Late response and I realize it was a joke but Booker and Elizabeth have that conversation pretty soon into the game. He shows her that they'll never escape the city without killing the people in their way, and she agrees.
When I finished this game, there was a lapse of about 4 days were I couldn't think of anything else, much else play something else. Manuelman I completely agree. It opened my mind up to some higher level thinking. Additionally, I started thinking a lot harder about the choices I made in m life and the things I say.
It been 6 years guys, the story and this music still stuck in my head 😟 * November 16,2021 oh god 😥 * i heard that there is a sequel called Bioshock Isolation 😳😳 * 2023. Nope not Bioshock Isolation, we got Judas
The way Elizabeth's voice cracks at the end just kills me. The pause of the guitar also just accentuates it and bleh it's amazing in the context of the game ;_;
Yeah, that cracking voice makes this song complete. It actually sounds like she is crying herself while she sung this, which adds so much more depth to both the game and the song.
Where did you read that? Makes a lot of sense, always wondered why she sounds like she's crying a little at the end. Really adds to the song and the meaning.
@@godfist314 being afraid of god is sometimes being afraid of facing the consequences of your actions(being sent to hell for all eternity would be so far beyond certain in Booker's case) but instead of being afraid of that Booker is afraid of Elizabeth and all she can do

Elizabeth is one of the best female characters on any game I've played. She's a brilliant young woman, which makes it even sadder that she'll never exist as Elizabeth. Anna will have a completely different personality to Elizabeth. The girl we've come to know will never be.
kinda not true since because of her powers, she knows all the possible timelines and all the possible outcomes of her lives, she is not bound to one timeline and will therefor remember everything that has happened with booker. did u not finish the game?
When I was about 17, my best friend and I finished the entire game in one night, staying up until about 6 in the morning, feeding on nothing but Doritos and Coca Cola. We were so mesmerised by every aspect of the game. We were so mind blown by the story. It was a really fun night. This was years ago. Eventually life happened, I moved to a different continent, and we slowly lost touch. Then some weeks ago I get a message from a mutual acquaintance, saying that he died. He was my first friend. For some time he was my only friend. Now he's nothing at all... I am full on ugly crying after listening to this song.
If he were truly gone you wouldn't be crying at all. He is kept alive through your memories, this memory particularly, which is rather beautiful, I wish I could have experienced this game with someone like that. Smile because it happened, not because its over, my friend. I hope you find peace in your mind and heart.
I feel the same sometimes because I don’t believe in any sort of heaven. But energy is never lost. Instead it transforms. Your friend is still a part of the universe at the very least
I grew up hearing the original version in my church. It was so chilling and nice to hear it in a video game that was soooo beautifully done. And her voice is so flawless.
The Bioshock cover is of the complete original lyrics to the 1907 "Will the Circle Be Unbroken." This hymn version of the song is rarely covered by artists because most prefer the Carter Family version or the Johnny Cash versions which don't question an afterlife while the hymn is actually questioning the existence of an afterlife. The original version which Bioshock covers asks the listener "Is a better home awaiting...?" Which is highly unusual for a hymn as while it earnestly pays homage to the beauty of a Christian life, it fully admits the uncertainty of the end results in that "undiscovered country from whose bourn No traveler returns (Shakespeare)." The later versions say "There IS a better home awaiting..."
Never played Bioshock, but that picture is impressive. They're both falling, nothing can stop their fall but he is still trying to get to her and save her, somehow.
reminded me of something Bryan Cranston said about how it is more impactful not when an actor cries, but when he or she tries to hold back his/hers tears
The voice actress for Elizabeth was a method actress and would really get into character. Before recording lines where she needed to cry, she would have someone scream terrible things to her so she would cry for real
