Fans analyzed that the provocative shout was thrown at people who had been ignoring, underrating, mocking, hating and even trying to discredit BABYMETAL. That shout may have been necessary in 2015 but not any longer. She has shouted it occasionally since then and when she does, it is with her friendly smile and matured mild voice that I love 😄

Enough said! 😁 That moment when they walked through the bridge was very special for them as Su-metal explained years later. She said it was one of her favorite moments on stage. She also made this song her personal anthem. You can tell she was on fire, specially during the second half of the song, by her expressions. Get used to saying "this is my new favourite BABYMETAL song" - it happens a lot and it is not unknown for people to say it every time they listen to another song they didn't hear yet. This video was from January 2015 at the Saitama Super Arena. Su was 17, Yui and Moa only 15 and that was over 20,000 people completely under their control. Even at that age Su just looks at the crowd, spreads her arms and the crowd opens up for a wall of death (actually several walls of death at that concert as the crowd were in sections. A journalist up in the balcony that night said he counted, i think it was, 21 mosh pits). This was at the end of a 90 minute concert and they had been keeping that same energy up without any drop in quality for the whole time. It is what they do - they appreciate people have often paid a lot of money and travelled a long way to see them, they never give anything less than 100% for every song at every concert, whether that is one of their big arena concerts in Japan or at the many various sized venues as they tour the world. About the song itself. 'Road of Resistance' is a very positive song, it isn't the usual "resist the machine or the system etc" that we might expect from the title. It is about forging your own road even where a road doesn't already exist, not necessarily going the easy way or following the path already made by somebody else, so if the way you want to go has never been trodden you may have to get past the resistance of the undergrowth, obstacles, hurdles and things blocking your way etc to find your own way. It could easily be used to describe BABYMETAL's own story - they could have followed the well trodden path of J-Pop and been very successful, but they chose to go with Metal ... but again they didn't just follow the same old format of every other metal band, they have done it their own way and it hasn't always been an easy route to follow. Herman Li and Sam Totman from the British power/speed metal band DragonForce did the guitar arrangements for this song (it is the only one they were involved in) and recorded the guitars for the album version.

Babymetal are performers first and recording artists second. They are a "metal dance unit" and their shows are amazing. I've seen them four times now, including at an arena show in Japan and it's just absolutely wild. I encourage you to go see them. They do have a US tour starting in Orlando next week but a lot of the shows are already sold out. If you can get a ticket to one close to you I would highly encourage you to go though.

This performance does make you feel like you're at the show. This is possibly the best live performance I've ever seen and I've seen quite a few. Babymetal is almost always best viewed live. They have a very unique almost magic to their performances. For myself once the ladies come on stage I can't take my eyes off of them. Looking forward to more BM reactions. Just an FYI. The girls were (L to R) 15,17 and 15 in this performance. And as you experienced they had that entire audience intoxicated! Oh and the circular mosh' sh pits are very Japanese. And what I've heard is they are very friendly and if someone should say trip or fall. Others will help them up. Quite a difference from the "carnage" of our western mosh pits.

They also invented what was later classified as kawaii (cute) metal, although the music would stylistically evolve over time (while distinctly retain the overall eclectic & eccentric approach). Looking back, 2018 was the line of demarcation: everything before (first two albums) was more kawaii than metal (& fledging copycat J-bands hitching onto their bandwagon), & everything after (next two albums) was more metal than kawaii (& gateway to the 'loud' metal/rock scene in J-music). The guitar work in RoR is quintessentially DragonForce, not surprising since Herman Li & Sam Totman played in the studio recording. DF was also an early supporter, comically sneaking BM into Download 2015 (after the snobbish organizer feuded for months online & vowed not to book the girls) & then musically backing them at the Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards. This particular live show ("Legend 2015") featured guitarists Takayoshi Ohmura & Leda Cygnus, bassist BOH, drummer Hideki Aoyama. Two other Kami Band regulars (guitarist Mikio Fujioka & drummer Yuya Maeta) were also in attendance, although another core member (guitarist Isao Fujita) hasn't joined yet. The beloved Kamis are purely road musicians hired on interim basis, free to take on other projects & jobs when BM isn't on tour. A new set of American musicians (currently six core members) replaced the Japanese in 2019. The Legend 2015 gig (on Jan 10 2015) is iconic for several reasons. Firstly, it was BM's homecoming after breaking through internationally (Sonisphere 2014, HeavyMTL, Lady Gaga tour) during the previous half year (the Gimme Choco MV going viral as well). Secondly, it was then BM's biggest solo show (sold-out 20,000 at Saitama Super Arena), & a further step up of their meteoric rise (from 2,500 in mid-2013 to 10,000 during 2014 as headliners) although they were also getting seasoned at bigger festivals (40,000-50,000). BM would graduate to even bigger capacities (sold-out 65,000 twice at Tokyo Dome, plus 80,000-90,000 at UK & US festivals) over the next two years. Thirdly, RoR was their classy rebuttal to metal elitists (including concert promoters & journalists) who dismissed BM as a gimmick & novelty act. This live video would also leave many jaded metalheads teary-eyed in their reaction videos before the pandemic. (BM's three versions of Monochrome have become the new RoR for newer fans.) The lyrics are also very meaningful (about forging one's own path) & BM songs tend to be very uplifting in general, so check out all their more recent live versions which have the English subtitles & aren't suppressed on TH-cam. Fourthly, BM & the Kamis always inexplicitly managed to live up to the hype at their shows, regardless of occasion. The Saitama gig was the first time domestic fans saw their growth after venturing abroad. RoR here was also the finale of their energetic 15-song set, yet they still looked very fresh & fighting fit. Keep in mind that Su was just 17 & Moa/Yui merely 15 at that time. In fact, their 2014 to 2016 gigs are arguably their most maniacal ever (trio, band, crowd), most of them thankfully filmed for retail release. Dailymotion has their 7-song Metrock 2015 set (it took place four months after Saitama) if you want a fuller glimpse of those halcyon days. Finally, what if I tell you that RoR wasn't even officially released yet when Legend 2015 was held? BM had debuted it live to end their O2 Academy Brixton gig two months earlier (then under the provisional song title The One). TH-cam has the fancams. It was then released as a limited bonus download a few days before the Saitama gig. Somehow, the 20,000 attendees worked out the crowd-participation parts from those two resources. The segment turned out so good (metaphorically capturing lightning in a bottle) that it was uploaded as RoR's official live MV in mid-2015.

