Well this was super creative! I didn't know there was even such a thing as food grade epoxy resin, and the top tank tip is great! Definitely smarter than most doctors. Looking forward to seeing more of the scaping and I hope your 2025 is a great one! 🎊🎇
Dear Gil: As you know, I’ve gone with a black substrate and backdrop, for years. Although this makes the hardscape, flora, and fauna stand out; it doesn’t look natural. This tank will sit between two, other tanks, on a wrack, right? If so, the side view, of this tank, will be obscured. That is probably for the best as the backdrop would loose it’s charm, if viewed, from the side. I’ve been watching Saha (whose TH-cam Channel is called “Saha's Fish Farm”) scape a tank, which has both sides (and the back) painted black. At first I found this odd, but I’m beginning to like the effect. Thank you for sharing the build and set-up of this, terrific backdrop. It sure looks like a lot of fun. All my best, Sincerely, E. J. Brinegar
this is genuinely the easiest and most amazing 3d background option I've come across! You're awesome Gil!
This was my small practice piece. Now I've figured it out, time to upscale to a BIG tank!
The background is looking amazing Gil! I liked that sand-throwing part, but I doubt my wife will be happy with me replicating that in our apartment:)
Just go ahead and do it. And then blame the cat.

@TarasTankFriends The whole time I was adding the last Colour layer, I was thinking how realistic you could get it to look.
Great scape Gil!! And great tutorial. Looking forward to seeing the next episode for this tank! 👍
Thanks Maureen, so am I.
Looks absolutely awesome.
Loved the tips... Never would i havd thought of using tp with super glue..
Really well done.
Thanks Chris. The glue and tp has been around for a while. I think that they used cigarette filters back in the day.
That was a very cool tutorial, Gil! It turned out great. This is stuff I would never have considered . . . until now. Thanks for this one!
Thanks Ron. I didn't have any foam and as they say, necessity is the mother of all invention.
@ this seems like a better solution than foam anyway. And the foam in a can is so darned expensive!
You should be happy, looks fantastic! Don't recon glad wrap was made for blokes... I always struggle with it! 😂
Gr8 content as always.
Thanks mate, I'm pretty happy with the result. Don't get me started on the glad wrap...

Yes, it is in between two other tanks, although I have black window film on the sides to block the light coming in from the sides.
Well done project and well done video! I have no interest in making my own background, but I watched the whole video.
Thanks mate. You never know, one day you might be keen to give it a go.
