It's relatively new. But it plugs into the OBD2 port in the car and monitors the car's acceleration/braking and apparently, location. But they can also just use your phone's accelerometer and gyroscope data to monitor/get the same metrics. But using your phone is eventually how it's gonna be. It'll probably be an app that you download. But they could probably access your phone data without your knowledge, with or without the app, or having it enabled. The device would be the better option, but the location data is definitely kinda sketch 😅