This game is more than just a game, like other's said and are saying, it can change one's perspective about life. First time I played it, I played for 14 hours straight and finished it all from start to finish, got up on that morning, and I had no idea what I was about to experience. so yeah I played it all in one sitting till night. It already effected me. But the next morning is where it hit me in such deep places that no story/film/game has ever hit me before. And that was after I finished Burial At Sea Episode 1 and 2... Ofcourse Burial at Sea would have been NOTHING without playing Bioshock infinite itself. This game broke me and my heart. I was depressed for 3 weeks and couldn't properly play any other game. Also I couldn't watch any films because I've experienced something well better than any movie could do. after those 3 weeks I was still a bit depressed, but atleast I could continue on with my ordinary life. I still was thinking and remembering this game from time to time. and after 3 months I finished it the first time... I went ahead and played it again. It still hit me in the feel's even after playing it once. And I was depressed for a week after playing this game the second time. I don't think I'll want to play it the third time, it may ruin me... This game is BRILLIANT! Thanks to whoever actually read all of this.
I finished it in two days and was AMAZED!! Easily one of the best games I have ever played! I only had about two weeks of depression but in those weeks I could barely think straight, let alone play another game. I am finally getting over it but I still think about it 10-15 times a day. I think what really did the game for me was Elizabeth. I was nearly brought to tears so many times because of her and it takes so much to bring me to tears. Only other games that have were The Last Of Us and Telltales The Walking Dead.
I finished it in 1 day, and despite I really hated the ending the first time i played it, later, when played again more slowly, I finally notice the power of the great story it represents....
You can hear Elizabeth's heart break as Courtnee sings the final verse because she knows that things will never end well for her family. So tragic. So sad. So beautiful.
Cool. SPOILERS BELOW: Elizabeth's heart is breaking because she can see all possible timelines and knows that, no matter what happens, her father (Booker) will never be happy. They will never have a safe and happy life together, father and daughter, because their story is always fated to end in tragedy. By the time the credits roll, the Booker we have followed is dead -- presumably resetting the timeline to a point where Elizabeth never existed. But because of her newfound abilities -- or perhaps merely in a different reality -- you can hypothesize that at least one version of her has managed to keep existing. (A small spoiler: it's one such version of Elizabeth you see in Burial At Sea.) And that version is distraught because she and Booker can never live happily ever after, as father and daughter or in any other capacity. TL;DR: Elizabeth is sad because the story of Booker and Elizabeth will always end in tragedy. And it breaks my heart.
I just finished like two hours ago and the ending... as majority hit me hard, really teared me down and I don’t know if I’m going to be the same person after this game, I’m not saying it in a bad way, I think this game shows us that there’s a possibility of other world where thing that we even think about are happening, something bigger than you and that is good I believe. The ending is really heartbreaking, I can’t remember when I experienced this feeling last time, this feeling that only a great piece of art, a masterpiece, can give you. I feel like in a bottle now, with only my eyes outside, I don’t know if I’ll get satisfied by another game ever. This game could change your life. For me, there’s a before and after Bioshock Infinite. Certainly it’s a shock It’s 2020 and I don’t know if anyone else will read this or even listen to this music. But as an art admirer, this game really makes me think why video games should be art. There’s nothing compared to Bioshock Infinite.
I feel you, i finished the trilogy like a year ago and it had me shocked, every one of them, it actually made me appreciate stories in games in a different way, i can tell you, my Bioshock memories mean that much to me that i haven't touched the game again since i finished it cause i don't wanna have like 2 different memories of the game in my head, i wanna keep the ones i already have. Definitely a fantastic saga.
This game changed me a lot dude. Bioshock is underrated masterpiece. I've finished the game like 2 3 years ago and everytime i think about Elizabeth i still cry like a child. This game needs to be played generations after generations.

