I really like the Milanese Mesh strap. It would definitely add a touch of class to a lot of watches. Great for dressing up a watch that has a dull strap.
I totally agree with you about changing straps on watches. Its the fastest and cheapest way to expand your collection options. I just did a video this week on changing from a bracelet to a NATO on my SARB017, how it totally changes the profile and look of a watch. Always enjoy your content, keep it up!
I agree that changing out straps is fun. I own a dive school and I am constantly going from rubber to something befitting the day. I must say that I would definitely not do business with Strapsco. You had a complaint or hesitation with almost every strap. Thanks for the warning.
I 100% agree. I own a black dial watch, and a blue dial watch. I own a black leather strap, a brown leather strap, a blue sailcloth strap, a blue alligator strap and the original metal strap that came with the black dial watch. So I'm covered. Each strap has it's own purpose. But I do still want one more strap, a gray stray of any sort. I'm leaning towards a canvas, but another sailcloth would be nice.
I'm one of the "oh no not NATO" people - my wrists are big enough without padding the watch. But elastic zulu staps (stretch webbing , militaire, Luff etc) are really comfortable. Especially on light weight watches - I wear Vostoks on cheap Ali elastics until the fraying gets too annoying. Lots of colour options, simple to adjust and cheap. I also love Barton elite rubber - black, blue, maybe one with contrast stitching. Great value and comfort, super tough. Most collections will benefit from a basic rally strap too. I have a 20mm but most of my watches are 22 - I keep meaning to get another but get distracted by "Ooh, shiny new watch" :-/ And mesh straps. Yes. Absolutely, although the fasteners can be fiddly. Bigger watches balance better with sharkmesh - Deep Blue's best product is their discount sharkmesh bracelet IMO. Question though - with all these 70s nostalgia watches being released, when will Speidel Twist-o-Flex come back in style? I loved mine when I was a kid, but I'm not sure how well they work with dive watches. Might just fall off. Still, they're cheap...
I’m pretty much a NATO on Everything Guy.My Pilot Watches have Leather because I think it’s more Authentic and I’ve literally just come around on the mesh. But yeah I Love NATOS on EVERYTHING.
Nice selection! I just bought a Spinnaker and they threw in a rubber tropic strap worth $50! It's really well made and the rubber is soft. Cheers mate...
I really like the Milanese. I’ve been looking at a lot of vintage divers and they came on one originally… Recently purchased one and I agree totally… It works on a lot of different watches!
I recently got the Sea-Gull I ordered during the 11.11 sale on AliExpress, and a milanese strap was included in the package as extra option to the leather one on the watch. My first experience with these, and I have to agree that it's one of the most comfortable straps you can wear.
Of course many watches come on 5 link or jubilee bracelets. A Sail clothe strap is another that has a great feel. Definitely silicone or rubber straps for dive watches ... perhaps a velcro on workout or beater watch. I also love a racing style leather strap. Similar to NATO are Zulu or paratrooper. Cheapest NATO straps, which you mentioned, is a great one stop shop to look at the variety out there.
Thanks! Great ideas and a great video, especially for folks just getting into the hobby. I was a little disappointed though that as the reigning watch olympic strap change gold medalist - you didn't have a chance to show off your mad skills! ;-).
Totally love the vintage brown leather strap. Would be perfect for my watches! By the way, nice choice of watch. Look forward to how you plan to do the givaway.
Aren't those NATOs basically the same as on AliExpress, just with a 4x premium? They also have thin mesh straps for 2,50€ and thick premium ones for 7€.
My advice on aliexpress. Get mesh and nato from them, they are pretty good. Don't get jack shit leather straps of any kind from aliexpress, they are hot jack shit.
It’s hit and miss. Some have loose annoying buckles and tangs.I’d rather buy a 15.00 Strap on Amazon and get it in 3 days than 5 bucks on Ali and wait a month.
Good video Dave! I wish you could have added more watches to the same straps for more variety, and also think that a perlon strap could have made it into this video. Any recommendation for a decent or premium perlon strap? I bought one from cheapest nato straps and it was very stiff and by the way the buckle was manufactured, it is virtually impossible to pass the strap through it to secure the watch... So unpractical and pretty much unusable.
Sorry to be off topic, in the intro you show an Orient with a white textured dial. I love this watch but can't find the model number anywhere, can you help me out?
Thanks for this very informative video. I have given up on the stainless steel bracelet I bought for my Casio Duro (Either too loose and or so tight that its leaving marks on my wrists). I have ordered a Milanese Mesh bracelet off of Ali Express. Question is, how much can I adjust it? My lifestyle involves a lot of transition from rough to formal environments and I require something versatile, with a very snug fit, but also dressy.
When are you doing the review on the Hamilton? I’ve been waiting ever since you did the unboxing. Btw, it’s cool you bought a bunch of the same watch to show in that last take with the different straps 🤣🤣
It's on sale right now, but ending soon, if you act fast you might be able to snag it: www.the5th.co/collections/mens/products/green-auto-two-tone I also did a full review of it, I really like it.
NATO strap are light and cheap. But my watch doesn't stay firmly on my hand with this strap on. It always slide to the right side of my wrist. Will only stay firm if I set it tight. But it's just too tight and hurt my hand. After an hour, my hand felt numb. There's only 'loose' and 'tight'. No 'perfect fit' when I'm using NATO strap. Wonder why
What you do is wear it on the next eyelet past where it's too tight (so it's really tight), and that'll stretch it out so where it felt too tight will be loosened up a bit. But that's also just the nature of the material used in NATO straps, the fit always stretches. Alternatively you can just wear it at the point where it feels just a little too tight and then reach your finger under the strap and pull on it here and there to loosen it up. You kind of want them to be a little loose though, because tight straps limit your wrists range of motion. If you tilt your hand down and it feel tightness, that's just not comfortable. The real issue with NATO is that the material is too slippery, and that's why everything shifts soo easy. That's why people use NATO's with something like a rubber or leather backing layer to give it some grip. The main benefit of a NATO is really how the buckle placement is off to the side of the wrist when on, rather than in the center like typical watch bands. So if you're working at a desk, the buckle being off to the side is much more comfortable than the buckle being dead center of the bottom of your wrist. The thinness of the strap also helps in that regard, as it sits more flush between the wrist and palm.
The problem i have buying straps is I have chicken size wrists , so most standard size straps don't have enough holes to fit me , Have to look for 'shorter length' straps or really my NATO collection is getting rather large
No disrespect intended but I've been hearing the adjective phrase " kind of" and "sort of" being used a lot lately. You use them a lot. You'd sound more sure of what you're saying by using them less.
It has been a year since you produced this video. How are you enjoying your $200 strap collection for your cheap Chinese watch? Are the straps compatible with other cheap watches in your collection?
I don't get why people wear mesh straps. I have one and it looks horrible on every single watch I own. Even though people seem to be very satisfied with it. Divers, chronographs, dress watches, light dials, dark, sunburst, doesn't matter it completely ruins the look. I also don't like it on your Guanqin. Simply because everything is silver, there is no contrast.

