Great videos. My only critique is that when you do certain actions (that may be simple to you) you trail off to almost a whisper like you're talking to yourself and dont explain the 4 or 5 buttons you just hit on the ddi.
I get frustrated with that too, and I've found it's not limited to Wags' tutorials, however. IT's very unfortunate for new DCS players (and ED) that don't have much time to waste on bad tutorials or poorly written manuals (which DCS is full of). I'm sure ED has lost a lot of business because of it. But back to the topic. Many TH-camrs, doing DCS tutorials, are far from knowing how to actually teach a subject, especially one as detailed as flying a simulator of a combat jet. I'm a professor (and do teach pedagogy seminars) and I've found that leaving out 'details' is one of the most common 'teaching' errors. That is to say, many people who are just beginning to teach leave out specific 'details' under the assumption that everyone knows it. They leave out such details, by mistake, simply because they have done that 'detail' so many times in their own work and experiences. As a result, this 'detail', in a way, has become second nature to them which, in turn, causes them to overlook it as a detail that still needs explanation. It's all in the details --not in this case, however.

Difficult to be controlling the aircraft with the stick if there is an active threat in the area of operation trying to get out of harm's way while at the same time holding the laser trigger down during the whole time before weapon impact.

Thanks Wags and ALL. One year ago ???? this was done yesterday !!!! I figured out the way to move the mav camera but have not been able to fire one
On looking through the NATOPS Manual, in at least some F-18s the COMM 2 ARC-210 is an ARC-210 Digital Communication System which is capable of receiving Variable Message Format messages. This would also utilize the Nets page on the DDIs. Will this be implemented or will it be a conventional ARC-210?
I have been really struggling with the Mav, and I do not understand why the X over the mav box does not go away ? I have spent hours on this and no joy. Aug 2020

I put the TGP on the target, auto bomb selected, tdc depress to designate target location, run in and the auto release drops the bombs nearly right over the target. The bombs go way long and have no chance of acquiring the laser. The laser is firing no problem.

I would like to share some info about bug I experienced. Well, I work a lot with the Mission Editor. When I open any mission I created before TGP release and replace for example Mk-82 with GBU-12, the laser guidance won't work at all. Everything is set up properly, I can designate the target, release bombs, but no guidance when I hold the trigger. SOLUTION: if you experience a bug like that, DELETE your Hornet flight, and add it again on the Mission Editor's map, and arm with GBU-12s. Now laser guidance should work well.
hi guys, some help please,i am using the tdc alternative (so no need to depress while sleewing), i have discovered that to activate the laser you have to first press once the triggerthen the mav can spot your laser. The question is: i am sleewing the box on the target but i am not able to see the little square inside the cross in the flir designator, what is it and how can i have this on?!? i am able to hit targets anyway without it, but how to have it on?!?
Is it just me or whenever I follow a lot of these tutorials there’s SOMETHING that never works. I got right up to the point of firing the Mav but the thing won’t fire. I have every indication wags has in his video too. I tried pressing the weapon release many times but if I hold it down too long the LTDr stops losing and the mav gets the X through the box. Why can’t I ever get a tutorial to work perfectly for me ever!
It's not gliding it all it's Free falling. Surface controls can do only as much but certainly not glide. In my understanding if you are dropping from 10 to fifteen thousand foot by the time 30 or 40 seconds has passed bomb travel right under you which after 40 seconds can be many miles depends on the speed that was initially used to drop it. I'm not an expert but it can be many miles.
I know this is not a forum but does anyone know how to delete the waypoints from the first TOO. Take out the first target okay come back around and try to designate a different target but the coordinates don’t change?
For some reason, when i follow the same steps on PG map, GBUs don't hit the target. On Caucasus it works with all weapons. Is anyone experiencing the same issue ?