My dad and my brother and I all loved bonding over this game. My brother passed away on March 20th and listening to this breaks my heart knowing our circle is broken
Your circle isn't broken. It's right there in the lyrics: There are loved ones in the glory, Whose dear forms you often miss; When you close your earthly story, Will you join them in their bliss? They're just waiting for you to join them in their bliss, after your earthly story ends.
RIGHT before recording this she heard word that her grandad died of dementia, yet she recorded anyways, and you can really hear it in her voice, especially towards the end, you can hear where she just spoke the line and was crying. All aboard the bus for the feel trip
This and The Last of Us (part 1) are the pinnacle of video game storytelling imo. Our woke society may never allow stories like this to be told again. It truly was the golden age of video game writing.
It's funny how if you listen closely to the lyrics you can see how many lines in the song can be directly related to something which happens in the game itself.
The game has so many layers it's unreal. Even during the raffle when they're all singing Goodnight, Irene there are lines that foreshadow the plot. Sometimes I live in the country Sometimes I live in town Sometimes I get a great notion (To jump in the river and drown.) And also this these lines: (Stop your rambling) (Stop your gambling) (Go home to your wife and family) And sit by the fireside bright.
My grandmother heard me listening to this song a few years back and sang along with it. Apparently, she sang it as a little girl at nearly every Lutheran church service she attended. We lost her last November to COVID-19, and this gives me flashbacks of her. I miss her dearly.
It's a hymn written in 1907, it means plenty. It is also possible Olypheus was using the 1930s Carter family version at the funeral which is actually about losing your mother. How is that an oximoron?
Nick Costa - I'd bet money you didn't understand the story whatsoever if you think this song doesn't fit perfectly. It's fucking eerie how well this fits. It could've been written for it. Also, the pendants do have meaning. They just don't affect anything major in your playthrough.
WWEBatman The games them selves don't' paint a romantic picture of the idea either. It is the background for a horror story. some people just miss the point.
My 55 year old mother died from complications of early onset Alzheimers disease last summer. I just finished playing through this game for the first time, and hearing this song wrecked me. She was like Elizabeth in many ways; an adamant reader, creative, always willing to try new things. I miss that woman a lot, and I hope my kids one day reflect her character. She is sorely missed, but I know I'll see her again one day. Great game and a great soundtrack!
well..actually when booker died, the circle is broken, before its a circle of accept/non accept bapstim -> become comstock/booker -> steal his own kid from other universe/regret - die before bapstim = no more circle :D
not fully, in the end the other elizabeths were vanishin and the piano keys were playing for each one and when the last one came the screen went black and wrong tune was played some of it got fixed but not all
JosephKnezovicz That Elizabeth is gone too, the piano keys were synced with Elizabeth's disappearing, all Elizabeth's are gone except for our Elizabeth whose fate was explored in Burial at Sea.
i think at that time all elizabeth is disapear, the burial at sea is happening the same time with infinite, but THAT comstock failed to steal the kid (cut the head off), so him move to rapture and become detective (in rapture world)
Lives, lived, will live; dies, died, will die; cries, cried, will cry. The mind of the subject will desperately struggle to erase feels wherever they occur.
For anyone upset they hadn’t got enough time to properly spend time together as family, the thing is the entire journey _was_ precisely that, but that they hadn’t realised it What’s really sad is Booker didn’t struggle or fight back while he drowned as he was ready to die. And it wasn’t just because Comstock had to die, but because Dewitt had finally succeeded in bringing her back and was already content with the moments they had in their shared journey together as family even if they didn’t know it
The gameplay is a bit weak in some areas, but hands down the story of Bioshock Infinite is the best of any game I've had the pleasure to play. I finished the game two days ago and I'm still trying to process how amazing it is.
Even after three years, my mind always trails back to Bioshock Infinite. There was no game or movie that moved me more than this masterpiece. The way how I envision things in life has been changed drastically by this game. Every aspect of my imagination is one way or another connected to Bioshock Infinite. For example, reading 1984 by George Orwell was impossible to read without picturing Airstrip One as a quasi Columbia. I thank the creators of Bioshock for doing this to me. This game has changed me in more ways than I can imagine.

Elizabeth lived in a tower for 20 years. She was a hopeful girl who kept dreaming about outside world and adventures waiting for her. As she learned about herself and her responsibilities, the joy in her faded away. Booker sold his daughter in a moment of despair. He sat in his room with regret and sorrow for 20 years. As he crosses between realities, his memories faded away. His daughter was right in front of his eyes and he couldn't even see. He couln't have a moment with his daughter while he had chance. As his memories starts to coming back he needed to die for able to kill the guy who seperate Booker and his daughter, which was himself.
my dad has epilepsy too and honestly it makes me feel so bad because there is nothing i can do when he is having a seizure and the fact i was told that he won't be able to wake up from the seizure one day kills me everytime. sorry i just had to let it out..
weiner shnitzel it was too ambitious 🙂 but we can always imagine what it could have been 😎👌 in just happy we even got this masterpiece in the first place
It's a shame that games like The Last of Us and Bioshock aren't the way all games are made. As I get older these are the only experiences that stand out to me and stay with me long after I've put the controller or mouse down.
The way she delivers the song at the end, where it's almost like plain talking rather than singing, but her voice breaking down is so extremely powerful that i tear up...
Not so fun fact. The singer found out her grandfather dies shortly before recording this, you can her her voice cracking with emotion the entire time and it makes this so much more hard to hear
Damn this game Marked Me. This is not a Game this is a Experience. Pure Art. After finishing the game I was affected for several days I love this game so much!
The greatest most beautiful and surreal beginning in history with the choir version of this song paired with the utter beauty of the sewer, along with the ending scenes pegged this game as a masterpiece, and that's all you need to understand how lifechanging an experience it was.
I swear to god, this was the very first game i enjoyed and didnt get any spoilers, i finished it and its DLC and i cannot be more thanfull for having experienced such a great story
I recently went to my grandmothers funeral where they played the bluegrass version to this, which was one of her favorite songs, during the service. Being a huge fan of bio shock, I showed this version to my family and no one, my self included, had dry eyes. I don’t think I can listen to this song without crying anymore; and strangely, that’s okay. One of my regrets was not being able to show her this emotional masterpiece. Thank you, game devs, for making such an amazing version to this song available.
Man, the feels when the credits began to roll, and especially when this song started playing. I teared up when I heard the choral version near the beginning. I full-on bawled when this arrangement came on during the credits after such an incredible journey, and after learning its hidden meaning. Thank you, Ken Levine and Irrational Games. This trilogy is a masterpiece.

