Maybe GTA V didn't have a serious story, nor so much realism, but GTA IV, its essence of being a serious and realistic story as well as the level of detail, was transferred to other Rockstar titles, such as Max Payne 3, L.A. Noire, as well as Red Dead Redemption.
I wonder how much influence GTA IV had to have, to transfer it to Red Dead Redemption, instead of continuing it with GTA V.
I suppose that GTA V was always a satire, the realism or life lessons are not so much on par, but rather the comedy, unlike Red Dead Redemption, since in GTA IV, at least you can say that revenge or greed only breaks the person more than they already are. Not like in GTA V, which beyond teaching seeks to make us enjoy the show.
