      Real nice things. The drink reminds me of a 80's drink. We called it sputnik. Take a glass put in a cm of coffee creamer. Put in a limonad syrup and top of with your favorite fizzy drink. The pasta would it help to boil it with a stock cube? Smoked paprika would be so nice on it.

    I don't think anyone recommends washing your pasta, because you want that starchy water to finish your sauce!

    • @iEditStuf
      @iEditStuf 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Plus we tend to cook rice until it absorbs all the water in the pan and therefore keep all the starch with it. With pasta it stays in the leftover cooking water, which as you say is great for sauces.

      You shouldn't wash rice really, if you measure the water out to the rice properly cook it and allow it to steam and absorb, you don't have left over water, but you have a flavoured starchy rice ..

    • @peterclarke7240
      @peterclarke7240 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Barry, despite running a cooking channel, seems incapable of learning how to cook anything starchy that isn't an oven chip.
      No, nobody washes their pasta apart from barry, and rice should be booked in the correct amount of water so it absorbs it all. There is no reason to wash or drain it if you measure the water and cook it at the right temperture.

    Farfalle means “butterfly” in Italian so we call it butterfly noodles instead of bow tie in our house.

    • @MadMadameMeg
      @MadMadameMeg 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Weirdly though, the inventor of farfalle went with a bow tie shape though. If it was to be butterfly then it needs more of a B shape even if the edges are pointed and not rounded. Like where the top sticks out more than the bottom and is bigger like on a Monarch butterfly. Its not hard to do. So why call it butterfly but shape it like a bow tie?

      This is the problem with veg boxes.
      They seem like a wonderful idea, until you realise you haven't got a clue how to deal with anything unfamiliar.
      Basically, any veg will work in a stew or stew fry or curry. Stop thinking like an Anglo-saxon (everything separate, and then drown in salt and gravy) and think like everyone else on the planet (Chuck it all in with herbs and spices and make something yummy 😋)
      Kolrabi is nice if you grate it as a refreshing starter- goes well as a salad or pallet cleanser, but you can also make chips or mash with it. It's basically a spud you can eat raw.

    I wonder if you can substitute the lemon drink with instant chocolate pudding and use iced milk (any kind) instead of water. Making a frosty chocolate treat 🤔
    Added: for those asking...instant jello pudding (and generic versions) are made specially to not be cooked. Its dissolved in milk , you then put it in the fridge and it sets. It's really popular in my area (small town America)
    You can order it online if it's not in your local grocery.

      heya it sounds like an awesome idea but instant pudding mix has lots of corn/potato starch in it to thicken the pudding, so if its not cooked it would taste coarse and grainy (uncooked starch also not too easy on the stomach), just use baking cocoa and sugar instead or chocolate milk powder, this way you get the chocolatey goodness without needing to cook out the starch

    Barry that whipped lemonade propably got so thick so fast cause the lemonade powder has citric acid in it, so the cream reacted to the acidity and seized, thats why it also had this clotted cream like texture, its not stiff because it has lots of air in it its thick and dense cause the cream became a kind of sourcream.

      Constantly stirring pasta breaks it into mush. You can also do this with traditional frying methods. You mostly have to get the oil really hot and pat the pasta dry before you toss it in. Alternatively, you can use a rice flour based pasta and fry it without cooking. Happy cooking

    Any other brits absolutely confused at the idea of non-fizzy lemonade? It seems like such a foreign concept to me. It always did confuse me in cartoons how they'd just add lemon, sugar and water to a drink at a "lemonade stand" and call it lemonade. Anything with Ade at the end of it in the UK = Fizzy. Though the local co-op has recently started stocking Arizona drinks, and I bought a Strawberry Lemonade thinking it was gonna be fizzy, it was not. Was quite enjoyable though for my first foray into non-fizzy lemonade.

    i got a challenge for you, find the cheapest cuppa soups and then find the most expensive cuppa soups and see which you prefer, i like minestrone soup, i bought some cheap ones 0.79p, some mid range at 0.89p and some expensive ones a pack ranging from 1.29 up to £1.99p but you got to think same flavor or you gunna be buying too many flavors... you could also try making your own compared to packet soups...

    @Barry Lewis ... Greetings from Texas, USA. An idea for a Barry Tries video, or maybe a 4x3 ingredient episodes:
    1.) Real southern style corn bread (savory, not sweet) -- for a 4x3 episode you'd probably need a packet mix which are usually sweet, but, maybe UK is different than US.
    2.) Cow's Milk, ideally raw non-pasteurized, but that's hard to find and some people consider it dangerous.
    Take corn bread, crumple it into the milk w/ your hand, eat w/ spoon.
    It's an old recipe we'd have on the farm, hence the raw milk... thought you might like something very different. It's also delicious, usually served as a desert.

    I should have finished watching this before making the whipped lemonade...I just ate it as if it were a mousse or something, which was very nice still and would be terrific on a spo ge cake,..1 layer of sponge...the cream mix on that, sliced peaches on that, another layer of sponge followed by 1 more layer of whipped crea. And peach slices on that... or on the first layer, you could put strawberry jam on both sponge layers, then Add plain whipped cream or the whipped lemonade cream on on top of the first layer of sponge, then with the 2nd cake layer, place that on top, jam layer down, then once joined, do the layer of just whipped cream/lemonade and peaches on topic that layer of cream. My cousins grandma used to make so.ething very very similar w8th the lemon and plain whipped creams.. jam & peaches, they were amazing!
    Now I've seen the full video though, ill have to try and make it again as a drink...! 🤣

    There is a restaurant in New Orleans, Copeland's (owned by the original founder of Popeye's, Al Copeland, or rather his family, now,) that serves fried farfalle pasta with their artichoke dip. I'm pretty sure it's made exactly like this, with perhaps some cayenne added to the spices as theirs has a bit of a kick.

    I don't like the idea of the pasta chips personally, as I'm not a fan of crunchy pasta, lol. But I wonder if just mixing it in pesto would work? Like it's got oil, cheese, seasonings... Would be interesting to see.

    I have to think the watermelon pizza is an outgrowth of a watermelon BBQ thing we had in the US about 10 years ago. They would brush BBQ sauce or put a BBQ rub on the watermelon and grill it for about 3 minutes a side. Never got real popular, but might be the context.

    Interesting fact. You call it bow-tie pasta, we (in germany) usually call them butterfly (Schmetterling) pasta since it a) looks like a butterfly and b) Farfalle in italian translates to butterfly xD
    Pretty sure, some of these TikTok recipes are fake in terms of taste xD
    They all tell you it's amazing but either they didn't try it at all or it tasted really bad and they want you to suffer xD

    They have air conditioning in an office near Abigail Thorne's office in London. It is possible. Why would you torture yourself? ( I am across the pond and in the south, where one will die without air conditioning these days, so I can't picture life without air conditioning).
