    Noticed quite a few of these scammers with no feedback selling ridiculously cheap cars and motor homes, photographed on different driveways. Also watch out for those who have feedback, but only as a buyer.

      So many of these scams on eBay currently, almost
      So many of these scams on eBay motors currently. Ebay, if your listening, you need to act fast because if you don’t I suspect that few people will trust your motor sales ever again. It is so blindingly obvious when cars are offered for sale at half their market value but you need to step up and protect your customers from this nonsense. Act now!

    Nice one Jim I go on the pretence of if the deal sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Well summed up. You don’t get a £19-21k car for £9k

    Hi I’ve had experience with this dodgy dealer and, when they send you the confirmation email they expect you to transfer the funds and then you get rinsed, but you don’t find out until 10 days later when your vehicle doesn’t arrive, in my case it was a VW Transporter fortunately I asked a few more questions about the van before the transaction was completed and they didn’t respond therefore I didn’t transfer the money, as you say it was a deal that was just too good to be true, glad you can get the message out there and avoid people getting ripped off, Thanks!

    Have noticed a large increase in Facebook and Ebay scams over the last few months I have even seen Ebay sellers with zero feedback using a reputable motor traders complete stock, ( with traders original photos) but at a far cheaper price than the main dealers site.
    The best thing i do is ask for a facetime or whatsapp video call to view the car , and get no response . (because they do not have the car to do the video call with ). so be very careful when buying

    One car listed with 5 sellers in Antrim NI and all over GB.
    All reported but never hear results.

    Absolutely 100% a great video. So, I was looking on Facebay (don't judge me) for a Toyota Camry, wanted to see how much they go for. Loads around £18,000 - £22,000 and then I saw one £8,995 and then another around £9,999 and so on and so on. The scammers have literally used the SAME photo and registration as one from Auto Trader. I literally contacted Facebook and Auto Trader to report the scams. I doubt they did anything, in fact I know they didn't because the same car has appeared again and again. If this happens to a Toyota Camry (not popular) how many popular cars are scams? As you say Jim, too good to be true? It almost definitely is. Get it from a reputable garage and, oh I don't know, drive the damn thing before you buy it. 😁

    Also worth sellers having a look online at image usage, had some back and forth with a seller as the vehicle was on a modification site but listed as standard. The mod site had 'stolen' the image from a previous sale ad. and it was standard in the end.

    We had court papers for a local business who sold 2nd hand (many hand?) older model 4x4s, advertised online, these cars allegedly "didn't meet user expectations", hence the court paperwork. The seller apparently bought MOT failure and scraped 4x4s. Seller had a place of business so it was strange that the vehicles would be dropped of at random locations for purchaser, not even at the buyers home address!!!!

    I have seen couple of ads in marketplace. When I enquired its the the same story. I tried to observe the trend . The user posting looks like Normal person with family pictures etc.. when I enquired one of the person about it. He said, some one told they can earn by posting ads on Facebook under their name. If sale happens then they will get 2-3% commission for it. Unless Facebook reigns on these people. There is no chance

    You can imagine a car been.a few grand cheaper for a quick sale but.not under half its value. For this reason alone I would never ever buy a car from eBay I've heard too many bad experiences. At 53 including cars I've bought for myself and wife I've bought at least 30 every car unless it's come from a friend every car I've got through Autotrader. Use to love Thursdays getting the new weekly copy.

    • @wileywilson
      @wileywilson ปีที่แล้ว

      We're the same age mate and I agree that any car that is half its value isn't worth considering; prob a Cat S or scam.
      However, the last 2 cars I've bought have both been from private sellers on Ebay. After physically inspecting them, I did a car history check and both had no warnings. The 1st, a Mini Cooper S, I had for 4 years, sold it a month ago. The 2nd, an Audi TT, also seems pretty good.
      Not everyone is a crook, but the scammers give everyone else a bad rep.

    Many people sell MOT failure cars to people for cash, seller stupidly hands over V5 as buyer said they will scrap the vehicle but then the seller starts to get lots of parking and bus lane letters in the post as they're still the Registered Keeper. The new owner gets a car they can park anywhere as no fines will ever come back to them. DVLA don't want to know and reluctant to take vehicle out of Registered Keeper's name. Police often come calling as other dodgy stuff comes up regarding the vehicle especially if it's a van and the van is believed to be involved in crime

    Looking for a car on e bay I found a cat s car at a good price and sent some questions; whilst waiting for a response I carried on searching and found another different model cat car at a good price but the settings for the images reminded me of the first one. The cars were listed by different sellers, one in the midlands the other in Yorkshire and yet they were both parked outside the same house in a country lane in identical settings. If I was the suspicious sort I might suspect that someone had used a traders earlier photos to perpetrate a scam. The guy did eventually respond with a curt reply to my questions but then the listing was pulled ( I suspect by e bay).

    parkers valuation is between £13000 to £15000 so unless its a cat car it is a very good price, but having checked the DVLA website the last V5 was issued on 23 June 2023, has tax and MOT from early june and is showing as insured on MID. on the plus side the transport company seems legit, but who will deliver the car

    • @DefinitelyNotAGuru
      @DefinitelyNotAGuru  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Transport company has very dodgy reviews, price is ludicrous (as our their other cars), phone number is unanswered, reverse image searches show these cars listed elsewhere with bona fide dealers at proper prices, photos are all over the place. Take the risk if you fancy it but I certainly wouldn’t.