Rodger Ebert did admit in one of his later blogs that his opinion was made out of ignorance of the medium. His love was cinema and he never wished to spend much time outside of it. I'm sure he would have loved the story Bioshock infinite told, but I can also assure you that the ultra violent gameplay used to makes its point would have turned him off on a very base level. The Funny thing is that Bioshock is a game that is one of the very few that would make a perfect cinematic adaptation.
***** I don't think the violence would have turned him off, the fact that Infinite is a video game would have. He did love Martin Scorsese's movies like Goodfellas, violence didn't bother him. Video games weren't his thing and that's understandable. But I'm sure he would have loved the story of the game.
***** I don't see why people say the violence detracts from the gist of the game. I think it's interesting how Elizabeth is stuck in the middle of a cruel, vicious world, and how she responds to it. It's a great juxtaposition - by putting them next to each other, it makes Columbia seem even crueler and Liz even more innocent. Up till she kills Fitzroy, of course.
I literally just beat this game about a half hour ago. I don't even know what to think... I understand the ending completely. I just cannot even explain the feels! I beat the first two Bioshock games. and I can honestly say that I never thought that they would ever take such a serious turn. Bravo.
+gavalon01 yeah I have agree with on that one. First time was too me kind the random and I laugh. But the more I keep replaying this perfect game. I just stop laughing and getting one of those relaxing moment before getting back into the story.
+gavalon01 after reading your comment it made me remember a recent game that I have been playing recently is KINGDOM HEARTS 2.5 Final Mix on proud mode. The world I'm referring is dumbass Little Mermaid rhythm world. Yeah let's start singing and dancing while the Nobody's and Heartless taking over the worlds. And NO KINGDOM HEARTS IS NO WHERE NEAR A PERFECT STORY THEN BIOSHOCK: INFINITE.
We played this song at my wedding Six years ago when we were in signing the registry book. Emailed the company for permission which they freely gave. Feels good man.
Wow. This game. It’s like falling in love. After a while you can only think of this game. And then years later you’re reminded of it and the good memories it gave you. I love this game.
After all these years I still cry for Booker and Elizabeth cause they deserved better and the sad thing about this as well is that they never made it to Paris...In the end both Booker and Elizabeth sacrificed themselves to break the cycle. It's such a beautiful tragic story and I can't help but love it, Elizabeth was such a well written character and I couldn't help but fall in love with her and Booker was amazingly written as well. The voice actors of these two did an outstanding job and honestly made Booker and Elizabeth come to life. This game breaks my heart but I just love it for how well written it was..
Yes, but maybe there is the world, where is no Comstock, Columbia, and Elizabeth. Somewhere far away There are just Booker David and Anna David, which spend their times together, as dad and daughter
Did anybody else assume that "AD" means Anna Dewitt? It seems to make sense. The time screwed-uppiness wasn't apparent to Booker, but upon revisiting the past, he carved her initials into his hand to not forget her. Though he does again, the paradox circles back, and he finds Anna again. This is just a theory, but if this is what the makers intended for us to assume then this is very tragic, but at the same time inspiring.
Today 4/4/23 my papaw was called home to his Heavenly Father. I miss him so much. This song was the only one that currently comes to my mind. I love you papaw, always.
@@zsomborbudai7473 yeah games around 2000-2015 had great stories, then after that they became copy and paste only in it for the money such as CoD and Halo now 😐. Only a few games exist for fun (in a good way), but I haven't played a game with good story that's made around 2020
