The On-Call duty is very TOXIC for one's work life balance. From long term perspective, it will have serious health implications (I had to go through a surgery). Trust me , you will get a call every weekend. Sometimes, you are about to have meal, going washroom, 3 am in night. Your body and mind is not at right peak, yet being expected to support a sev1 . The management tries to be oversmart by not putting multiple resources in shifts to save money

that's actually true in some sense, but it varies with team. In most of the teams I can see a 12 hr shift for on-call. But yes, you're expected to get to it even when you're having your meal.

What if you are on call and the ticket received is not from your domain? Say for example that you are a front end engineer and don't know much about the backend framework and languages. So do you only get your domain related on call tickets or all types of tickets?

On call is a nightmare for resources supporting from India.As issues are mostly cropping up during US business hours. I.e night or mid night.
