Every time you give us a thumbs up a Narwhal gets its horn! (maybe..) - ภาพยนตร์และแอนิเมชัน
Matthew Lewis deserves a lot of credit for selling Neville's arc. He goes from such a lovable screwup in the first two movies to a complete badass in the last movie. That shot of him cutting Nagini in half may be the most awesome moment in the entire series.
helps that he alsou goes for 11 years old to over 20
He plays it so well in Order of the Phoenix! He really sold how much Bellatrix escaping effected him and motivated him to fight
Y
Shoot I didn’t know the books were based on the movies
@@ossmann89 I never said they were. I'm giving the movies credit on their own.
Love how J goes from top of the world confidence to just pulling a massive Neville on question 1.
Ben no need to change your pen habits because it annoys somebody else. A lot of fans probably enjoy that. You are the sweetest soul!!!
Also it’s his pen. If there’s germs it’s just him or J touching it who cares.
Funnily, I always think it looks very satisfying when he plays with the pen and his mouth.
At this point, there is a direct correlation between a Carlin brother having facial hair and their ability to remember answers.
I kinda want Ben to surprise Jay by showing up with only a moustache
"The first question is always easy"
J- "we'll see about that"
"Hold my Carlin Coffee"
"they're gonna be mad and write fanfiction about it for 15 years"
.. some of them professionally.
Prince of Slytherin
"Harry Potter and Ginny Weasley = PotWeasle." - My wife
J looks like an old timey villain with the mustache and I am here for it
Yea I’m getting waluigi vibes
Neville disembowel toads is extra cruel when you realize that he has a pet toad.
Horned toads are a type of lizard. They sometimes get called horned lizard because of that.
@@MulanBelle interesting. I love learning new things!
Snape, for all his bravery and heroism, is an adult that loves bullying children
@@robsoooozyup
That’s what I thought.
I donated like $100 to that mustache and I really feel like I'm getting my money's worth. It's magnificent
suggestion for a quiz topic: Professors, where questions on any teacher at Hogwarts, past or present, are up for grabs. I know they’ve done a McGonagall and Lockhart quiz, but one on all of them could be interesting 👀
Passwords! I know they have password questions throughout quizzes, but just passwords would be interesting.
I agree with the professor quiz
J missing #1 was like when they both missed that Hagrid was first introduced in "The Boy Who Lived" from that quiz forever ago
J going for the Broadway reference made me smile
I’ll bet he asked Hagrid to fetch the Cornish Pixies, and Hagrid did it in less than 5 minutes so he assumed it was easy.
That'd be so funny
Snape making a truck back into a loading bay might just be the funniest thing I've heard today. Other than the rememberall incident of course. And the stache! Looks great!
J: you need wands to do potions
Snape: There will be no foolish wand waving or silly incantations in this class
There was an old pottermore article that mentioned needing Wands, that’s a movie quote
In the recipe for the polyjuice potion there are several parts about stirring it clockwise or counter clockwise with a wand. This is in lots of recipes in his sixth year and you don't see a lot of recipes for the classes snape teaches.
Ben, don't worry about the pen. You be you. They will get over it.
I think it's more fitting for Neville to have Unicorn Hair wand than Phoenix because Phoenix's are known for rebirth (Harry escaped death and Voldemort tried to be immortal, but Neville doesn't have anything to do with death) however Unicorns are known for innocence and I think Neville most of all embodies innocence, he stands up for what's right even at personal cost.
J's face as soon as he says the answer to question 1 was absolutely hilarious 😂😂😅 he was so confident then he says it out loud and he's immediately like "what?? Why did I say that?!"
It's okay, when you said "Scurgio" you were definitely thinking of "Tergeo" which is a spell used to remove liquids like blood and grease, or could be used to clean objects
Erin's right, there's Tergeo which is used for cleaning things. Scourgify is used in the stinksap scene but it seems likely that Tergeo could have been used as it's used on Harry to clean the blood off his face in HBP.