You think that Ken would've killed Elizabeth off if he thought that the company would be sticking around? Personally, I think that Ken couldn't stand the thought of anyone else having rights to the character he created and described as his "daughter". Now what's the best way to ensure that no other company can use your character? Kill them off. That's just what I think though.
End me i’d heard that he got *really* into this game’s production, but the way you say that changes the whole game. this man put so much into it, and people everywhere got so much out of it.
That's why this game is brilliant. Booker and Elizabeth never got the ending they wanted, never went to Paris to live carefree. But for that moment in the dingy basement of a rundown bar, giving the orange to that child and making a little music...they were happy.
Just finished this game a couple of days ago, and I honestly didn't want it to end. I don't think I have ever been so swept away in such a unique way. From the very beginning in the chapel, this game was utterly captivating and truly magical.
I remember listening to this song over and over in a time where I was so sad. Thinking life wouldn't get better at all. Life did get better and now this song makes me nostaglic, hopeful, and proud. it gets better.
Played it when it dropped and just finished my second playthrough ten minutes ago. Younger me did not appreciate the story that was being told, I sort of just played the game. Not this time. This time, it rocked my soul to the core. 🤘
i am so lucky for going through this game 100% blindly. just one day im strolling around the mall and pass a small game store, seeing Elizabeth on the cover by the window and i thought "she's beautiful".. and i bought it. and... my heart is shattered for weeks
I’m 40 now and I bought this the day it dropped and I still remember all heartfelt moments from the masterpiece. Too bad games are not made this way anymore
Always a lighthouse,
Always a man,
Always a city.
Always murder
Always a plot twist
Always hard decisions
Constants and variables
Every variable is constant
Every constant is variable
Everything depends on where and what you look at
gay for man
lesbian for woman
Always a theme of you not being in control
Always magic power juice
Always a missing family
I really envy the other universes where Irrational Games stayed together and continued the BioShock series.
Also there's a universe where Valve releases Half-Life 3 -_-
Ranveer Aggarwal And in that universe, the 4th sequel hasn't been released for years ;-;
StrangeBoy and in that universe HL3 screws up sooo bad that no one wants a 4th sequel! Muahahahaha
Ranveer Aggarwal And there's a universe where Bioshock will always be better than Half-Life
AlexBean i happen to live in that universe
I still wish Elizabeth and Booker could have gone to Paris..
dont we all :'(
Yeah when all other version of comstock died, we got to see booker still have Anna with him
I often think back to the whole "constants and variables" thing, and somehow doubt that never reaching Paris is a variable.
Imma cry 😭
elizabeth reaches paris, but never booker.
The fact that Booker's voice actor played the guitar in this recording makes this so much better.
You mean Troy Baker
That is no voice actor, that is Troy Baker.
So, the same guy who plays guitar as Joel in The Last of Us!
I mean, dont we all love troy baker
@nikolai 1939 wtf lol
Elizabeth: "I don't want you killing people, Booker! That's horrible!"
Also Elizabeth: *spends entire game throwing you ammo*
xD
Late response and I realize it was a joke but Booker and Elizabeth have that conversation pretty soon into the game. He shows her that they'll never escape the city without killing the people in their way, and she agrees.
Don't forget she throws you a *bloody sniper rifle* at one point
SilverFlame that’s me through out the entire game🤣🤣
Fuck logic
When I finished this game, there was a lapse of about 4 days were I couldn't think of anything else, much else play something else. This has only happened to me a handful of times, not with gaming but with any kind of art, being it film, music or whatever. For this, Bioshock infinite will always be, for me, one of the pieces of art that changed me.
For me, a week of no sleep whatsoever and endless feels.