That Heritage strap is quite nice, but the Horween strap beats them all.
Agree

I just bought a golden Timex Fairfield and put it on a golden milanese mesh strap. Looks amazing!
Nice selection! I just bought a Spinnaker and they threw in a rubber tropic strap worth $50! It's really well made and the rubber is soft. Cheers mate...
Barton straps are legit. I put a khaki canvas on my Presage and it’s easier to look at it than you’d think

Acrylic Glass & Nylon Strap Watch
It luks Trendy & Casual
The Heritage is not for me, others all look great.
Bit concerning on the QC front though, thanks for being open about that Dave.
I prefer the Zulu strap over a NATO, helps keep the profile slim.
Personally, I love the suede straps that Strapsco offers. Attractive. Quite thick and durable as well.

I’ve been wanting to trade my khaki king for a quartz model.
Noticed your white dialed Zelos 39 mm. Got one based on your review. Very good.
Get a Barton Elite silicon strap and a basic black NATO.
Can't go wrong with horween. Good video.
Thanks! Great ideas and a great video, especially for folks just getting into the hobby. I was a little disappointed though that as the reigning watch olympic strap change gold medalist - you didn't have a chance to show off your mad skills! ;-).
My advice on nato straps is to look at the buckle. The cheap wire ones are crap. The flat tang ones are far superior.
Great video 😊👍
Crown and Buckle has some decent stuff
I´ve had very nice experience with StrapsCo. Greetings from MX.
As for me the best is zuludiver & colareb leather straps
Totally love the vintage brown leather strap. Would be perfect for my watches! By the way, nice choice of watch. Look forward to how you plan to do the givaway.

I really enjoy your channel! Subscribed and looking forward to more!
I might have to get some new straps now, great vid 👍

Hamilton should be my next full review!
I used to love NATOs, I have a dozen, but once I've tried the elastic Marine Natinale style... There's no comparison in terms of comfort.
Awesome video
Where can I get this gorgeous 5th Swiss Auto you presented?
It's on sale right now, but ending soon, if you act fast you might be able to snag it: www.the5th.co/collections/mens/products/green-auto-two-tone
I also did a full review of it, I really like it.
@@JusttheWatch Yeah its pretty! Thank u very much ;)
6:45 - This fake* "vintage" looks really good.
*Back in time this kind of rustic made strap where not in fashion.
Hi, may I can say it is a NH36 movment ? ;) Good video anyway and I have a grey dial watch and I was wondering which straps can I put on :)
Always get those too mixed up.
@@JusttheWatch ;)
Dave any thoughts on a perlon straps?
I like them! Did a video on them awhile back. In a lot of ways I prefer them over NATOs.

Strapsco are actually pretty good for this - they have several options in short / medium / long / extra. Also try Geckota.
@@ozludo There is a few companies out there that do shorter length straps , bought from Geckota before but the choice wasn't great
@@MyAlan999 that's a fair comment - there isn't a great range - but the ones Geckota have are excellent. YMMV, but mine are great quality.
Buy it from AliExpress
throws open metal strap suck , i lost a watch on motorcycle when one of throw open