This is actually what I said as my answer plying along. Turgeo! And I was wrong and confused why haha
I said that also.😅
Horned toads are actually a species of lizard native to the southwest United States and reach roughly 18 inches in length.
18 inches?? 😂 they are not that big. I've handled several different species of them. They're pretty small and very chill.
@@sme02 it is what I found online.
Snape saying "safety first" needs to be a t-shirt
The edits/ cut aways felt a lot more high effort in this one. The pixie one actually made me chuckle
It cracked me up too😂
Ethan: “The listeners, the readers, the watchers”
Me: Well I’m here for it!
*I am your guide through these vast new realities*
Follow me and ponder the question: What If…?
The first question was, "PRETTY OBVIOUS ".😂
Red moon is my fav. Luna was so pro Ron. Even after his, apparently natural rudeness… she gets him the most
Charms can't be that soft; Flitwick teaches it, and he was a dueling champion. It must come in handy every once in a while
I wouldn't say it seems soft, but it has a lower skill floor to be successful at it than Transfiguration. The basics of charms are easier to grasp and get started using it effectively
It's probably the most practically useful of all the subjects. But in my head it's a bit more based on instinct whereas transfiguration is more technical
Fawkes does drop another feather in OotP. It's the signal that Umbridge knows the Weasleys are out of bed after Arthur is attacked.
Ben: "I'm crashing and burning like a plane falling out of the sky"
The Points: ......
It wasn't six cauldrons all at once. That's how many he had melted up to that point from first year😂
Still, 6 is a whole lot.
When you said problem free philosophy.... my brain screamed HAKUNA MATATA
Yall should change the intro art to add J's glorious mustache
NO!
17:10 -- Thanks for that "Blues Brothers" reference. I love that movie.
Give Ben credit for that last question! At least 1/2 a point.
Emerald phoenix sounds like a nickname of a Dumbledore who ended up in slytherin ❤❤❤❤
Is "tickling my brain like a tarantula" going to be a running joke?
37:24 Regarding Ethan's comment about D&D 5e rules: Refilling a container would more likely come under the Conjuration School of magic as that involves either the creation of material out of thin air or the transportation of something from on place to another. The Transmutation School deals with changing the physical properties of something into something else.
I knew someone had to beat me too this.
"something about Saturn" would be a great band name
I assume you mean that Cadogan was a real knight in the Harry Potter world, because he definitely isn't part of Arthurian legends. But wouldn't it be a given that most, if not all, the paintings hanging around in Harry Potter are of real people? The Fat Lady was also a real person at some point, was she not?
The last time I did a HP film marathon, I SWEAR I saw the portrait of Anne Boleyn on one of the walls. If it actually is there, that could be a nod to the fact that she was accused of being a witch IRL. It does make you wonder if the set designers put in other portraits of real historical people who were rumored to have ties to witchcraft and/or alchemy. (After all, Nicolas Flamel was a real alchemist)
The Monster's inc easter egg was absolute gold 😂
Ben trying to make J feel better after the rememberall incident just proves he’s the kindest of souls 🥹
I'll counteract it. I like it when you put the pen to your mouth. I like weird quirks.
Every day, J looks a little more like John Green's Pizzamas picture.
Disappointed there was no use of the El Dorado "Stars. Can't do it. Not today" scene
I quote that scene every week
Glad it wasn't just me that was disappointed 😅
Sorry Ben, “almost” only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades.
I have a thought that Neville could never be the chosen one because Snape loved lily which he pleaded to Voldemort to spare her. She was offered to step aside in which she still chose death to save Harry. Because she was offered to be spared isn't that part of the love protection? Because Neville's mother wouldn't have been offered the same treatment because Snape didn't love her but did Lily. So the sacrificial love wouldn't work the same as it did for Harry. I could be missing something but just curious!
Love the videos, listen to through the Gryffin door on podcast while working!
