No other guitarist has his perfect balance of pure filthy sound and pristine clarity, speed with space and sensitivity. No other has his longevity and relevance, They are either dead or unable to move with the times. Jeff is timeless.
I'm 46 and long time guitar player. I've seen the man live three times. The last time, in 2001, he brought me to tears, literally streaming from my eyes, four times during the concert. I work in the business of live performance and am pretty jaded. Seriously...tears. Thank you TH-cam for bringing us this forum to share these videos. Jeff Beck represents the BEST in live presentation. In the moment. And sometimes it's other worldly.
Jeff Beck is truly a master. His techniques were so differnt from anything anyone else had even TRIED. I mean, really, for most, the wang bar is simply a novelty; he has used it to make his guitar a true extention of his voice. There are very few players that ever managed to convey the kind of emotion in a single note as Jeff Beck.
He get sounds out of his guitar that are unexplainable and hard to duplicate. I tried only 2 measures of his music and wanted to throw my guitar across the room! So kudos to Jeff! You're one hard mother to master! Love ya!
I can relate. I am also a working guitarist (35 yrs.) and record producer, now, thanks to a lot of influence from guys like Beck. He wrote books which can never be copied, musically. I've never seen him live, yet. Rock On!
Wow, this takes me back. I remember the summer of 1976, I was 16 years old, hanging out that summer, listening to music and burning rope. I was growing some seeds my mom brought back from Kenya. Ah, mom, how I miss you now :) Beck's "Wired" album was one of my favorites, along with Rick Wakeman, and there was a Beck album with Jan Hammer, something about "Earth is Still Our Only Home". Truer words were never spoken, eh? Too bad The Establishment ignored our warnings for 35 years...
Look at what he does. No one plays like that. A true master of all the elements of the instrument. He speaks with it as a second language and shows his vulnerable human side as well.
Beck performed in more intimate surroundings in Auckland, NZ, in 2009. Those notes just soared in a concert hall. He's like Miles Davis in the way he holds a note and is so economical. Two hours of sheer wonder! Thanks for posting these clips!
I love the way he interprets Mingus' work on guitar. He has that sax tone spot on. If you were to just be listening to this you couldn't tell the difference. Awesome!
My favorite thing to do to relax is:: Drink some good wine, sit with my lady in the dark with candles and listen to the "genius Guitar Man" Junk, with melodic tones and bluesy riffs. out of the box, makes no sense, But brilliant at the same time! That is Jeff Beck! He does not care.. He just lets go!
I saw him last nite here in Melbourne. He was AMAZING. I knew what to expect too, seen his stuff here, but he still exceeded my (already very high) expectations. Hugely enjoyable show. Gotta go - I've got some practicing to do...
It seems to me that this guy is SO underrated and underrespected. He is awesome. The Wired album, for example, is just a great example of guitar and interpretation and expression.
A master of the guitar. A world class musician who has inspired so many young and old. I was recently in a music store and a kid was playing "Day in the Life" by Jeff Beck. I said to the kid (12 years old) that's a version of Jeff Beck. The kid says to me, Jeff is my idol. I was wowed and blown away. True story. That is how powerful this man's influence is.
As I was ice fhishing on a remote lake in Finland , these melodies walk beside me:) Thank's to those who made this event true. Mr Beck and dear Vinnie:) A.
saw Jeff Beck at the tower of london in july 2006. he was absolutly incredible. the chemistry with his band was amazing and the guitar playing... Damn!!! this guys not resting on his laurels he's ten times the guitar player he ever was. I was completly blown away. I can easily say that this was one of the best concerts I have ever been to!!! thanks for posting this video
The best guitar effect is raw emotion streaming from human mind. Man, what I would pay to have the privilege of seeing him play in an intimate club setting. A true master of the electric guitar.
Wired is without a doubt the best album of 1976, yes album not CD and still ROCKS today! I won it from a radio station in Philly (WMMR) way back then when I was a young pup. Thanks guys.
WOW, I got to see Jeff Beck last fall with this band in a small club and it is really nice to see a Pro shot of him from last year doing his thing. El Becko is awesome.
I saw Jeff Beck over 30 years ago, and he was considered to be one of the best guitarists of our time, of course, that was a different time, now people don't really appreciate true inovation.
To my ear Jeff beck is an absolutely amazing guitarist. As a player myself, I often draw to Jeff for inspiration as I do many other wonderful guitarists out there. Lets all join in celebrating Jeff's unique contributions to the music industry.
This song was written by Charles Mingus & is a homage to the great Lester "The Prez" Young who always wore a pork-pie hat. Lester Young is right at top of my list as an all time favorite musicians. He's a HUGE reason how I got hooked on jazz in the first place. This rendition by the one & only Jeff Beck is nothing short of amazing!
This dude makes every note sing. This is delicious. when I heard Somewhere over the rainbow by this guy , I was blow away. This man sings with his hands.. for real !!!!!!!!
Originality trumps sophistication. Spirit trumps speed. The most dazzling technical displays fizzle beside raw soul. Beck can walk on stage with anyone in the Universe.
I've seen them all Steve Vai, Eric Johnson, Eddie, S.R.V.... They are all great !!!! For me Jeff hit's the cleanest notes !! Jeff Beck is my favorite !!!!!!!
"Good Bye Pork Pie Hat" is normally a woodwind instrumented song/Mingus. Playing it on guitar is just dope! JB, one of the best guitarists of all time. This is so much out of this universe playing, you all should be paying just to listen and watch. Effing phenominal.
Jeff Beck - a great example of when human and guitar become one. His playing comes as natural as speaking for you and me. He doesn't play a lot of notes... just the right ones and every one of those notes are loaded with expression. No senseless up and down the scale "look at me I can play fast" BS .... just pure music direct from the soul.
Thats why Becks a Genius, music is the vehicle of transcendence.Beck can communicate to those who listen to what he is saying.not everybody listens ,thats why some people dont get jeff beck.
Saw Beck last night - Thebarton Theatre, Adelaide....FARGON AMAZING....bass player Tal Wilkenfeld - awesome...drummer Vinnie Colaiuta - totally outstanding as usual!!
I did want to hear 'Goodbye Pork Pie Hat' but I have heard at least two different versions of it by him... but this blues is a beautiful things :-) Jeff Beck Rocks!!
For heaven's sake, people could get heart attacks watching this. Incredible guitarists, one of the first songs I've heard from him. Listening to this just makes me want to dust off my ampless guitar and play my heart out.

We will miss you Jeff Beck.

Jeff Beck is soo awesome I have his whole collection!! Best guitar I ever heard!
Jeff Beck is truly a master. His techniques were so differnt from anything anyone else had even TRIED. He really thinks when he solos. Jeff Beck never sprays notes all over the place, a true master.
Wow--he is just so unique. He has a real voice. I love how he refuses to rely on staple licks and instead goes for something truly innovative.
He get sounds out of his guitar that are unexplainable and hard to duplicate. I tried only 2 measures of his music and wanted to throw my guitar across the room! So kudos to Jeff! You're one hard mother to master! Love ya!
Similpy amazing! We all look forward to playing guitar....

Vinnie is a drum legend. One of the worlds true greats right now.

Children can't appreciate music like this. They were raised on wall to wall noise. A few will break through into the light...
Jeff Beck's style is unmistakeable. His musical vocabulary and bag of licks is nearly infinite. Vinnie Coliauta is awsome on the drums too!
a gifted and dynamic performer who knew how to add layers and linerial melody,...and patient with his note selection
WOW, I got to see Jeff Beck last fall with this band in a small club and it is really nice to see a Pro shot of him from last year doing his thing. El Becko is awesome.
