Are Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Sales bad??? I discuss my thoughts on the Japanese first week sales figures and what this means for the future of Final Fantasy Re Series.
I have no idea if the Remake is doing well or not - but take into consideration the following. I am a huge FF7 fan. I remember writing petitions for the remake back in the PS2 days. Hell, I was willing to pay $1000 if FF7 was ever properly remade. And the fact that I haven't bothered with these remakes should probably tell you how I feel about the changes they made. I know not every fan will share my sentiments, but if they managed to lose me as a customer, I'd be surprised if it does well.
My problem is it’s just not the remake we all wanted, sure I played FF7 Remake part 1 then heard rebirth won’t be a disc 2 kind of expansion but a whole new game were I have to install an extra 100 gigs on my computer, it’s just a turn off and I don’t want to start my character over from scratch, that’s just not how it was done in the OG FF7, in the remake it took me hours just to go though the stupid tunnels back to town, it was unnecessarily stretched out.
Main issue is that the Final Fantasy brand is not at all what it was in the 90's and early 00's. They'd had plenty of mediocre entries since then. Mainstream media might give FF titles high scores allowing for a general high metacritic score, but old school fans are generally not impressed which translates into no buy.
the data : FF7 P1 sold 7M compare that to Rebirth 2.2m (that's peak total active users so including the demo so the numbers could be much lower like 1.7M sold) , to see 2/3 drop from p1 to p2 is a huge red flag... FF16 sold 3M and it only available on 38m PS5 less install base PS5s compare to Rebirth on 50m PS5s, so been exclusive on PS5 is not why the game not selling well, other argument that i hear that because it's a sequel, but that doesn't make any sense when you compare it to other game series like God of war - spiderman - The Witcher - Mass effect, the sequel always sold more than the prequel. as for FF16 the data shows it successfully expanded the series to new players, but also there was a drop from older players.
God of War Ragnarok is available on previous generation console and still hasn't outsold the first game's totality of sales. Mass Effect 2, if I'm not mistaken went multiplatform whereas the first was exclusive to 360. Most people agree that the Witcher III is playable without playing the first 2 games. And spiderman 2 also hasn't outsold the first game yet, but also miles morales has sold a crap ton of copies and one of the versions of that game includes the first game. So how many more new people technically played the first game after that released is uncertain, but it's probably in the millions which you would have to tack onto first game's sales if you want to be accurate.

It's probably because after the first game and with the bullshit they pulled with the story changes and censorship people realized this is how the rest of the remake would be and boycotted it
Well, i know when i tried to preorder the deluxe edition it was sold out everywhere online!!! So that is saying a lot. Remake was not. So its probably just trying to stir up news and talk. I know FF remake trilogy is not the same, but if u wanted the OG, then honestly play the OG. They even have a remake for the OG on pc which is damn nice with updated graphics and voiceovers. I dont mind this remake even though its not the same. Its an FF7 remake. FF 15 was fuking horrible and that was extremely boring. And 16 was good but not as good as ppl say it is. I cant stand that medival times FF style. Its been redone to death on FF games. Thats why 7 was so good. It was different. But 16 aint touching 7 rebirth.
Nah, as slimy as it might seem, if they released it on PC an PS5 simultaneously let's say, people would just pick their platform of choice and that would be the end of it. Sure, it would probably increase total sales a bit... But if they hold it hostage on PS5 for a year then not only would some people who didn't get to play it on PS5 purchase the game when it comes to PC, but they also get the added bonus of people who already owned the game double dipping on it again because now they get to play it on their preferred platform, but probably wouldn't have purchased on both consoles if it launched that way. They might have just purchased on PC. So it probably benefits them long term to hold the exclusivity deal not to mention the added bonus Sony is probably giving them for it.
@@FaustFantasy the Sony exclusivity deal is one of the dumbest thing I've seen in gaming... Square-Enix are paying the price for it and I'm more than pleased to eventually see this game on every platforms... as it should be

@@FaustFantasy ME3 outsold ME2, and in ME3, playing without playing the first two can give you a lesser experience.

FFVII Rebirth is not selling well because simply put, SE overestimated FFVII's popularity, especially with newer gamers.
