I love the transparency of this video! 😊 when I first started budgeting, I was told that I needed to be honest about what I spend (I was being a little reserved about my own target envelope LOL 😆). I feel like sometimes others judge our personal priorities, like yes I do have a target and hair envelope because I’m being honest about what I spend my money on lol! So seriously, it’s nice to hear someone talk through their stuffing and knowing that’s what works best for them and their family!
💯 this!! A budget isn’t about restrictions, it’s about choosing where your money goes ahead of time so you can spend it with out guilt, stress or shame! I think it’s awesome that you have envelopes for those things 🙌🏼🤍

Let’s get it!! 🙌🏼 As far as paying off debt, we calculate our minimum payments into our budget, budget everything else, then put all the remaining money into paying off our debt right away, with out even taking out the cash! I’d rather be paying it off quickly, so I’m not getting charged interest! It makes me crazy to think I have cash sitting around when it could be paying off the debt right away! 🤣 I’m not sure if that makes sense or not, but I’m going to be posting a video this week about how I work our zero-based budget at the beginning of every month!

It’s a great question! 🤍 In short, the cash stuffing method is when you budget using cash. It helps people to stay with in their budget and there’s also a psychological thing that happens when you spend cash (vs using a card). When you use a card, nothing happens psychologically. You swipe your card and put it back in your wallet. When you use cash, it activates the pain sensors in your brain and it makes you think twice about spending (it helps people like me who are spenders to not be so impulsive 😅) I use my debit card for online shopping and I pay my bills online, but when I spend from one of my cash categories, I put that cash back in my account at the end of the month to “pay myself back” (I have a video about the process of how I do that). And I do carry a decent balance in my checking account so I’m not taking everything out in cash, just the most common spending categories. I hope that helps ☺️

New follower with a question…You put $10 in your Target envelope and you said for you it’s usually clothes for the kids. So why doesn’t it come out of the kid’s clothes budget? Your videos are awesome!
I un-stuff and stuff my wallet once a week (because I don’t like carrying a ton of cash on me)! I cash stuff my sinking funds once a month and pull from those to stuff my wallet each week! I have a video of my November cash stuffing if that helps :) My husband and I are both self-employed, and pay our selves once a month. If you’re someone who’s paid every two weeks, I would do your cash stuffing in your sinking funds every two weeks, etc. The amount of of times and the amount of money you choose to stuff in your wallet is going to just depend on your lifestyle!

I love love love this! I do have a quick question. When you decide how much your going to budget for each category; do you stuff that same amount each time or does the amount change?? Keep up the good work! ❤
I always recommend doing a budget for each paycheck! Our situation is a little complicated because my husband and I are self-employed and technically pay ourselves once a month, but I cash stuff weekly. I do our budget once a month and then divide each category by four and stuff that amount each week. I technically only need to cash stuff once a month, but doing it weekly keeps it in my face and holds me accountable to make sure we stay on track! I found that if I don’t cash stuff weekly, I get sloppy. All that to say, the amount that you cash stuff will just depend on how often you get paid, what expenses you have coming up, and what your current goals are! It could stay the same, or it could change, and that’s completely up to you! I hope this helps!
Watching from the UK. Is this a U.S. thing? Looks very long winded and time consuming, plus, who handles cash like this these days??🤔 I barely use any cash at all any more.
Its rare. Its kind of a reset for ppl who need to see where their money is going bc they are in debt. I'm confused by this one because it usually includes house hold expenses too.
@@matemahe Good point! Most people who cash stuff their bills are typically a month ahead with them. We are not because all of our extra money is going towards paying off debt so our bills get drafted from our bank account 🤍 Once we are debt free, we will save 6 months of expenses and do that by cash stuffing those categories. Hopefully that helps clear it up! ☺️

I un-stuff and stuff my wallet once a week (because I don’t like carrying a ton of cash on me)!
I cash stuff my sinking funds once a month and pull from those to stuff my wallet each week! I have a video of my November cash stuffing if that helps :)
My husband and I are both self-employed, and pay our selves once a month. If you’re someone who’s paid every two weeks, I would do your cash stuffing in your sinking funds every two weeks, etc.
The amount of of times and the amount of money you choose to stuff in your wallet is going to just depend on your lifestyle!

@@theaestheticdollar 😂😂okay. I only watched this video recently, have not heard of cash stuffing before. Can't really do it in South Africa because of bank charges for withdrawals and deposits. But my banking app does have a budgeting feature. It's just really fun to watch these videos

I do have a quick question. When you decide how much your going to budget for each category; do you stuff that same amount each time or does the amount change??

I always recommend doing a budget for each paycheck!
Our situation is a little complicated because my husband and I are self-employed and technically pay ourselves once a month, but I cash stuff weekly. I do our budget once a month and then divide each category by four and stuff that amount each week.
I technically only need to cash stuff once a month, but doing it weekly keeps it in my face and holds me accountable to make sure we stay on track! I found that if I don’t cash stuff weekly, I get sloppy.
All that to say, the amount that you cash stuff will just depend on how often you get paid, what expenses you have coming up, and what your current goals are! It could stay the same, or it could change, and that’s completely up to you!

Watching from the UK. Is this a U.S. thing? Looks very long winded and time consuming, plus, who handles cash like this these days??🤔 I barely use any cash at all any more.

Its rare. Its kind of a reset for ppl who need to see where their money is going bc they are in debt. I'm confused by this one because it usually includes house hold expenses too.
@@matemahe Good point! Most people who cash stuff their bills are typically a month ahead with them. We are not because all of our extra money is going towards paying off debt so our bills get drafted from our bank account 🤍
Once we are debt free, we will save 6 months of expenses and do that by cash stuffing those categories. Hopefully that helps clear it up! ☺️