15:50 " Stars.. Can't do it, not today " - The Road to El Dorado
My youngest sister just started reading Harry Potter and she just told me she pronounces Neville's name "Ne-vile" 😂
ÆVÆĐÅĶÄĎÆBŘƏÆ ÆVÆĐÅĶÄĎÆBŘƏÆ ÆVÆĐÅĶÄĎÆBŘƏÆ ÆVÆĐÅĶÄĎÆBŘƏÆ ÆVÆĐÅĶÄĎÆBŘƏÆ ÆVÆĐÅĶÄĎÆBŘƏÆÆVÆĐÅĶÄĎÆBŘƏÆ ÆVÆĐÅĶÄĎÆBŘƏÆ ÆVÆĐÅĶÄĎÆBŘƏÆ ÆVÆĐÅĶÄĎÆBŘƏÆ ÆVÆĐÅĶÄĎÆBŘƏÆ ÆVÆĐÅĶÄĎÆBŘƏÆ
The Harry Potter books do have quite a few weird names that most people, especially children, wouldn't know how to pronounce.
This is great!😂
eugh, people are still reading harry potter in 2024?
@@shalice7784Yes…some for the first time, some for the fifteenth.
J’s rocking that moustache so well that I think he’s gonna look weird if and when he shaves it off
Okay, who‘s gonna produce that Trelawny-Country-song? I think I need that in my life.
“Somthin about Saturn” is absolutely the name of a country song 😂 Seriously…It works so well
i wonder could the imperius curse make u do something u would normallly be incapable of doing like hey do a backflip even though u normally could not for whatever reason
I have already forgotten what J looks like without a moustache 😂
Also first vote for the country band’s name to be “Azkaban Country-Band” (like Azkaban Contraband)
I thought the speakeasy story was going in a different direction. That once you got to the other side of the room, the box your key opened would have your drink in it. Now I think that'd be a fun gimmick. A wall of boxes numbered completely out of order on the customer side, a short hunt to find your box, on the bartender side the boxes would be in order and easy to find and in the time you spend searching for your box, your drink is magically there. Maybe the boxes all have a collector coin in them as a prize for if you get there before your drink. Collect 5 and get a free drink. Lots of drunk people running across the room and searching frantically.
That would be a neat gimmick
On the Cosforums site, the ship name for Ginny and Neville was HMS SIGNS (Society Introducing Ginny/Neville Shipping). On FictionAlley, the ship name is HMS Flaming Toad. The portmanteau ship name for them is Nevinny.
Back before book six came out, I shipped them, because at the time, I shipped Harry with Luna and Ron with Hermione. Btw, the ship name for Neville and Luna is The Government Stole My Toad.
If my teacher up ended a box full of tarantulas, forget never setting foot in the classroom ever again, I'm not setting foot in the school!
Love the reactions after J said rememberall 😂
Y'all talking about "stars" and being told not to do it, and then ya miss a GOLDEN opportunity to blip into the Dreamworks reality for a Road to El Dorado moment. 🤣🤣🤣
I really need this something about Saturn song to be made
Tergeo is the wiping spell, it removes grease or dirt from a surface (used by Ron in #7)
Scourgify was also used by Tonks to clean Hedwig's cage
Do you know how sadistic it is to make a student disembowl the same animal that they have a beloved pet as? Like, Snape has to know about Neville and his toad, and what does Snape make him disembowl? Toads.
He definitely knows about Trevor, considering that he was going to poison it if Neville didn't make a potion right
@@thedragonwarrior5861 Yes, you're totally right!! I forgot about that. Snape is the worst
The mustache makes you two look like sibling. When you don't have it, you look like you're just friends.
The "Somethin 'Bout Saturn" song has to be sung by the country band Box Of Snakes.
13:11 I didn't just hear that TWICE, did I? Erva? ERVA?
I try to watch these videos while I work out but it’s hard when I keep laughing so hard 🤣
Why does Snape say there will be no foolish wand waving in his class when you need to use your wand in potion making?
This moustache is amazing!