Secondly, it was then BM's biggest solo show (sold-out 20,000 at Saitama Super Arena), & a further step up of their meteoric rise (from 2,500 in mid-2013 to 10,000 during 2014 as headliners) although they were also getting seasoned at bigger festivals (40,000-50,000). BM would graduate to even bigger capacities (sold-out 65,000 twice at Tokyo Dome, plus 80,000-90,000 at UK & US festivals) over the next two years.
Thirdly, RoR was their classy rebuttal to metal elitists (including concert promoters & journalists) who dismissed BM as a gimmick & novelty act. This live video would also leave many jaded metalheads teary-eyed in their reaction videos before the pandemic. (BM's three versions of Monochrome have become the new RoR for newer fans.) The lyrics are also very meaningful (about forging one's own path) & BM songs tend to be very uplifting in general, so check out all their more recent live versions which have the English subtitles & aren't suppressed on TH-cam.
Fourthly, BM & the Kamis always inexplicitly managed to live up to the hype at their shows, regardless of occasion. The Saitama gig was the first time domestic fans saw their growth after venturing abroad. RoR here was also the finale of their energetic 15-song set, yet they still looked very fresh & fighting fit. Keep in mind that Su was just 17 & Moa/Yui merely 15 at that time. In fact, their 2014 to 2016 gigs are arguably their most maniacal ever (trio, band, crowd), most of them thankfully filmed for retail release. Dailymotion has their 7-song Metrock 2015 set (it took place four months after Saitama) if you want a fuller glimpse of those halcyon days.
Finally, what if I tell you that RoR wasn't even officially released yet when Legend 2015 was held? BM had debuted it live to end their O2 Academy Brixton gig two months earlier (then under the provisional song title The One). TH-cam has the fancams. It was then released as a limited bonus download a few days before the Saitama gig. Somehow, the 20,000 attendees worked out the crowd-participation parts from those two resources. The segment turned out so good (metaphorically capturing lightning in a bottle) that it was uploaded as RoR's official live MV in mid-2015.

this was the number one must react to song because of the performance. even if you dont react to it, it's definitely worth checking out headbangerrr live from this same era. the performance in this video is the bar, but headbanger is an even better song in my opinion. any of the songs with the kami band intro would make for a great reaction vid.

It is my opinion that, until you’ve seen their earlier work, you haven't really experienced BABYMETAL.
This version of "Road of Resistance" is fairly early in their rise to fame, recorded in 2015 with over 20,000 members of The One at the Saitama Super Arena in Japan in attendance, and I think you would be hard-pressed to find a better version.
Having said that, a word regarding BABYMETAL music videos: I will be the first to agree with The One that BABYMETAL is best served live, and they have, at the moment, eighteen music videos. However, they have several that are real works of art and definitely worth looking into. There are some things you can do in a music video that simply cannot be replicated on a live stage. I recommend the following:

In my opinion, these are BABYMETAL’s best MV’s (so far). And there's no law that says that you can't watch a live version after taking the music video - or vice versa.
There is a playlist on TH-cam, "BABYMETAL Top Twenty" ( th-cam.com/play/PLdhz2aj0pt4zPl0BZLevPUR9uHKQA27uj.html ), that includes these music videos, and it includes live performances of other songs as well (including this version of RoR) and are roughly in historical order.
A technical suggestion, if I may: when you pause, go back about five or ten seconds before resuming; that way you regain the flow of the song. You may or may not know that if you tap your keyboard space bar once it will pause the video, another tap will resume play. Also, if you tap the left arrow key once, it will rewind the video five seconds (a second tap for another five seconds), and tapping the right arrow key will advance the video five seconds. This rewinding may also help baffle the YT copyright police. Also, you shouldn't have to pause the video any more than three times. Just sayin'. 😁