You say how easy it is but I have no idea where you got the code from. From your previous video using JTAC I understand JTAC gives you the code but if you are self designating using the Lightening Pod, where does the code come from to input? You did not explain that part.
@@Combatant5. No, there is no SPI function like in the A-10C. The closest is creating a target point which some weapons and sensors can create / be slaved to. IR Mav is not one of them.
I use this method. If you have the TGP centered with cage/uncage button and pres TDC button you set the target and see it in the HUD. From there you now see where to slew the TGP to find the actual target.
From my testing exp, you can pickle the bomb in freefall, only to lase at the last 10s before impact. As of now, the targeting pod follows almost all the logic from the pod for the a10c, which is also the litening
Holding the trigger down - I press the trigger and release it, in the right DDI it changes to LTD/R, is the laser still firing whenever it says LTD/R or do I really have to press and hold the trigger until impact? The trigger on my Hotas X looks like it may be acting as a toggle switch.

I’m having nothing but problems with this. Sometimes getting the AUTO prompt, hold the release, looks like a good drop, get a TTI countdown to zero with the little green diamond on the target, but the AUTO doesn’t cross out and the bomb hasn’t left the aircraft. Other times it works ok. Other times the first one or two drops are perfect but subsequent drops are nowhere near the target and I can’t see anything. different.
I have a problem using the 82LG or any laser guided bomb.If i am on high altitude (25000) the auto fuction gives me the release too late and the bomb misses the laser. My only successful drops occur if i move the velocity vector towards the target point so the bomb will take more steep angle to find the laser or if i am on lower altitudes >/15.000.I set up the bombs with auto/mfuz off/efuz inst Code same on each bomb and pod.Anyone knows on what alt. the LGB starts tracking the laser code?Cause i checked both wags and spud are above A.20.
I have a question. How do you slew the camera? I've tried the TDC Throttle grip and my camera will not slew whether by that analog control nor will it slew via the keyboard. Is this the same control that slews the target designator on the A-A radar? A-A mode works fine and in the Adjust controls it works fine (displays feedback). Is the camera caged? and if so what is the command to Cage/Uncage.
I found the answer but rather than delete this comment I thought I would share in case there are others with the same issue. The only thing omitted is you need to select the right DDI with the sensor switch on the HOTAS or what ever key is bound to the "Sensor Control Switch - Right" by default mine was RAlt + /. Thumbs up for this tutorial.
Having issues with LGB's and Mav E's I'm doing: Arm switch,A/G button, Mode auto, Fuse Nose and/or N/T, select instant detention, laser code, ...but when I select the fuse the LGB symbol X's out and the bomb wouldn't drop? am I missing something?
Awesome tutorial Matt - thank you! Could you please let me know which physical keys or designator you are using for slewing the seeker (I assume you are using Hotas Warthog?) as the way you are controlling it is both very swift and precise at the same time. Thank you.
Will it be possible to drop more than one laser guided bomb at a time with different codes? For example, I laze with a code from the TGP while JTAC/Buddy lazes another target with another code? I would then drop the bombs in pairs and each can go to their own target, or am I just nuts? This is probably something they don't do in a real life but thought I would ask. Thanks!
Correct, only JDAMs require a allignment procedure, this because they utilize gps system to guide then in free fall, where laser guided ones steer by the deflection on the nose seeker. As far i know of (which can be off), the tail fins are only for stabilizing the bomb in flight so it wont go flipping.

@17ll3 x214 What the button that we must hold untill the bomb pop out? I just use a single click then it goes... but as Matt is saying I don't know what use, already tried trigger 1 and it don't work cause trigger 1 its to active the laser, I always use the trigger 2 to drop it when the line appaers in the hud and then press once the trigger 1 to turn on or off the laser...

