I love that pattern -as well as many of the other's you've showcased.. I've been digging through the regs a bit and I'm still unsure whether a two hook fly is legal for SRC and salmon. It was when I was a kid, but that was a long time ago and my most recent days of fishing the Sound was 40+ years ago. Can you enlighten me? Many thanks!
You can’t have a hook with more than one point (like a treble hook) since this fly has two hooks connected with line it’s legal. They have to be barbless though so make sure to pinch the barbs
The russian river bucktail is only really similar in name only. This style of saltwater fly originated in British Columbia, especially with the saltwater salmon fisheries by Tofino.
Here's a video we did on showing how to tie it with dumbbell eyes. The order of materials will be tied in the same as this pattern. th-cam.com/video/osQYGOmobtk/w-d-xo.html

Man where are you using bucktails? For me is was the Russian River fishery on the Kenai River only - anywhere else is a big question. : )

@@Gigharborflyshop Oh. That's great. : )
Well a buzz bomb with a soft pink center in a size 4 or 3 will work in the Puget Sound - so why wouldn't your fly work? So I don't know?
they definitely love pink don't they!?!
@@Gigharborflyshop The soft blue buzz bomb one works better - and it was a real reply. : (
Blake. Can you show how to tie one with the dumbbell eyes? Preferably chartreuse

Where can we get wiggle discs?🤔
Hi Steven, no wiggle disc needed. I put a small clevis and hammered Colorado blade on the line in front of the fly.
