did the same. I plugged the crock pot in at work and reheated it till noon. My lid latches onto the crockpot base so it was easy to just bring the whole thing into work. Otherwise you can bring it in a large bowl or dish and microwave it if you have a large microwave at work. Hope everyone likes your meatballs!!
I Loveeeee meatballs I'm definitely making these for thanksgiving my grandma makes these for every holiday ND I love them but this year she isn't going to be in town ND I have to have my meatballs so I guess I'm making my own looks very good
Thanks for this video. I am doing this tomorrow. About same amount. The 8 hours has me worried though. Does it really take that long to heat all the way through on low? Or, is it about the flavor development? Help... And Thanks again.
No it doesn't take that long, you just need it heated all the way through. THe flavors do mellow more and the meatballs shrink a bit by 8hrs but it works for parties. If you want to do it on the stove it would be way faster to get it heated up, and you can pour into a crock pot to serve hot at the party.
I made this for my party and it was great!!! You really need to tell people to make way more than they think they will need. My party goers went through these things in fifteen minutes. As for the timing, I heated from frozen for about an hour on high and then went to low for three more hours and they were perfect. I will do this again soon and won't change a single thing about your recipe. Thanks so much!
@@nope.thankies it taste like regular meat balls. there is no sweet or tangy. taste to. 9 times out 10 youve probably had bbq meatballs made with jelly.
I haven't made them yet, but now that I have the recipe I will be making them soon. I had Grape-Jelly Meatballs at a Christmas Party once or maybe even twice. These are the best meatballs I have ever ate, everybody wanted the recipe. But not many people got the recipe cause it was an old family recipe. Because you mentioned Mom & where she worked (Hunt's Manwich Sauce) led me to think this might be the secret recipe. If this happens to be the same guy from that Christmas Party. It would be nice to know I have his guarded secret recipe now. We played slow-pitch softball together in Riverside, Ca. Allstate Christmas Party.
This really looks great. I never tried putting sloppy joe sauce in mine, that's very interesting. I must try that the next time I do mine in the crock pot. However I do think 8 hours was a bit much I turn my crock pot up on high to speed up the cooking process. I'm just saying!!!!
If you have a large pot or 2 pots you can cook them on the stove, about 1hr will heat them through but they won't be tender and soft as the crock pot. Or 2 crock pots, you can do double the recipe. If you don't want to cook it in the crockpot, you can rent a large restaurant pan (like the ones caterers use) and add sterno under. The meatballs can be thawed and heated in the oven (30min at 350F should work) in that pan, boil up the sauce and pour it over the hot meatballs, then leave it on the sterno during the party to keep it warm.
Awesome recipe!! You did an excellent job with your video - short & informative. Instead of standard manwich I used their bourbon barbecue version I found at my local grocery store and it came out incredible.
Hi! I'm excited to make this dish for an upcoming party and I was wondering if I could substitute the grape jelly with cranberry jelly or would that make the taste completely different? Thank you!
Looks interesting, I just want to know what the grape jelly adds to the dish. Can you taste the grape jelly? Or does it only add an extra sweet taste (like adding sugar)?
The other sauces have more flavor so it masks it but you can taste a hint of the jelly. If you use something like black berry or straw berry jam it taste more fruity. If you prefer another jam or to use some honey instead the recipe works fine
I made this on 2/9/23 and it was a hit not a single meatball left. This will be the only way I do this from now on. THANK YOU! 🤗
Short, sweet and right to the point. That's how I like it.
You got that right!!