One of the most beautiful videogames ever made
Me and you both.
I played this game the same time my daughter was an infant so i wont forget this game. I dont even play first person games.
It’s unreal how much emotion it will create when you finish a game like this and then listen to the song at 2 in the morning
Me, doing exactly this now.
WOW i just finished the game and its 2 am
Yeah, doing that now
Add me to that list of playing it again for the 10th time
agreed, because it's 2:08 AM as I type this today.

Yeah, that cracking voice makes this song complete. It actually sounds like she is crying herself while she sung this, which adds so much more depth to both the game and the song.
+Creator13 The voice actress of Elizabeth lost her grandfather some time before recording this. That's why you can hear her almost cry out.
Where did you read that? Makes a lot of sense, always wondered why she sounds like she's crying a little at the end. Really adds to the song and the meaning.
@@fabledorchid8410absolutely true. Thank you. Sorry for her loss. But it really does make this song have more weight.
Bioshocks developers turn the knife at the end of the game for me

When you close your earthly story,
Will you join them in their bliss?
Chorus:
Will the circle be unbroken

Now they dwell with Him above.

And one by one they went away;

He will never be nothing so long as you hold his memory close.
Your friend is still a part of the universe at the very least
you keep the circle unbroken. stay happy and live =).

I grew up hearing the original version in my church. It was so chilling and nice to hear it in a video game that was soooo beautifully done. And her voice is so flawless.
+Kitogic same
what do you mean "original song''?
Harold Tan the original is called "amazing Grace"
Harold Tan "Will the Circle Be Unbroken?" was written in 1907.
The original version which Bioshock covers asks the listener "Is a better home awaiting...?" Which is highly unusual for a hymn as while it earnestly pays homage to the beauty of a Christian life, it fully admits the uncertainty of the end results in that "undiscovered country from whose bourn
No traveler returns (Shakespeare)."
The later versions say "There IS a better home awaiting..."

What kind of blasphemy is this!
Near the end, when the music stops and it sounds like Elizabeth is fighting not to cry through the lyrics, it just breaks me.
reminded me of something Bryan Cranston said about how it is more impactful not when an actor cries, but when he or she tries to hold back his/hers tears
Right?
Literally the best part of the music
The voice actress for Elizabeth was a method actress and would really get into character. Before recording lines where she needed to cry, she would have someone scream terrible things to her so she would cry for real
Her grandpa had just passed away a couple days before the recording... I guess it struck something personal. :(
This game is more than just a game, like other's said and are saying, it can change one's perspective about life.
After finishing the game it took me like a month to play anything else cuz NOTHING matched up to depth and amazingness of this game
Joseph Younger "The Walking Dead", "Bioshock" and "Beyond: Two Souls" is the best of creation.
Vasiliy Usachev Haven't played Beyond Two Souls yet. Is it really worth it?
You can hear Elizabeth's heart break as Courtnee sings the final verse because she knows that things will never end well for her family. So tragic. So sad. So beautiful.
what? why?
Alex Duper That, my friend, would be spoilers -- unless you've played through Infinite. Then we can talk. ;)
Yeah the only thing i haven't played is Burial At The Sea, but i already finished Bioshock Infinite.
Cool. SPOILERS BELOW:
Elizabeth's heart is breaking because she can see all possible timelines and knows that, no matter what happens, her father (Booker) will never be happy.
Loading Checkpoint lol, nope. have you read Bioshock wiki?
After playing Burial at Sea..this song hurts a million times more.
I know right, the pain in my heart will not heal
I know Fountain is such discusting cocksucking pieace of shit

A relief is that it allowed the good ending of bioshock 1
It's 2020 and I'm still salty about Elizabeth just walking to her death like that.
Certainly it’s a shock
It’s 2020 and I don’t know if anyone else will read this or even listen to this music.
You should play the original bioshock and burial at sea if you want the whole story

They really wrote some insanely beautiful lyrics for Elizabeth.😍
It's an old song.
This song was written in 1908
*_This game is, and forever will be a masterpiece. It's just so fantastic!_*
11 years later, it's still an impeccable masterpiece display of art and one I wish I could relive for the first time over again...
Still wish I could get this in streaming
My dad and my brother and I all loved bonding over this game. My brother passed away on March 20th and listening to this breaks my heart knowing our circle is broken
It isn’t ❤
My brother, your circle may be smaller, but never broken. All my love to you and your family.
My brother introduced me to this game tbh he's also gone now so I understand your pain brother belive me
Your circle isn't broken. It's right there in the lyrics:
There are loved ones in the glory,
Whose dear forms you often miss;
When you close your earthly story,
Will you join them in their bliss?
They're just waiting for you to join them in their bliss, after your earthly story ends.
NEver Broken, my friend! He is in the heaven and all us will be there too, soon. And there will be a great party!!

After almost a decade, I'm still thinking about this game regularly. What a masterpiece of storytelling. Right, see you in 10 years, lol.

