  • MASSENET - Manon’s aria, diction : Allons, il le faut / Adieu notre petite table
Soprano opera aria. Pronunciation guide with score animation and translation (part B), by french vocal coach. TIME:CODES below! Other videos / @frenchlyric2767
How to pronounce french to sing opera arias and sound french? Enjoy this practical and easy tutorial : lyrics clearly spoken by a native singer and vocal coach. In 2 parts (levels A and B) for beginners or students, for international competition or role preparation.
    00:01 A level = Diction guide - Recitative « Allons ! Il le faut ! »
    02:40 (A) « Je ne suis que faiblesse... »
    04:31 (A) Air « Adieu, notre petite table »
08:02 B level = clearly spoken text - with pictures and english translation
    -
A level : in the first part, step by step, I have made the choice of a quite sustained voice : a little moving in the frequencies, but freely, not the same way as in the aria. You can make it your own way, of course.
    - B level : In the second part, I have simply “spoken” the text. When you know the text by heart this way, you don’t need the first part anymore ! The images are intended to help imagination and memorization. (With english translation)
For the french [r] : you can flip it (just one flip, don’t make a heavy roll), especially for classical singing. I suggest this choice because it’s historically correct, more understandable, and because it’s easier. Here I used the french spoken [r], so you can hear what it sounds like from a native.

You are really welcome to vote for the next aria AND to add informations ! A friend of mine already sent me this better translation 😀 :
Come now! It is necessary! For his own sake! My poor cavalier! Oh, yes, it's him I love. And yet, I am hesitating today. No! I am no longer worthy of him!
I hear that voice tearing me away against my will : Manon, Manon, You will be queen. Queen by beauty!
I am but weakness and fragility! Ah! Despite myself I feel my tears flow before these faded dreams.
Will future hold the charms of those beautiful days, gone already?
Adieu, our little table that so often united us. So large for us though! It holds us - it's unimaginable, so little space... Hugging together...
Adieu, our little table. One same glass was ours. Each of us when drinking from it was searching there the others lips! Ah! Poor friend, how much he loved me!
Adieu, our little table - adieu!
    Thanks for your support !