Ben, honestly it really makes me feel uncomfortable when you DON’T put the pen in your mouth when thinking because it’s clear that it’s part of your thinking posture and it makes me feel uncomfortable that you’re adjusting that due to a TH-cam comment.
Who is Neville's great ancestor:
Jiraiya
Tsuyu "Tsu" Asui
Toad
Mortimer Toynbee
Neville is the new generation's toad Messiah
I'll just be over here, shipping Harry and Luna.
Same 😂
I think the best real world example for the Cornish pixies would be a cage full of birds. Like, you’re probably not scared of birds, but if they’re freaked out and flying around you in an enclosed space, it’ll probably freak you out a bit
Okay, I don't know whether they choose the commercial spots or let TH-cam choose, but either way, going into J's brain is the best transition into one I've ever seen.
You guys were talking about wand woods and cores and it got me thinking... the difference between the movie and the book is that in the book Harry repairs his original wand that has the phoenix feather core before hiding away the Elder Wand, and in the movie he destroys the Elder Wand without fixing his original wand. I've always liked the movie outcome better, but now I'm thinking it makes even more sense. The wand that chose Harry when he was 11 chose him because he had a connection to Voldemort. The phoenix feather cores were matched from Fawkes. By the end of the Deathly Hallows, or at least the Battle of Hogwarts, Harry is no longer connected to Voldemort. Would that original wand even be correct for him anymore? I have a feeling that the one he won from Draco might be the best fit for him at this point.
Ethan is my favourite host! I love his sense of humour and the natural flow with the CB 🙃 but of course, i love all of the team ❤ Thank you for your job and for sharing your passion, adding joy to my everyday life 😊
I went on a J vs Ben binge and I’m not sure why I noticed this but Ben and J very often have different spellings of member names. No idea who is getting right but I think they should get brownie points if they get the correct spelling 😂
J's mustache is amazing!
ETHANSWERS/QUIZABELLE/KANGAROO KAT CAMERA!!!!
The fact that you were born in 1988 is phenomenal because you look so much younger! It's weird how our generation looks like the young people and young people look much, much older!
Please do a quizz on any of xoir theories! Make the Patreons and team memebers do a quizz on What if Harry was in Slytherin for example...lets see how well you know your own writings!
Haha Ethan's take on country music was excellent 🤣
I think the best part is that Neville didn't forget the rememberall 😂😂😂😂 he forgot his robes
The moustache needs to stay permanently. Looks good.
My teacher had a millipede in her classroom and her name was Millie. I think (as I recall-it was so long ago) she had a tarantula as well.
Draco has a Unicorn wand too. I'd like to hear your thoughts in Draco's wand being Unicorn hair and Unicorn wands being least likely to perform dark magic.
worth noting that Transfiguration started off turning a match to a pin
where as Charms we didn't see them casting spells for 2 months, because levitation charm wasn't performed in class until Halloween
You guys always make My day! Thanks For this 🎉🎉🎉🎉
J: "I remember being 11 in 1999"
Me: was born in 1999
Awesome video guys! Your videos always help make tasks at home more enjoyable ☺️❤️
8:45 it’s so odd hearing that unicorn hair cores are for good people when draco’s wand core is also unicorn hair!😅
People chew on pens all the time I don’t think it’s bad that Ben does it. It’s his own pen. It’s not a random one. I think Ben is fine to do what he does
Can confirm you guys sold me on Red Moon lol. I think in any universe where harry and hermione end up together it makes sense. (I’m definitely a harry and ginny shipper tho sucks that the movies messed up their relationship so badly)
Whenever J or Ben clogs back, I literally sing “clogging my way back town,”
The stache is looking sick J! You should keep it permanently!
Fun fact both my grandmother and I have Neville’s birthday. So every day on my birthday I always think about Neville and then Harry as well because his birthday is the day after me
Been watching you guys for so long, always the best
that zoom into your forehead lined up perfectly with the ad hahaha 3:50