It's funny how if you listen closely to the lyrics you can see how many lines in the song can be directly related to something which happens in the game itself.
The game has so many layers it's unreal. Even during the raffle when they're all singing Goodnight, Irene there are lines that foreshadow the plot.
Sometimes I live in the country
Sometimes I live in town
Sometimes I get a great notion
(To jump in the river and drown.)
And also this these lines:
(Stop your rambling)
(Stop your gambling)
(Go home to your wife and family)
And sit by the fireside bright.
My grandmother heard me listening to this song a few years back and sang along with it. Apparently, she sang it as a little girl at nearly every Lutheran church service she attended.
We lost her last November to COVID-19, and this gives me flashbacks of her. I miss her dearly.
Hope you're better now. It know how it feels
And now she's with our Savior above. Just like the song says.
Its been eight years since I finished this game and this song still makes me ugly cry
I'll be honest, I can't bring myself to play it again. It's too emotionally draining. Words cannot describe how exceptional this game is.
played this song at my moms funeral. miss that lady.
Nice choice mate. I'm sure she misses you too.
Even tho this song is a oximoron lik the bird and the cage and means nothing
It's a hymn written in 1907, it means plenty.
It is also possible Olypheus was using the 1930s Carter family version at the funeral which is actually about losing your mother. How is that an oximoron?
i see it the way of mine
Nick Costa - I'd bet money you didn't understand the story whatsoever if you think this song doesn't fit perfectly. It's fucking eerie how well this fits. It could've been written for it. Also, the pendants do have meaning. They just don't affect anything major in your playthrough.

Burial at sea.

WWEBatman The games them selves don't' paint a romantic picture of the idea either. It is the background for a horror story. some people just miss the point.
And then get drowned by her after you save her.
Great game and a great soundtrack!
sorry for your loss praying for your family
I'm afraid to feel that in the future, it saddens me fully
I am truly sorry for your loss. I know what that feels like and I'm here if you need to pray
F
stay strong my friend, you will always remember the best days of hers, and days she spend with you.
i guess the circle will never be broken, poor booker
well..actually when booker died, the circle is broken, before its a circle of accept/non accept bapstim -> become comstock/booker -> steal his own kid from other universe/regret - die before bapstim = no more circle :D
not fully, in the end the other elizabeths were vanishin and the piano keys were playing for each one and when the last one came the screen went black and wrong tune was played
some of it got fixed but not all
JosephKnezovicz That Elizabeth is gone too, the piano keys were synced with Elizabeth's disappearing, all Elizabeth's are gone except for our Elizabeth whose fate was explored in Burial at Sea.
i think at that time all elizabeth is disapear, the burial at sea is happening the same time with infinite, but THAT comstock failed to steal the kid (cut the head off), so him move to rapture and become detective (in rapture world)
And about the old Elizabeth? In that world Comstock succeeded.

Lives, lived, will live; dies, died, will die; cries, cried, will cry. The mind of the subject will desperately struggle to erase feels wherever they occur.
For anyone upset they hadn’t got enough time to properly spend time together as family, the thing is the entire journey _was_ precisely that, but that they hadn’t realised it
What’s really sad is Booker didn’t struggle or fight back while he drowned as he was ready to die. And it wasn’t just because Comstock had to die, but because Dewitt had finally succeeded in bringing her back and was already content with the moments they had in their shared journey together as family even if they didn’t know it