I have the same problem. Being above 30k feet helps drop them in shallow dive. But they don't track the laser everytime
Where do you get the code for the targeting pod?
There is no code that you "get". Just make sure the pod code and the weapon code match.
Matt Wagner thanks!
Great !! Still no way to use UTM/MGRS coordinate in the INS ?
This
how exactly do i get the targeting pod? i don't see the option when I rearm and refuel
middle station
@@marien8171 thank you.. I never knew you could right click on the stations until like a day ago lol
@@1niceguyme no problem dude, took me a a while to figure out as well :)
I have this game/module and I think GD needs to have Air to Ground tutorials.
I am trying to set up a mission using the TGP.....I am not seeing it in and of my pylon options. Is it not out yet ?
Jen ONE. Open Beta
@@MattWagner my bad. I had a der moment. Great video Waggs.
Wags, No matter how many times I hit depress on the TDC control, I can't get the laser to fire , any suggestions?
Control stick trigger with TRIG boxed fires the laser, not TDC depress.
@@MattWagner yep, you're right. pilot error here. since the correction has been made, multiple targets have been lased and destroyed :)
@@MattWagner what control is that?
Hi sir, is it able to transfer acquired target to other types of Mavericks ?
You will be able to create a target point with the pod, from which you can slave the mav.
Is This feature already active? , Thank you great
Matt what about slaving the tgp to a waypoint?
On the forums it is stated this feature is not available yet
@@NineLineED man its hard finding vehicles at a distance with out hud syboligy or slaving to waypoints
MFUZ Off and EFUZ Inst, like in the video.
@@MattWagner thanx
Is target range info displayed anywhere whilst using the pod?
Romeo Juliet Whiskey Not yet.
Hey Wags any idea if the apkws will come to dcs?
Perhaps for AI aircraft, but none of the flyable aircraft should have it based on the year being modeled.
"Let's find a juicy little hanger."
Nice new thing to play with!
But we have to hold down the trigger for lasing? This is due to first release of the hornet TGP? Hope this is not final.
Mine seems to be latching, I don't know if I've inadvertantly set that somewhere.
Awesome tutorial Matt - thank you! Could you please let me know which physical keys or designator you are using for slewing the seeker (I assume you are using Hotas Warthog?) as the way you are controlling it is both very swift and precise at the same time. Thank you.
Dariusz Gurtowski Axis slew
but is this function released in the latest update?
Yes
Will it be possible to drop more than one laser guided bomb at a time with different codes? For example, I laze with a code from the TGP while JTAC/Buddy lazes another target with another code? I would then drop the bombs in pairs and each can go to their own target, or am I just nuts? This is probably something they don't do in a real life but thought I would ask. Thanks!
I don't see why not. Since each bomb can be designated with it's own code, this should be possible.
good stuff. Is it also planned to have a recon pod (for reconnaissance) ?
Can you designate targets for other people?
Jacek S. Yes
I'm assuming the laser doesn't need alignment, correct? So a fast startup/scramble procedure will still work for anything non-GPS dependent...?
Correct, only JDAMs require a allignment procedure, this because they utilize gps system to guide then in free fall, where laser guided ones steer by the deflection on the nose seeker. As far i know of (which can be off), the tail fins are only for stabilizing the bomb in flight so it wont go flipping.
Outstanding!
Will the f-18 be going on sale anytime soon? I really want to buy one.
Sale probably be on Christmas
where is "STEP" button if using JSOW?
It's there. Make sure you select more than one station using QTY.
when the steam edition can get the update?
Its already is but you must use beta branch, hope this helps.
When?
Wait... is this already out?
Whats the next major feature that will be worked on?
Harpoon
I found that you do not have to hold the trigger. Just click it one to activate.
Everyone is now frantically testing this out.
IR Mav can not be slaved to TGP?
Hi wags I have a problem with my log in authorization? When I go to load DCS WORLD 2.5 it says invalid username or password? I don't know what happened I never had this issue before? So what do I do?
At least the ground work is now set up for the F-16 when it come out.....maybe add these features to the F-15 and convert it to the F-15E strike eagle so we can drop some GBU-28 bunker busters
I'm trying do the same here, looks that this stuff has changed
@17ll3 x214 I dont know buddy, I just can tell you that I use the flir pod very diferent that that way, stead of ''holding the trigger'' until the bomb fall (something that never work for me), I drop the bomb with a single trigger click and then active the laser too with a single click aswell, it falls at the target normaly...
@17ll3 x214 I click the trigger once to laze and weapons release to drop bombs
Nothing is safe anymore. Nothing! Thanks Team ED.
Is this out now?
Jason Townsend. Yes
