Hi Mike, I recently rebuilt my 64 model and it doesn't have the style of rich/ lean adjustment unit in your video. When I took out the needle it only had two washers in the carb. A nylon one and a fiber one. I don't see in your video that you replace those. You just have an o ring on yours. I didn't use an o ring, and I can't get this unit to idle properly no matter what I do. Should I pull out the nylon and fiber washers and use the o ring instead? Thanks
@@michaeljsimon I would love this. I've watched countless videos of yours and others and learned a lot so far, but this has stumped me all summer. I bought a 9.9 to work on I was so frustrated lol
Hey Mike, I have a question. Every time I buy a new carb kit for an Evinrude or Johnson, the new main jet valve doesn't seem to want to screw into the carb all the way. Its like the threads are wrong. I've been cleaning the old jet valve and just using the new float and needle. Is that good idea or are they specifically designed for the new needle to fit into the new jet valve?
Thank you for your vids. What size fuel lines are for fuel pump and pump to carb for 9.5 mq-11c 65 Johnson ?
1/4” I’d
Thank you.
So, is there no need to remove the two soft metal plugs and replace? Thanks
👍🏻 Does the test motor pump water as it should?
Nope - the power head leaks - that’s why it’s my test motor / you are very observant ha ha

The washer is not your problem - it is the timing setting on your carb.
I’ll make a video.

Good videos. I bought a 5hp 1967 Evindrude for 30 dollars that I am restoring. Is there no zink anode on this outboard?
Don’t think so

You’re buying the cheap China carb kits. Buy my carb kits and you won’t have any problems
I rebuilt a carb on my 1970 9.5 Johnson and there is a small hole that when the motor is running it has gas that comes out of the hole in the carb
Might have a float issue.