Do you love the hymns they taught you,
Or are songs of earth your choice?
[Chorus]
Will the circle be unbroken
By and by, by and by?
Is a better home awaiting
In the sky, in the sky?
[Verse 4]
You can picture happy gath'rings
Round the fireside long ago,
And you think of tearful partings
When they left you here below.
[Chorus]
Will the circle be unbroken
By and by, by and by?
Is a better home awaiting
In the sky, in the sky?
[Verse 5]
One by one their seats were emptied.
One by one they went away.
Now the family is parted.
Will it be complete one day?
[Chorus]
Will the circle be unbroken
By and by, by and by?
Is a better home awaiting
In the sky, in the sky?
First time a heard this, it did make me cry and still do. So fcking beautiful.
I loved this game, I’ve played it over and over… This song gives me chills every single time…. Thanks for the post.
Try System Shock, then.. then Bioshock... :)
If only Roger Ebert lived to see Bioshock Infinite....I think he would take back his opinion that video games can't be an artform.
***** Yes. Ken Levine better write it, too.
TheRinzl2r And they had better keep J.J.Abrams out of the director's chair.
"He's Zachary Comstock."
"He's Booker Dewitt!"
"No... _I'm both."_
booker catch!
Much obliged.
Catch these feels.
Booker, catch....
...THESE HANDS!
Huh...
The way her voice breaks a little gets me every time. You can hear the sadness in her voice. And i feel her grief
Bioshock Infinite, a memorable mindfuck with an amazing soundtrack. This scene has always stayed with me.
I literally just beat this game about a half hour ago. I don't even know what to think... I understand the ending completely. I just cannot even explain the feels!
I beat the first two Bioshock games. and I can honestly say that I never thought that they would ever take such a serious turn. Bravo.
play the Burial at Sea its awesome :D
JRQ00 It's a big why for me. I want the part 2 to understand it fully :D
Djdady88 There's several videos on YT explaining the ending in detail so you can understand it. I had trouble understanding it, too, at first.
I'm the only one who was laughing when Booker DeWitt grabs the guitar and Elizabeth start singing while there other shit was going on?
Yep
+gavalon01 yeah I have agree with on that one. First time was too me kind the random and I laugh. But the more I keep replaying this perfect game. I just stop laughing and getting one of those relaxing moment before getting back into the story.
+gavalon01 after reading your comment it made me remember a recent game that I have been playing recently is KINGDOM HEARTS 2.5 Final Mix on proud mode. The world I'm referring is dumbass Little Mermaid rhythm world. Yeah let's start singing and dancing while the Nobody's and Heartless taking over the worlds. And NO KINGDOM HEARTS IS NO WHERE NEAR A PERFECT STORY THEN BIOSHOCK: INFINITE.
infinate
We played this song at my wedding Six years ago when we were in signing the registry book. Emailed the company for permission which they freely gave.
Feels good man.
Bioshock infinite is a masterpiece.
Wow. This game. It’s like falling in love. After a while you can only think of this game. And then years later you’re reminded of it and the good memories it gave you. I love this game.
And i am currently excited for bioschock 4
After played the guitar so sound also comes "Booker Catch!"
Somewhere far away
There are just Booker David and Anna David, which spend their times together, as dad and daughter
"Now the family is parted
Will it be complete one day?"
O U C H
it does mean Anna DeWitt,it says it in the game
ramie du couteau apparently the 30 hours I spent involved in the story line wasn't enough...
You cant spend enough time involved in a good game
ramie du couteau ikr
Today 4/4/23 my papaw was called home to his Heavenly Father. I miss him so much. This song was the only one that currently comes to my mind.
I love you papaw, always.
Much love
Rest in the Glory of God
Games in 90's: we entertain and give you a joy
Games now: we emotionally cripple you and give a depression
**Throws slippers on the ground**
EMOTIONAL DAMAGE!
You mean games 10 years ago right?
Tell me a game in the past 5 years that have this much emotional impact than this one.
@@zsomborbudai7473 yeah games around 2000-2015 had great stories, then after that they became copy and paste only in it for the money such as CoD and Halo now 😐. Only a few games exist for fun (in a good way), but I haven't played a game with good story that's made around 2020
@@zsomborbudai7473 Sorry for the long time response, but Nier Automata is a masterclass in emotional damage and existential dread.
@@zsomborbudai7473 GOW Ragnarok
is it really already 5 years ago??
how time flies...
5 years yes . the time is to fast
i Would Agree, How Such a Masterpiece of Music and Game is... Forgotten.
But I still crying
This song, for real. It feels like I lost a daughter.
(Flashback for Elizabeths moments)
Brilliant game, still hurts that Ken Levine closed Irrational down and wont be heading Bioshock games anymore
wat 😭😭😭
What? Are u serious?!?
Reegan Olsen was the best Bioshock anyway!😳
This game gives the feeling of melancholy and there really isn't any other game that has made me feel that way
Master of glitches I always play this game if I wanna be happy in a different way. It‘s a strange thing this game. A masterpiece
This game is an must have experience in your life, just like books, music and movies. You must play at least once.
Yes, she is...
I love this song it has so many memories
I’m 40 now and I bought this the day it dropped and I still remember all heartfelt moments from the masterpiece. Too bad games are not made this way anymore
This performance from Courtnee is so raw and its great. Still one of the best games I've ever played. Even now its 2024
